So what’s the latest on that shiny new border wall that Americans were ‘promised?’ Well, as of yet no new sections have been built on the Mexican border, almost two years into Donald Trump’s presidency. He has had great difficulty securing the vast sums of money needed from Congress, many of whom believe the Trumps’ wall to be the most expensive, yet least effective way to deter illegal immigration.
In typical fashion, Trump has taken it badly. Threatening to shut down the government in order to get his way, negotiations have stalled over a request for $5 billion in funding for the border wall. But wait, wasn’t Mexico supposed to be happy to pay for it anyway? And what about priorities like health insurance, education, and infrastructure? Things that affect the real lives of millions of Americans every day?
Fox News contributor and sycophantic Trump cheerleader Tomi Lahren believes that a thousand-mile symbol of hysterical fear and insularity trumps all of these things. “$5 billion spent on a wall will be the BEST $5 billion taxpayers EVER spent! Build the wall. Secure the border. America FIRST!” she tweeted optimistically.

Enter ‘Little Miss Flint.’ After seeing Lahren’s tweet about the wall, Mari Copeny, an 11-year-old girl, was understandably indignant. She decided to challenge Lahren’s assertion that the wall is the best use of taxpayer’s money, and proceeded to deliver a savage comeback that showed an eloquence and maturity well beyond her tender age of 11.

When she was just 8 years old she wrote a letter to President Obama speaking out for the children of Flint, who have been badly let down by their country. When people are dying from treatable diseases, schools are being shot up, etc., in America, and you aren't doing anything about it and instead wanting to build a wall, that's not America first, that's "my ego" first.
I work in a UK primary school and we have the water tested multiple times a year. Because testing is mandated and it make a lot of sense I'd never given it a lot of thought and so I was genuinely astonished upon reading that this isn't the case in the US.
Yeah, again, my country is small and c**p, being ex-communist and at the tail end of Europe when it comes to everything but internet speed and home-ownership (there, we rule the world * strikes heroic pose*) including water quality, and STILL, we don't have to deal with this kind of s**t. If you live in a city, then the water on tap is good to drink (if not exactly tasty, especially in Dobrogea, but that has to do with local hydrographic conditions- if your water table goes through limestone, it's not going to taste great, no matter what you do to it) and you only have to deal with problems in the country if your main source of water is a well, because some aquifers were polluted by industrial run-off during the communist years. A country can't be run by choosing a single issue over another single-issue. Running a country is multifaceted. Attention should be given to both problems. Too many people on both the right and left get too focused on things that they think will make the other side look bad. The toxicity in these comments alone is a glaring indicator of how much attention is put on insulting people on the other political side, rather coming together to fix the actual problem. But there already is a physical barrier though, despite the fact that most illegals just fly here on visa and never leave.
