This Guy Drew An Eye-Opening Illustration That Shows How Drastically Earth’s Temperature Has Changed In The Last 200 Years
While it’s hard for scientists 100 percent predict what the future holds for earth’s climate, more and more studies show that very soon the globe may begin to exhibit some of the worst possible side effects of global warming.
A recently published study warns that if the current level of greenhouse gas emissions continues, in 2030 earth’s climate will practically be the same as it was 3 million years ago during the Pliocene epoch. Back then, temperatures on earth were higher by about 2 to 4 degrees Celsius (3.6 to 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit) and sea levels were higher by roughly 20 meters (almost 66 feet) than today. It’s clear that climate-change deniers will not be able to deny it for very much longer because earth’s climate is rapidly changing for the worse. According to CNN research scientist Nick Obradovich, the change means “Jumping back to climates not seen for millions of years — in the course of decades — will likely totally disrupt the future of humanity.” So it’s clear that both politicians and individuals must take action to reduce greenhouse emissions as soon as possible.
A Redditor raised an interesting question of what would happen if all humans would unite to take drastic actions to stop global warming?
The answer they received was simple
The tragedy could be prevented but the climate would not reverse to its previous state before human-caused global warming.
For those who say that earth’s average temperature changed before, here’s a helpful timeline showing the bad impact humans have made on the climate

Load More Replies...The problem is not that the temperature is rising, it's that IT'S RISING TOO FAST FOR ANY ANIMALS TO ADAPT AND WE NEED TO CHANGE IT OTHERWISE WE COULD LITERALLY BURN THE EARTH DOWN okay?
I would still say the fact that it's rising in general is still a problem though... Even if it were rising slowly enough for us to adapt, it's still gonna be a problem when the earth turns into another Venus. What I've learned from Venus is that life doesn't like it there.

I keep hearing people saying that, "Oh it's all just cyclical, we've been at these temperatures before, it has nothing to do with humans." Okay, let's say you're right. SO WHAT? You can plainly see that climate change is causing drastic changes everywhere, from floods and tornadoes to forest fires. Does it matter whether humans caused it or not? No. If we plan to live through it we'd better do something!
Most recent research says it is about 26K for dogs. And when you read about how they basically self-domesticated it is mind blowing. Then you read how humans deconstructed the chase/attack/kill prey into things like cattle dogs, retrieving dogs, sight hounds, and attack dogs, your mind is even more blown. Like we had all this time with dogs and we just became one with them so much that we were able to fine tune these traits. Mine are clearly just hang out with the people, zero herding, some cat chasing, and no biting, but insisting on being cuddled. Who came up with that? But I digress. This is old, Randall Munroe should be credited, BP.
I can't help but think this must be Randall Munroe, the scientist and webcomic xkcd. This looks EXACTLY like his art style. He also wrote this book called What If? which answers many hypothetical science questions. Also the Thing Explainer.
So... if we planted more trees and quit tearing down the rainforests... how much impact would we see? Seems everyone is pointing fingers at rising CO2 levels, but don't plants help by using this gas and converting it to oxygen? I'm not saying I disagree with the post, I'm just wondering if there are multiple attacks that can be made.

Load More Replies...I see. So we've been in a super long ice age and we are now warming up. We may have contributed to it, although there isn't actually any direct concrete evidence to support that - it's actually just a scientific theory that is being pushed as fact. Animals will become extinct. Others will evolve. It's no different from when other animals in the past died out. Even if we weren't here there could be natural disasters that trigger global warming or even a shift in the earths orbit. Granted, we could take better care of the planet just in case...but arguably the biggest issue is that we have over populated the planet.
seriously? Look at how slow temperatures have been changing the past 10000 years and how fast they are changing the past 100 years, at the time we started blowing CO2 in the the atmosphere
Load More Replies...So, the earth is millions and millions years old and in the last 200 years humans have done so much damage that we're destroying it? I agree there's way to much pollution like plastic (thank mostly Indonesia for that), and that fossil fuels do have an effect on our air quality. I don't not however believe that the earth that's capable healing itself is being affected by us in the last 200 or so years that it's in danger of not being able to sustain life. One thing I never hear from environmentalist ( I sure it's brought up but never gets much press) is the amount of exhaust from air travel. There are thousands of jets in the air at any given moment but the big climate change gurus never mention that.
You do notice that the change spans 8 degrees, from ice all over to 4 degrees over the long time average.
Sadly its true and were is nothing at all we could do to this ongoing climate cycle more than trying to adapt as long as it works. We have lived as we did and is still continuing living in the same downward spiral when poor parts of the world also these days is getting further and further into this good downward spiral life who they of course dont say no to.Maybe we survive or get replaced in this future by something else. But just trying to freeze everything as it is this ongoing moment to save the climate is probably more impossible than building a new home in another galaxy. We often think we are some smart humans who in the same time destroy everything we need in the long run to survive.Slowing down the clamte change is one thing.Stopping it ... IMPOSSIBLE.Thanks for the comment.
ongoing climate cycle? You should look again at this graph. Look at how slow the temperature has changes the past 22000 years and how relatively stable the temp was (+0,5 degrees and - 0,5 degrees) over periods of a couple of thousand years. And than look at how fast temp is changing the last 100 years, since man started to blow huge amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere

Eventually our sun will die and go supernova and swallow us up anyway. We will never be forever so let's enjoy a few millennia of warm weather while we're here ;)
Eheheh This was funny. People don't understand this kind of humour. ♥
