I Used Artificial Intelligence To See How Some Celebrities Would Look If They Lived In Our Times Instead Of Theirs (17 Pics)
"Thisness": The quality in a thing of being here and now or such as it is.
I am Alper Yesiltas, a lawyer and photographer living in Istanbul, Turkey. I've been imagining scenes and capturing memories for about 19 years now. During that time, some of my photos have been edited worldwide in books, magazines, exhibitions, and websites and were awarded in several photo contests.
You may have heard of my previous project called "As If Nothing Happened", in which I depict what some of the lost celebrities would look like if they were alive today, and which I first published on Bored Panda.
I would like to share with you the first collection of images of my new AI-based project called "Thisness". Behind this project lies the question "What would some iconic people look like if they lived in our time instead of living in theirs?" I look forward to your feedback and suggestions.

Amelia Earhart - American Aviation Pioneer And Writer, The First Female Aviator To Fly Solo Across The Atlantic Ocean
In general, the people I work with using artificial intelligence are the people I personally want to see the photorealistic version of or adapted to the present day. I think these people are indeed some of the greatest icons that ever lived, and I am very curious about them.
Rosa Parks - American Activist In The Civil Rights Movement Best Known For Her Pivotal Role In The Montgomery Bus Boycott
Sharon Tate - American Actress And Model
I am very happy that the works I create are reflections of my personal curiosity. There are dozens more people I would like to add to this series, so I will continue working on this project. Keep an eye on my socials for even more images of icons like these.
Benjamin Franklin - Founding Father Of The United States
Helen Keller - American Author, Disability Rights Advocate, Political Activist And Lecturer
She would never have been able to accomplish what she did if it hadn't been for Anne Sullivan, her teacher and lifelong companion. Helen went to Radcliffe college (the women's college at Harvard), and Anne spelled out the lectures into Helen's hand, as well as the textbooks not available in braille, which was most of them.
To be honest, as a fan, I'm really tempted to be able to make small touches that reflect my own perspective on people I admire. That's what makes me passionate about the power of AI-generated images.
Greta Garbo - Swedish-American Actress, Regarded As One Of The Greatest Screen Actresses, Famous For Her Many Films, Especially "Ninotchka"
(Sir) Charlie Chaplin - British Comic Actor, Filmmaker, And Composer Who Became A Worldwide Icon Through His Screen Persona, "The Tramp"
Even though I read reviews from many different perspectives on AI-generated images, most people want me to keep doing what I'm doing. This really makes me very happy and inspired to create more.
Gene Kelly - American Actor, Dancer, Singer, Filmmaker, And Choreographer, Famous For His Many Films, Especially "Singin' In The Rain"
Alexander Hamilton - American Revolutionary, Statesman And Founding Father Of The United States
Lauren Bacall - American Actress, Famous For Her Many Films, Especially "To Have And Have Not"
Babe Ruth - The American Professional Baseball Player, Considered The Most Famous Baseball Player In The Entire World
Ginger Rogers - American Actress, Dancer And Singer During The Golden Age Of Hollywood, Famous For Her Many Films, Especially "Top Hat"
Audrey Hepburn - British Actress, Famous For Her Many Films, Especially "Breakfast At Tiffany's"
Yeah, they didn’t have to include her in this article. She was always timeless, so could’ve been dropped into almost any modern era and fit in just fine—-she was too progressive for anything further back than the 20th century, but would fit into both the present and the future.
Load More Replies...Artificial intelligence not very intelligent on this. She’s a different person and those arms look really weird.
After everything Audrey went through in her time, I don’t see how she would have dark circles under her eyes now but not then.
Makeup and early photoshop (I'm not kidding, they did edit photos).
Load More Replies...Audrey Hepburn (born Audrey Kathleen Ruston; 4 May 1929 – 20 January 1993) was a British[a] actress and humanitarian. Born in Ixelles, Brussels to an aristocratic family, Hepburn spent parts of her childhood in Belgium, England, and the Netherlands
Load More Replies...If Instagram influencers were used to train the so-called artificial intelligence, warped elbows to pinch the waist (bad photoshopping) is the only natural result.
Load More Replies...Totally fails to capture Hepburn's spakle and charm. As a professional photographer I hate this bogus fake c**p.
Lovely eyes. Her (typical) mom said she had a boyish figure! (She was malnourished due to the german invasion)
What did you do to Audrey?!?!? Even in her worst photos she still looked a hundred times more beautiful and glamorous than this...travesty. Boo!!
Audrey Hepburn was much more elegant and sophisticated, something one doesn't see often anymore
Her body shap would have been completely different if she was born later. Her body shape ie... thin frame long neck, fragile limbs were all a result of malnutrition during Her childhood due to war and depression. Her parents were nazi supporters and she often attempted to distance herself often starving. A modern day Audrey would be happy and plump in a world without as much hardships.
this ai made her look like she's holding in a fart and a burp at the same time
She was 64 when she died, a simple google search will show you how she looked.
Al Capone - Nickname "Scarface", American Gangster And Businessman Who Attained Notoriety During The Prohibition Era As The Co-Founder And Boss Of The Chicago Outfit
Humphrey Bogart - Nicknamed "Bogie", An American Film And Stage Actor Famous For His Many Films, Especially "Casablanca"
Henry Ford - American Industrialist, Business Magnate, Founder Of The Ford Motor Company, And Chief Developer Of The Assembly Line Technique Of Mass Production
...and fervent antisemite, Hitler awarded him the highest german decoration for foreigners in 1938.
Christopher Columbus - Italian Explorer And Navigator Who Completed Four Voyages Across The Atlantic Ocean, Opening The Way For The Widespread European Exploration And Colonization Of The Americas
I'm sorry, I just don't understand the point of this. All of these people would look exactly the same as they did, except for modern clothing and maybe a modern hairstyle. For some of these even the hairstyle hasn't really changed much, so it's basically just putting them in modern clothes. So what? Seriously. I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't understand it at all.
Modern make-up, modern clothes and a modern photographic composition, all tried to be created and combined with AI.
Load More Replies...I loved scrolling through these photos! For me, these photos transformed untouchable legends into real people.
For all the people who "don't understand" or comment how "awful" or bad these are or say nasty things about the individuals- REALLY? YOU took the time to look at each one AND to make a rude comment! Why do you have to knock someone else's creativity or comment on the lives of people you never knew personally? Here's an idea- if you don't find something interesting or disagree with how/why it was done, how about you stroll on by? Is it REALLY that difficult to hit your back arrow or move on to something you DO like, or do you just look at projects like this because you have nothing better to do than be rude?
I can't compare them because most of them are unknown to me and the name doesn't ring a bell.
Why make all the women offensively and unrealistically skinny? It takes away from them and makes your work look bad
But that was how Audrey Hepburn's figure was like, thanks to an early childhood filled with Great Depression-fueled malnutrition and spending her formative years further food-deprived as a result of WWII raging on in Europe.
Load More Replies...The point was to demonstrate the possible difference from their time to ours. Comparrisons can be fun...if only some of you people would give it a chance instead of being a bunch of stick in the muds. IM MEAN...REALLY!!!!
Very cool! Out of curiosity, what made you choose these particular people?
Thank you very much for your valuable comments. While determining the names I will work on, I wanted to start with the people who I think have the most impact on society, although the art they do varies. You will see many different names within the scope of this series.
Load More Replies...One of the dumbest things I've seen. The world doesn't need this fake c**p. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
