Desperately Thirsty Massive Cobra Is Given A Water Bottle

After extreme drought hit southern parts of India, this King cobra found its way to a local village in attempt to get some water. Although King cobras are known for being dangerous, the compassion of the locals for the animal was bigger than their fear. Also, knowing that this type of snake usually tries to avoid confrontation with humans as much as possible, they realised it must have been really thirsty to come to their village.

So, they began the rescue operation. First, one man took a grip of cobra’s tail to prevent it from attacking the guy with water bottle. The rescuer came in front of the snake and splashed some water on the snake’s head to cool the animal down. Then, he extended the water bottle for cobra to drink from, and the magic happened – it drank!

All while trying to give water to the snake, the man was holding a snake catcher to protect himself in case the cobra decided to launch a vicious attack. Fortunately, everything went well. The snake was later taken to an animal care facility.

I am so proud of these ppl for not beating, killing, or scaring the snake away! Education and awareness, compassion and kindness, led to that! I hope the rescue facility will rehabilitate the animal.

Seeing that kind of compassion keeps me going! I just wish that it could be seen more frequently.

it is nice, but why they didn't just put some water in a bowl or something and let the snake drink itsef to avoid this dangerous contact with it...

Why can't we all just get along? Human -- mammal -- reptile-- we are all one.

Normally terrified of snakes - this somehow changes my perception. All living creatures have the opportunity to help each other...beautiful.

Too bad he got to the snake too late. No matter how much he punishes the snake, his grief likely will never diminish.

I decided a long time ago that if I could have one super-power it would be communicating with any animal. I'd probably be very disappointed though. I'd find out that almost no animals can carry on a conversation or tell you much. They'd talk about what we already know - "I'm hungry. I'm bored. I feel like mating. Now I'll sleep for the next 18 hours until I'm hungry again."

I've seen videos like this. It's difficult to tell from this angle but what is typically happening in a scene like is the Cobra's mouth has been sewn shut and it cannot drink unless water is poured into it's mouth from above.

A bowl of water would have been a lot easier all around. Are you sure that this is not just set up?

Yes it isn't a setup. These guys are forest rangers, they know how to handle wild animals. They are also ordered to shoot poachers on sight just FYI. One of the good things about India.
