As smart as we think we are, we all have gaps in our knowledge. We might spend our whole lives believing we know how to properly operate the microwave or the right way to wear our running shoes. Then, when someone points out that the complete opposite of what we thought is true, we can’t help but scratch our heads in confusion.

Sidneyraz is on a mission to show us we're not the only ones by sharing super simple and obvious know-how life tips. The creator told Bored Panda in a previous interview that he decided to start this series after people positively reacted to his video "Here's something you should know about being in your 30s. It's better than your 20s."

"My most popular videos are ones that have to do with the most common items that people use. Travel pillows, English muffins, trash bags, plungers, and so on," Sidneyraz explained. "We all use the same things every day and [without questioning them] because that's how we were taught, but we have no idea why or if it's even right. So when I post a video showing a different way, it blows minds."

That little opening is a steam vent, it typically pops open about 20 seconds before the popping is done. Fancier microwaves have a steam detector to turn it off at the right time and make perfect popcorn every time. You just found an alternate use for that opening.

The TikToker also revealed there's more to this life phase than just figuring out simple life hacks. "We tend to experience both heartbreak and true joy before our 30s too. There are large ups and downs but, hopefully, they help us to be more empathetic people. They’re hard lessons but needed."

"I’m learning all these things too and I don’t want anyone to feel as alone as I have in the past when I didn’t know something [older folks understood quite well]," Sidneyraz added.

Well there is this. If you suffer from seasonal allergies, you should shower at night, before bed. Otherwise all the pollen your hair and body has picked up throughout the day gets transferred to your pillow where your face can get a really good dose!

As a biologist this is problematic... The reason you should put your antiperspirant or deodorant on as soon as you get out of the shower and are dried off... Is because that's when you have the least bacteria in your armpit... If you are putting your pit stick onto your armpits after the bacteria has proliferated your literally creating a petri dish for bacteria to mutate that will now no longer be killed off by your pit stick... Because they will grow resistant to it... This is exactly the same as why we have antibiotic resistant bacteria... If you want to have one in your shower and one by your bed and put it on twice a day... Then by all means... But seriously don't put pet stick or deodorant or spray deodorant or anything like that onto a dirty armpit if it's something that's supposed to be able to kill off or stop it bacteria.

I'm reasonably sure that both deodorants and antiperspirants are worthless products that you buy just because advertising is so compelling. You might consider bathing now and then. But, there are people who tend to reek anyway and conditions like hyperhidrosis. I feel it would be a very good idea to make both products prescription-only. Most people should never have need of one, and antiperspirants shut down your ability to cool your body off as needed.

Anti perspirant vs de odorant - do you see the difference in the names? Why do so many people mix them up? Apply antiperspirant at night and wash off the excess of the strong stuff in the morning. Apply deodorant then. Hyperhidrosis is extreme sweating so I use antiperspirant on my back, neck, breasts, face ... would love to find something for my scalp but haven't yet.

The thing is, most of us don't have to smell good at night. This is usually recommended for medical cases or something extreme. The actual best thing to do is shower off the grode from the previous day, dry, and then apply when dry and cool. That's also what makes the long lasting ones work the way they do.

Deodorant or antiperspirant? I started checking out products on Amazon and bought 2 antiperspirants that eventually begin to work for as long as 7 days if I use them at night, regardless of whether or not I shower in the evening. I wash off excess in the morning, usually and only apply every other day now. I can't believe how many people use deodorant and antiperspirant interchangeably but they are not the same thing. My dermatologist was not helpful with hyperhidrosis but hasn't been helpful overall (so I'm getting another). Just be aware you may not get what you need from a dermatologist.

Only if you want to get cancer faster... I'm not using chemical antiperapirants or deodorants (at first because of my alergies, now because I know how toxic it is - I was trying to determine what is the thing that I'm alergic to and for the first time I've learned that it is some really bad stuff even if you don't have an alergy). That doean't mean that I'm not using anything. I'm buying some natural green clay alternative. It's not so effective, I definitelly can't skip any shower and I keep wet tissues in my bag in case I need them but it's much healthier.

I think it's disengenuous for deodorant to be labeled aluminum free, blah blah because of course they are. When sweating became a huge problem for me recently I looked into, found studies indicating there wasn't increased cancer in antiperspirant using populations and decided to try it. Using it every other day or every 3 days by applying it at night, removing excess in the morning is much healthier than ineffectually in the morning. I expect that will be as long as once every 7 days soon.

Correction, the best time to apply antiperspirant is never, because you're blocking your body's natural cooling mechanism by doing so. It's going to compensate by making you sweat elsewhere (still gross and still stinky). Just use a good deodorant, sans antiperspirant. You can thank me later.

You Can Pick Up Hard Boiled Eggs With A Whisk

You Can Pick Up Hard Boiled Eggs With A Whisk

sidneyraz Report

We previously spoke with Joshua Klapow, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and creator of MentalDrive, about why so many of us realize obvious things only later in life. He explained people often take everyday things for granted "only to pay more attention to those actions and interactions that grab our attention. The obvious goes in the background, so we reserve brain bandwidth to notice the novel, standout occurrences in our life."

As we grow older, there are fewer things that look different to us. "We call that maturity and growth and development," the clinical psychologist said. Then, we can look at the seemingly common in a more careful, more detailed way. "And when we do, we often discover that that obvious has so much more to it that we missed earlier on."

When certain things are visible to us in plain sight and we somehow fail to notice them, it’s easy to feel ashamed. Klapow explained we feel this way because the obvious is often simple and clear to everyone else.

He mentioned we feel embarrassed for several reasons. The first would be that we simply missed what others saw. Then, "we may have made mistakes, hurt others, missed out on opportunities because we didn't see the obvious. Lastly, we have to acknowledge to others and ourselves that despite how we think of ourselves or how we are seen by others, we have missed something."

He did not lie. He has calculated CONTINIOUS work for a work horse. Not just a horse pulling weight for a short amount of time. They are not machines so they can't work full power all the time. In order to work for hours, they need to pace themselves just like any other animal. Thus, one horse power is the rough equivalent of the work horse that is working continuously for about 4 hours shifts, everyday, do in a single hour. This is not precise because there is no "standard horse". Some are stronger, some are weaker. Do not insult men that are way smarter than you and do not presume to know better than scientists just because you google some information. And as Markus specified, modern definition of horse power is a very precise, calculable unit of measurement. And no, a horse power is NOT 14.9 horse power. That's not the definition, never was.

The clinical psychologist said we should turn the internal dialog around and tell ourselves: "I now see things differently, more clearly, and that is going to help me from this day moving forward." Then, embarrassment "can transition into gratitude and excitement for arriving at the discovery of the obvious."

"We are growing, learning, adapting organisms. What is foreign at one point in time can become obvious later as we learn and develop. At any point in our life, we have a chance to look at what we see every day and look at it differently. We never know what we may discover if we are courageous enough to consider the obvious when the world around us is telling us it is sitting right in front of us," Klapow concluded.
