Literally! Every time I leave a gas station or store without buying anything I always freak out thinking that something magically showed up in my pocket and the alarm is gonna go off

That makes me sad to hear why can't we all be colourblind? Its high levels of pigment that's all how can someone hate pigment? It baffles me. Each race has there own uniqueness nothing to hate plenty to celebrate and enjoy

Am upvoting this, in solidarity, and with the desire that this changes in the very very very near future. No-one should feel guilty for something as elementary as melanin levels. The fact that people do feel this way - is heartbreaking.
I feel the same. Now that I moved to a predominantly white neighborhood I get anxious looks from them and I feel like my whole being is wrong.
I'm so sorry that this is the situation you find yourself in. It's beyond unfair. I wish there was something I could do, to tangibly change that experience for you. What I can do, at a bare minimum, from across the planet, is say to you that I wish you only good things, and I hope that things improve. I have always been surrounded by a multitude of nationalities, languages, and aethetics. While I "know" the theory behind their anxious looks...I will never understand the choice behind the decision to give those anxious looks. I hope it gets better for you, & yours. <3

I know that is true, but not everyone looks at a person of color like that. I am mixed race and have faced c**p like this many times.
I know how I, as a white person, feel when I see a cop or have a cop car behind me. That is x100 for a person of color in America. Horrible
You should of let 2020 evolve a bit before posting this. If you're not of color, the LGBTQ community, or a woman, your existence is illegal. Basically if you're a white male you should be locked up.

What is a person of color? Are they green or purple? All people are varying shades of the same color, except maybe albinos, who are nonetheless at least pink.
I think this is generational (and mostly in the USA) racism is very rare in the UK but I think if you've experienced it, it seems like an everyday thing...?
The world is bigger than the USA and UK. And racism can be subtle sometimes, but it's still harmful. As for the generational part, I'd partially agree, but, as Jon S. pointed out, it depends.

Well, I don't know about other countries but in the UK, while there's no law against driving with interior lights on, if a police officer pulls you over and deems that your interior light to be a driving distraction they can ask you to turn it off or charge you with careless driving. ☹
