There’s always something we don’t like. I can’t stand the taste of beetroots, while my best friend is basically allergic to licorice. Food is just one category where people often express their dislikes, but we see the same bursts of loathing anywhere from the animal kingdom to leisure activities. A relative of mine couldn’t stand stepping into a boat, or rather even the thought of it.

But when you stop and think about the things humans address their hate towards, you start wondering about the reasons why. Maybe we’re simply scared of the unknown (yes, tarantulas, we’re speaking of you!) or maybe it’s our past experiences that haunt us to this day.

In any case, today is the perfect time to step back and reflect on these things. Thanks to these two thought-provoking Reddit threads (here and here) where people listed all the things that don’t deserve the hate they get, we have a lot to uncover!

People Name 50 Things That Should Not Be So Universally Hated But Somehow Are Homeless people. It doesnt matter how they lost their home, it doesnt matter if they suffer from an addiction, it doesnt matter if they have a job or not. People have unspoken challenges that you dont know about, and they may have never happened to you, and its none of your damn business why theyre homeless. Housing should be considered a human right, and the fact this is still up for debate bothers me. I've seen how small bachelor pads can get, people really dont need much to survive.

Also, people act as if housing being a human right somehow infringes on their ability to buy property, when it doesnt. It just means those that are less fortunate literally just *CANT* be homeless and would be accommodated with the basics for human survival like running water, power, insolated walls and a bed. The fact that housing has been treated as profitable to exploit the lower class, is the reason we have homeless people. Not because of your pre-conceived idea of their life you know nothing about.

Wolves they are always the villian of the story but in real life they are scared of humans and they have every right. Just a few weeks ago a lot people killed a lot of wolves because its "wolf season" or something that of sorts. These creatures are very misunderstood and yeah they are big and can kill a human but it won't unless its hunrgy or threated. A long time ago, there was a wolf hunt in europe killing a lot of wolves. They are beautiful creatures, strong, fast, loyal to their pack, and very protective of their pack.

It's not about lack of practice. It's about lack of abilities needed for this. I know myself. I know it would be dangerous to me and others for me to drive, so I do the responsible thing and I don't. And I get so much sh@@ for it. Like there's no way I can know myself better than this stranger who met me 5 minutes ago and can absolutely tell that I just need practice because that's how it worked for them.

For me it has been the opposite of what others write here. When I still ate meat, not a single vegan or vegetarian bugged me and I usually had to guess that they were vegan. But since I am vegan, people want to talk about food with me *all the time* and I don't bring the topic up myself because I just want to be left alone with my choices. So many people have asked me why (health reasons are apparently way more acceptable than doing it for the animals or the environment), told me it's unhealthy (it's not if you inform yourself about nutrition, which you also should do if you eat meat) and explain to me what kind of meat they eat (I don't care). Also, how many vegans commented on this post compared to those who apparently feel compelled to tell everyone here that they are not vegan?

I have been a vegetarian for 40 years, and I could not believe the hostility we received from people. It was as if our choice..which was about ethics, not health...inflamed other people. We never tried to push our views on anyone, we were just living the life we felt was right for us, but we would hear things like:"It only has a little meat in it."...or..."But your shoes are leather'!" I guess some people are just insecure about their life choices and cannot accept people who make other choices.

My issue with vegans is that often theyre some of the most entitled self righteous people ive ever met, and feel they have the right to lecture people. But even that might be fine if it wasnt for the fact that most of them ive met know absolutely NOTHING about the animals they dont wanna hurt. They have this weird idealistic idea of what nature is like that is completely wrong, generally city people who have never even been on a farm and have no idea how brutal nature is. Moral outrage is a privelidge of the wealthy, just like how its all the rage to wear ripped jean and buy furniture with peeling paint because they've never been in and can never imagine a situation where ripped clothes is genuinely all you have. You talk to people who raise livestock themselves and i guarantee you will see that they love the animals they raise and work their asses off to keep happy a thousand times more that someone on the internet who gets offended and wouldn't set foot in a barn because their shoes might get dirty. This is true even of animals raised for slaughter. Ive seen farmers cry over stillborns that would have been raised for meat, and trust me its not because loss of revenue. If you spend time in these places, you will quickly find that life is really not that clear cut, you might still be vegan after but i doubt you will still be able to prosecute others with such confidence.

I have lived on a farm my entire life and I assure you that if babies were stillborn or we had to put them down it wasn’t a good day and everyone was upset. Lack of revenue never factored in, it was the fact that we had to kill an animal or watch it be born dead that tore everyone up. The sheep did eventually get killed, I won’t lie about that, but we never mistreated them or were just upset about the money aspect when they died of things we couldn’t control. Being a farmer was all about respecting the animals and caring for them while they were alive. This is just my experience though.

They aren't as bad as reformed smokers. Which I am. I find it desperately hard not to preach. But a wise friend asked me, "it's all over the news, everyone knows it's bad for you, so do you think you're going to change someone who is spending 10-15 US dollars a day to keep doing a bad thing?" Same here. And I am not a vegan of any order. But I admire those who can. I even once proved to my husband that I could cook something with tofu that he would like. I did. Firm tofu tossed with a little smoke flavor as it cooks, ( cooks being a strong word) and proceeded to stir fry onions and garlic and half the garden, and served it over rice. I only asked him that I have a month to serve it in with regular meals so that he wouldn't know it was no meat. He loved it. No I didn't use butter. I used canola.

Problem is - they absolutely are hurting animals, just not the high profile ones normally eaten. There are small animals, rodents, insects, honeybees, and more living in all of those fields cleared to grow crops. Well, once the field is cleared, they're not living anymore. Don't get me wrong; I have nothing against vegans; you do you. But don't delude yourself into thinking that you are being virtuous by not killing cows or chickens.

Let people enjoy things. Music is art, and art is very personal. If you don’t like it, bring headphones. The only time it annoys me is if there’s gospel music in public places. Simply because gospel is very emotional and kind of moody. Like I just wanna sit here and eat my enchiladas and complain to my spouse about work that day. I’m not really in the mood to drop down on my knees in a fervent worship session at Jose Taco.

Worked in community services for a few years on a mandatory program for anyone on welfare to get them back to work. There were only three types of people 1. Want to work, 2. Absolutely unemployable at that moment in time, and 3. Incredibly lazy. There was hardly anyone in the lazy category. Some of the people experiencing homelessness or people addicted to drugs or alcohol wanted so so badly to get jobs but had too many personal challenges to be reliable enough to make it to work. Broke my heart.

Nuclear energy. Of the 3 big nuclear accidents (Chernobyl, Fukushima, Three Mile Island), two of those designs are no longer in use at any plant, and none of the designs have been used to build any new plants in decades. I’ve never understood food based stereotypes. “Ha ha! Those people eat that particular food. That’s so like them and why they’re terrible.” And it’s a food with broad appeal. Idiotic.

I love Coldplay as well. I mainly like metal but Coldplay have quite a lot of good songs perfect for dancing and jumping around like no one is watching! Amazing live as well, great energy

<Insert Current Videogame Popular with Kids>

Be it minecraft or fortnight or roblox or whatever, there always seems to be a game out which it is fashionable to s**t all over just because a certain group of people you find personally annoying enjoy.

Sure, I find the minecraft build tutorials narrated by someone who hasn't blown their nose once in their 14 years of life annoying, but you know what he's putting it out there and good on him.

Right now Diablo Immortal is my go to game. I know it's been labeled as pay to win (p2w) but I have found it very enjoyable and I have spent maybe $20 max on it. It's f2p (free to play) and there isn't a spending requirement at all. It's just to help in certain dynamics of the game.

Furries. They are a bit weird, but completely harmless. Especially compared with many other subcultures nowadays.

The Syrian children, likely terrified from fleeing the ongoing war in their home city, were greeted with brightly coloured and sympathetic fursuits who were absolutely delighted to share a hug with scared children.
