People Share Times When “There Was An Attempt” And Here Are 50 Of The Most Amusing Ones
We all know very well that things in this world tend to backfire. Call it a law of nature, a frequent twist of fate, or destiny. “Look who’s laughing now” is a phenomenon that has happened to virtually every one of us, and no matter what you do, it repeats again and again, and again.
The Reddit community “There Was An Attempt” is dedicated to precisely the comic absurdity of all the attempts in life that went against the plan, or turned in the wrong direction. Created in August 2015, the subreddit now has 1.9m members that are not immune to the funny attempts that “were there.”
“People enjoy the slapstick comedy of it. At the end of the day, everyone is laughing,” the subreddit’s moderator told Bored Panda in the interview that you can read in full below. And now we leave the stage to the ensued hilarity.

Bored Panda spoke to redditor u/F4T4-M0RG4N4, the moderator of the r/ThereWasAnAttempt subreddit, who said that the community has evolved a lot since it was created 5 years ago.
“When I first joined the team, it was mostly a screenshot sub. A few months back, there was some drama about how there were only three mods who ran the subreddit (which at the time had around a million members).” As a result, they invited more people to join the moderator team and removed the screenshot posts.

For those who’re wondering what, precisely, “there was an attempt” refers to, u/F4T4-M0RG4N4 explained that it’s basically about “someone attempting something but ultimately failing.”
Conceptually, it’s similar to “if someone tried jumping off a trampoline into a pool but when they tried to jump, the trampoline tore. In that case, you could say, 'Well... there was an attempt, at least' and that’s where our subreddit comes into play.”
The posts are mainly about “some people having a dumb idea, trying out that idea, and failing.” This misery is what makes it so funny.

Today, the moderator team only allows video submissions and cross-posts, “which are posts that were in one subreddit but were reposted to another (kind of like retweeting.” This format works better for r/ThereWasAnAttempt, since screenshots can more easily become reposts, for one.
Especially when there’s one similar subreddit that’s specifically for social media clapbacks and comebacks, but its content mainly features screenshots. When it comes to their 1.9 million member count, the moderator said that “I don’t think we have the exact same post frequency as, say, a meme subreddit.”
Partly, it’s because it isn’t easy to repost something from r/ThereWasAnAttempt. “I could probably look at the new section for r/memes and see quite a few frequent reposts.”

Am proudly a Muslim just like a Christian proudly a Christian and also like an atheist who is proudly an atheist!!!!!!! It's our believe when people think about freedom of speech, they forget about hurting other people's religion, but when we stand for our rights we are themed as paranoid. Just leave us alone, stop looking for trouble which you wouldn't get and exercise Human Rights fairly not partially degrading other people's religion. I quote everyone is different yet you try to make everyone the same religion, race, tribe all " Differences matters, yet that makes us who we are, denying our differences is denying the truth " I am A PROUD MUSLIM, it's me not you allow me to practice my religion in peace and stop popnosing on my affairs, everyone deserves right to religion just as u think!

But actually this is a technique I used in customer service. For example when you put a customer on hold to go get more info, you ask them if they’re happy to wait. When you get back you thank them for waiting. If you say “sorry for the wait” it suggests you did something wrong, when really you were just doing your job. It leaves a different impression on the customer and genuinely impacts satisfaction.

Don’t know how it’s in other countries, but here in NL apparently it’s one of the best paid low-education jobs available. A friend of mine did it as a student job while in university and apart from the smell he was quite happy with it.
My upstairs neighbor is a garbageman. He's a good guy. Told me about how he was a mess until his dad died and he promised to get a steady job. He takes his work very seriously, every day getting up at 5am to start work at 6am. That's what I call HARD and ESSENTIAL work!
Load More Replies...This hurts that there are people who would degrade ANYONE especially a man that works so hard I commend this hardworking man bless his heart..
Yep it’s definitely about more than just his job.
Load More Replies...People who disrespect waste disposal and other service and utility workers should have their utilities cut off and garbage go uncollected for several days. Then they’ll STFU and have an immense amount of respect for those professions.
The guys that collect trash in Schenectady are awesome! I make it a point to let them know my opinion at any opportunity. That and a six pack every so often.. :)
His place of having a decent job he’s probably good at and uses the money to help himself and his loved ones.
I live in Northern California and I have much respect for these Gentlemen ( I have yet to see a woman trashperson). I have baked them cookies, had hot chocolate on the cold days for them, given them presents for the holidays and have even just given them nice cards to say thank you for everything they do. I think they are one of the hardest working people around.
Knows his place? Was that troll implying that black people don't deserve better?
This is so sad, not everyone one can’t get a job because some people don’t like their race or the color of their skin. Just a sept everyone.
A man who knows his place is resting at work so he can keep going doing his much respected and appreciated job!!!!!
Anyone who says someone's place is a trash truck? Needs to work one for a week, and not as the driver!
Garbage men literally save society from drowning in trash and the resulting illnesses if trash was lying around.
The ones in my neighborhood are afraid of a little bug--they won't touch the bin if they see one.
My first thought when I saw this picture ... “Bless his heart”❣️
You have got to respect the people who try their best to keep the place clean.
They get good pay and benefits in Canada. This is a tough gig. I think they deserve our respect
My mate works in sanitation. He loves it and is paid 23 an hour. I'm very proud of him. Plus he's sexy as hell in his uniform. And he is not dumb. He has his education just prefers this to other work. Plus he knows there is never a shortage on garbage.
i have a friend who does it here in Canada and because hes a city employee he makes way more money than i do, he has a pension and benefits, gets all major holidays off plus some, and keeps anything cool he finds. he took home a 15foot aluminum boat one week and found a working motor for it the next.
Also a well paid job in Denmark for blue collars, very good holidays, full sickleave, all kinds of lidting devices to prevent backtrouble etc. and a very nescessary jobfunction too.
Not entirely a bad industry. I have a friend who started out as a collector on a large corporate waste removal company. Saw all the ways the company was ripping people off and using subpar, dangerous equipment. So a buddy of his and he bought a truck, started out on a single route with about 12 customers, today he owns 25 trucks, all top notch and pays his employees great wages, full benefits and yearly revenue profit sharing.
If you want to see amazing garbage men in action, go to New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Along parade routes that are over 4 miles long, the streets look like a party blew up all over them -- beads, cups, toys, cans, bottles, and beads, beads, and more beads! And they come down the street, and if you don't literally jump out of the way they will sweep you up, too! By an hour after the parade ends, there is ZERO evidence of it (except for beads caught in the trees). And in the French Quarter, even though there aren't regular parades during Mardi Gras, there are more drunks than you've ever seen in one place in your life. The combination of pee, puke, beer, and God only knows what else in the gutters (they call it "gravy") is washed down the drains, and the beads and cups and etc. are all cleaned up just like along the parade routes. And because there's no closing hour for bars, they end up doing it in the wee hours between about 4:00 to 5:00 a.m. It's SO impressive!
To Be A Professional Company
All that's gonna do is make more people drive drunk. If Uber is so concerned about people throwing up in their cars or being violent (which is understandable) they should charge a deposit and/or allow the drivers to have pepper spray or something to defend themselves if necessary (not guns!).

Made my day. More of this please 😊 me and my mom once explored pepper spray. We bought one and guess what-had to to try it.And we did in a single room sprayed smelled... like adult, educated woman and cried for hours... I wonder why 🤔
That's like the don't look reflex: when someone says "don't look" we all look to know what we aren't supposed to be looking at :D
