Law, morality, and common sense aren’t always one and the same. We all have our own personal insights into what society does wrong and there’s no denying that there should (probably) be some new laws to improve everyone’s lives.

Well, Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, invited his followers to participate in the #ThereShouldBeALaw challenge. He asked them to tweet out their opinions about what new laws we should totally have.

We collected some of the very best responses, so scroll down, upvote the suggestions for new laws that you agree with, and remember to share them with your friends. If you have any ideas for laws yourselves, share your thoughts with everyone in the comments below.

When you’re done looking through this list, check out our previous posts about Jimmy’s challenges, including the dumbest family fights, ruining movies with one extra word, and the coldest insults they’ve gotten.

If This were physically feasible, this would be a fantastic law!

Physically it's totally possible. Morally it is very very ambiguous and problematic.

Classes, tests and psych evaluation before driving a car, getting married, having children or owning a gun. Downvote me if you must, but there are just too many scary crazies out there

Actually Germans got the idea of Eugenics from American Scientists and some States continued to practice Eugenics up until the 1970s.

There aren’t enough downvotes. Scary to see so many people thinking eugenics is a funny idea.

What would be the factors in scoring to determine who gets to have kids? For example - intelligence? There are many smart people who did very evil things, including genocide. Money? If that were a factor, scumbag Bernie Madoff would pass. I could give many more examples.

Not an intelligence test. You would have to exhibit basic knowledge of what it takes to care for a tiny helpless human. You would have to exhibit proper development of reasoning and problem-solving skills. Obviously, it would be morally wrong to actually require a test. In the US, it is disheartening to see that the most vulnerable and unprepared are frequently those most likely to become teenage parents or young adult parents.

Do we really want the government controlling who has and doesn't have kids? I'm not conspiracy theorist but that sounds very much Nazi-like.

No, eugenics is devoted to making a *superior* human. This is a suggestion to make sure people know how to raise a child. But it has the same problems: who makes the rules?

In the situation projected, secretly having kids would be an impossibility. Women would have a procedure or an implant before they became fertile, and it would take showing the license to have it reversed. Sounds great...but who makes the rules?

Just make it as hard to have kids as it is to adopt a child and very few adoptions would be needed.

I don't agree. Everyone's parenting methods differ, and it's pretty ridiculous to sit a couple down, ask them what they know about raising children, and then ban them because they have no clue. Also, what if the test was written/invigilated by someone who only had one child, and the expectant parents were going to have twins? I'm not a parent, but I have cousins who are twins, and I know just how different the dynamic was raising two at once, instead of one, or even one every few years or so. Plus, sometimes, kids aren't planned, and there have even been instances of women giving birth who had no idea they were pregnant. How will the test account for them? One more thing, don't CPS exist for this very reason? To make sure expectant parents are ready for what lies ahead?

You have to take a course and pass a test and get a permit to drive. Should be the same for having kids

Children on school buses must wear seat belts---there should be at least one adult monitor to make sure the children are safe and the driver can focus on the traffic.

There should be a law that there are no laws, and people just use morality and common sense, instead of living in a nanny state. (Many think this is impossible but they need to open their minds!)

And what would you do with the people who have neither morals or sense, and lack empathy for good measure, but have extra helpings of greed, envy, lust, sadism, anger, hate, and fear? Surely you wouldn't want to create laws in the attempt to reign in those with any antisocial tendencies, would you? Because that's sort of the point of the legal system that most societies have now, you know...

I have been saying this for years. Put birth control in the water. Make people take a test to get the antidote and be fertile. This would be extremely effective and solve so many problems.

Bored Panda reached out to Abby Lampe, one of the people who responded to Jimmy Fallon and said that people who "can't use the correct use of too, to, two, and your, you're" should go to a mandatory workshop.

She believes that "a lot of people misuse homophones and although they may have been through the education system, they still have flawed grammar."

"I see it all the time throughout social media and people texting," Abby added.

"The law would be helpful for those who maybe were dropouts or didn’t take school very seriously. It would emphasize that grammar is important in today’s society and hopefully would allow them to understand the differences and how to use homophones correctly," she explained why such a law would actually be useful.

Abby told Bored Panda that she's a big fan of Jimmy's: "I’ve been in the audience and I’ve had two tweets appear on his show. I’ve been a fan for about 7 years now."

Bored Panda also spoke with Jesser who explained how there should be a law against using the same knife for peanut butter and jelly when making a sandwich.

According to the Twitter user, their family inspired them to come up with this law and they hope that this new law would teach people better manners and etiquette.

Jesser revealed that they're a fan of Jimmy's as well. "I rarely watched The Tonight Show before Jimmy Fallon was the host. He's fantastic!"

A lot of the things that people tweeted about in response to Jimmy’s challenge have to do with common sense. And you’re probably sick and tired of hearing this, but it’s applicable here: common sense is not common.

According to Dr. Jim Taylor on Psychology Today, common sense is one of the most “revered” qualities in the United States. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are as down to earth and practical as we might expect.

Taylor explains that if common sense were common, most people wouldn’t make the silly mistakes that they do every single day of their lives. In his opinion, if people had common sense, they wouldn’t “buy stuff they can’t afford.”

What’s more, they “wouldn’t smoke cigarettes or eat junk food.” In Taylor’s view, common sense is limited by our personal experience which can lead to bad decisions. In other words, for common sense to be common, we all need more education and worldly experience.

People should just mind their own business, seriously. People can speak whatever language they want... they're not hurting anyone! I commend people that frequently travel or after drive to pick up and move to an entirely different country. It's become so intolerable, I just don't get it

But what about morality not always being the same as the law? According to Dr. Eva Tsahuridu, the law “sets minimum standards of behavior while ethics set maximum standards.” That’s why something that’s legal doesn’t necessarily mean that we see it as acceptable or ‘good.’ It also works the other way, too: something that we consider to be ‘good’ doesn’t always become law. There’s an overlap between the two, sure, but they’re not one and the same.

However, that doesn’t mean that laws are useless. In fact, they’re vital for preserving civilization and allowing society to function. But it’s important to keep in mind that laws are very specific while morality is concerned with doing the right thing in life as a whole.

I actually didn't realize until recently how huge of a problem this is. This is a documentary I bumped into not too long ago, and it angered me beyond belief. This couple blatantly admitted having children so they could be taken care of. It's one thing when nature takes its course, and something happens where a parent needs constant care. It's a whole nother ballgame when parents have children only to have someone to take care of them. So angering. https://youtu.be/wzJDpEzpQug
