Jimmy Fallon Asks People To Share What Laws The World Is Lacking, And Here Are 30 Responses
Law, morality, and common sense aren’t always one and the same. We all have our own personal insights into what society does wrong and there’s no denying that there should (probably) be some new laws to improve everyone’s lives.
Well, Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show, invited his followers to participate in the #ThereShouldBeALaw challenge. He asked them to tweet out their opinions about what new laws we should totally have.
We collected some of the very best responses, so scroll down, upvote the suggestions for new laws that you agree with, and remember to share them with your friends. If you have any ideas for laws yourselves, share your thoughts with everyone in the comments below.

Bored Panda reached out to Abby Lampe, one of the people who responded to Jimmy Fallon and said that people who "can't use the correct use of too, to, two, and your, you're" should go to a mandatory workshop.
She believes that "a lot of people misuse homophones and although they may have been through the education system, they still have flawed grammar."
"I see it all the time throughout social media and people texting," Abby added.
"The law would be helpful for those who maybe were dropouts or didn’t take school very seriously. It would emphasize that grammar is important in today’s society and hopefully would allow them to understand the differences and how to use homophones correctly," she explained why such a law would actually be useful.
Abby told Bored Panda that she's a big fan of Jimmy's: "I’ve been in the audience and I’ve had two tweets appear on his show. I’ve been a fan for about 7 years now."
Bored Panda also spoke with Jesser who explained how there should be a law against using the same knife for peanut butter and jelly when making a sandwich.
According to the Twitter user, their family inspired them to come up with this law and they hope that this new law would teach people better manners and etiquette.
Jesser revealed that they're a fan of Jimmy's as well. "I rarely watched The Tonight Show before Jimmy Fallon was the host. He's fantastic!"
A lot of the things that people tweeted about in response to Jimmy’s challenge have to do with common sense. And you’re probably sick and tired of hearing this, but it’s applicable here: common sense is not common.
According to Dr. Jim Taylor on Psychology Today, common sense is one of the most “revered” qualities in the United States. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are as down to earth and practical as we might expect.
Taylor explains that if common sense were common, most people wouldn’t make the silly mistakes that they do every single day of their lives. In his opinion, if people had common sense, they wouldn’t “buy stuff they can’t afford.”
What’s more, they “wouldn’t smoke cigarettes or eat junk food.” In Taylor’s view, common sense is limited by our personal experience which can lead to bad decisions. In other words, for common sense to be common, we all need more education and worldly experience.
I think carpeted bathrooms are so nasty... imagine what grows under there.... barf
I don't mind scatter rugs that can be taken up and washed, but imagine all the mold, mildew and urine that gets soaked into those bad boys on a daily basis! Gah!
Initially, it was meant for the 'guest bathroom' that nobody used, or magazine shoots. Then idiots thought it was a 'thing'. Something you did to look affluent.

Had carpet in our bathroom growing up, it was gross and nasty! Especially since the bathroom didn’t have a fan or way of venting ( against the law!)

I used to put washable carpets on nasty rental apartment bathroom floors. Like a giant bathmat.

Who even thinks this is a good idea? I want the floor to all tilt to the middle and have drain in the floor right in the middle.
We once lived in a rental with a carpeted bathroom... That often had mushrooms growing out of it 😳🤢
I'm a major germaphob. Imagine my horror when our real estate agent said the house we were looking at in 2016 was built in 1973 and still had the original flooring. INCLUDING THE CARPETED BATHROOM! My husband had to find a logical way to explain why there was a grown a*s woman on the front lawn acting like she discovered a dead body in the closet. I'm having a panic attack just thinking of the house.
Here's the problem: if you stand up to p**s, some droplets always hit the floor. They splash right out of the water in the bowl so aim isn't the issue. A carpet bathroom is DISGUSTING for this very fact. Unless everyone sits down 100% of the time, every carpeted bathroom floor is literally covered in p**s around the toilet.
Because of three of the diseases I have, I actually need a carpeted bathroom. Germs grow everywhere too on vinyl, stone and wooden floors. If they're not washed daily then they harbour Appalling germs too. Besides it's only me in the house, no men who are incapable of aiming correctly at a toilet 😉
I've never even heard of this and I'm 41 years old! That's nasty right there! Why?
Or just make it a habit to sit down, no matter what gender you are and what your business will be.

I don't understand why anyone would think this is a good idea. If you don't want to step on cold floor, just get a couple of bath rugs you can easily clean. Carpeted bathrooms are just nasty.
People should just mind their own business, seriously. People can speak whatever language they want... they're not hurting anyone! I commend people that frequently travel or after drive to pick up and move to an entirely different country. It's become so intolerable, I just don't get it
But what about morality not always being the same as the law? According to Dr. Eva Tsahuridu, the law “sets minimum standards of behavior while ethics set maximum standards.” That’s why something that’s legal doesn’t necessarily mean that we see it as acceptable or ‘good.’ It also works the other way, too: something that we consider to be ‘good’ doesn’t always become law. There’s an overlap between the two, sure, but they’re not one and the same.
However, that doesn’t mean that laws are useless. In fact, they’re vital for preserving civilization and allowing society to function. But it’s important to keep in mind that laws are very specific while morality is concerned with doing the right thing in life as a whole.
And if they get caught with one, a standard 10 year sentence should be implemented
I actually didn't realize until recently how huge of a problem this is. This is a documentary I bumped into not too long ago, and it angered me beyond belief. This couple blatantly admitted having children so they could be taken care of. It's one thing when nature takes its course, and something happens where a parent needs constant care. Apart from the problem of employers not allowing you to be off work through sickness
...and there should be a secondary law that they must reply....bc that's just rude.
A corollary axiom to this law - IF you chose to wear skin coloured leggings, they must have a dark triangular patch on the crotch so it looks like pubic hair. If you're not too embarrassed to wear that, then knock yourself out.
Don't listen to Frankie goes to Hollywood's "Welcome to the Pleasuredome" because you'd think the air raid alarms are going off in your neighborhood and these days it might be more realistic then ever.

There should be a law, that the prosecutor have to put twice as much time on asking about the suspected rapist underwear, clothes and sexual background, as have been spent on asking the victims the same thing.
It's sad how in America the victim has to prove their innocence in rape cases and how the lawyer for defense has the right to literraly drag the victim through the mud. I really don't agree with women saying that it doesn't matter if men go to jail on false accusions of rape, but I also can't understand why a lawyer has the right to harras a victim.

There should be a law that we (The United States) are not allowed to go to war with another country unless 75% of our citizens can find that country on a map.

There should be a law against turning EVERYTHING into a YouTube video. No, it is not the best format for tutorials that do not require moving pictures to explain. Telling me how to create a foreach loop in ssis with variables requires TEXT and PICTURES not videos.
Yes! It takes forever to find simple written tutorials by now, if you find one at all.

I know this is just for fun, but just to play Devil's advocate: just remember every law you make with good intentions can be used for bad intentions. Think about how each of these laws could be corrupted.
UK - make the Green Cross Code (stop, look, listen) into an actual law so that idiots on their phones stop just ambling out into the road. Fun fact - the guy who bodied Darth Vader was the Green Cross Code man.
There should be a law where females have equal rights and protection under the law and physical autonomy
There should be a law that when you close a pop-up ad, no more ads appear in its place less than a second later.
Or at the top of an escalator because they don' tknow where to go next.

There should be a law to stop people to comment "First" on youtube videos, specially when they are NOT first.
there should be a law that says, that you cant own a gun with out a valid reason
In Scotland the police come round every year to check on it and if you haven't used it or don't have a valid reason to use it they take it away (handguns are also prohibited) in Scotland guns are really only used for hunting fowl.

I fully agreed to so many that yes, there should be a law against this injustice, then I realized I do not live in the USA and we already have all these laws in place.
The only one I didn't like was the Christmas one. I'm kind of irritated with the Christmas haters lol - I don't tell people how to decorate their home. I wouldn't even think of telling them what kind of music to listen to. Yet....Christmas music/decorating enrages people.
I'm pretty sure they were talking about public spaces. Like stores. They start putting out x-mas stuff way too early.

Can't agree with the one about paying attention to every dog and cat one sees. I HATE, DESPISE, ABHOR, DETEST cats with a vengeance! I do stop and communicate with dogs if I know they're a safe one, but never with unknown ones---I'm not about to be the next victim of some animal that's gone berserk! Stupid suggestion from some stupid person who's far too much into their own fantasies about animals.
There should be a law that if someone opens or holds a door open for you, you must acknowledge them and say "Thank you."
There should be a law that if a drug is advertised on TV, you can get it for free from the company. And be compensated when you get all the nasty side effects.
There should be a law that whenever the cashier asks if you want to donate to a charity you should be able to donate a portion of your bill that charity, if in fact they are really being charitable. Or at least have your sales tax applied to that charity.
There should be a law against drunk people on trains. Going home from London is never nice when the person sitting in front of you is puking into a carrier bag....
There should be a law that people have to pass a test, a psyche exam and get a license for having pets, and should be jailed if they abuse or abandon the animal. And there should be a law that acts of blatant stupidity in public are punishable with a fine or jail time..
Driving holding your phone in front of you as it's on speaker and you think it's not breaking the law. Especially if the car has Bluetooth and the person is too lazy to spend 10 seconds setting it up.
We do because people are too stupid to help themselves.
