At The Open Book, in Wigtown, Scotland, you can fulfill your dream of running a bookstore. The unique Airbnb flat costs just 57 USD a night, but it comes with a stipulation: renters also work at the bookshop on the first floor, doing everything that a regular bookshop owner might do.
“This project started about two years ago,” the owners told Bored Panda. “We wanted a way for people to experience the dream of having their own bookshop by the sea in Scotland (who doesn’t fantasize about that?), without making a huge commitment. Am I the only one to find that 57USD a night and having to work at the same time is greatly exaggerated?
No, you're not the only one. But I'd have to compare to US' accomodation prices' standards. But indeed I'd rather take a work+stay program, or pay a bit more and enjoy my free time.

so your telling me people pay to have the privilege to work for free? Sounds awful. Wonder if this violates any regulation standards considering most travelers don't have a working permit.
I have a superb flat in Perth - I enormous executive bedroom - all top quality - en suite bathroom with double wash basin double Jacuzzi bath shower and loo - separate loo in the flat - fully equipped kitchen - open dining room - sitting room - 1st floor - best street in town in the café quarter - entry by buzzer phone - communal hall and garden on ground level and local estate agents are telling me the most I can get in rent is £600 pcm - which is £20.00 per night..........how does that work?????

57 USD a night and having to work 8 hours a day? Maybe if it only required helping out a few hours in the shop or something. And I guess you have to keep the shop open at "normal" hours, so you can't really go out and explore the town so... Also... why would you go on a vacation... to work?
I should think that you could ask more for your flat, and get it. I would expect to pay twice that amount, partly due to its location in the cafe district (from which I feel I can infer a Bohemian air?) It sounds like an absolutely lovely flat.
Wigtown is a special place for book lovers...it's the bookstore capital of Scotland. It's population is only 1000 people but it supports at least 5 bookstores, as seen on Google Maps. As an aside is also the home of the fictious Wigtown Wanders Quidditch team.
