I Prove That A Phone Is Enough For Taking Eye-Catching Pictures
I enjoy capturing moments that tell a story – a story full of emotion. And yes, only using my smartphone.
After receiving such positive comments on my photos, I decided to put my heavy camera aside and stick with my lightweight smartphone. I try not to over edit my pictures and that is why I only use the tools on Instagram to edit them.
My Instagram @guigurui has allowed me to share my storytelling images and passion for travel and tourism with everyone and there is nothing more rewarding than gaining a new follower and receiving a positive comment. Enjoy!

gear is critical but at the end of the day it still all depends on the monkey behind the camera. but still u need a decent camera.
I've taken some fantastic photos with my phone, pictures I would have missed because I wasn't prepared with my camera. Your eye for composition is amazing, I envy it!

'the best camera is the one you have with you' - do find it odd that a camera (albeit) within a phone still not regarded as a REAL camera. Are we bothered what brand paint Picasso used?
Its easy to take pictures of beautiful places. Try to take beautiful pictures of your foot with a phone. There is a big difference.

I don't know how people make such good pictures with their smartphones. I've the Lumia 930, at the release there where rumors about the best smartphone cam in the world but when i'm taking pictures on vacation, they all look like s**t.
i am tired of " you don`t need a camera....". in my opinion photography is 90% light and composition so everything that can take a decent shot works. But it depends on what type of photography you do.
These are really good. Still, with like a 7 megapixel camera you couldn't do that.
I think when you have talent and creativity, you're able to use the tools at hand and perform miracles...
Love to know how he manages this quality only using Instagram apps. The first photo was taken with an iPhone?!?!
I do only use Intagram to edit my pictures :) and not with an iPhone but a Google Nexus 5 :)

You need much more than a phone if you want to control how the light is used. A good few photos are grainy which you wouldn't get so badly if you could open the aperture and bring the ISO down.... and flash? Good luck getting good pictures in low light with a phones flash. Lovely photos though. A photograph comes down to both the equipment and the photographer. C**p equipment and a photographer with a good eye, nice but low quality images. Good equipment with a c**p photographer..... high quality but not nice. You couldn't do sports photography on a phone
If I can be allowed to disagree... You may be able to take professional *looking* pictures, but the distinction between looking and being professional is the entire world of commerce, clients, technical skill, and aesthetic acumen all combined to create a commercially viable product. What you are doing is underscoring what is the complete erosion of a generation of actual professional photographers. Anyone can make a beautiful photograph, and equipment is not the deciding factor, but not everyone can be a professional. You're an accomplished hobbyist who can't distinguish between looking and being professional.
You can frame it professionally, but the photos are not professional due to the poor cell phone camera.
These are great photos with very creative perspectives. There are definitely limitations to what a phone can do, but you illustrate the better qualities for sure. Nothing can beat the convenience of a camera phone for spontaneous moments. Without it, many of our images wouldn't have been captured at all, but I will always take a higher quality camera with me when it is accessible or appropriate.
you will know you are an actual photographer when you get over yourself and hate most of your photos. picking up a digital camera or iphone and calling yourself a pro is like picking up a calculator and saying you are a mathematician . i am sorry for being harsh but it is people like yourself that are ruining the CRAFT of photography. can you develop color and b&w film by hand ? what about print in a dark room ? can you use a fully manual film camera, one that doesnt have fancy bells and whistles or even a battery ? can you use a handheld light meter ? what about studio lighting ? can you create darkroom chemicals from scratch using bulk chemicals ? do you know how to print ra4 using a colorhead ? do you even know what ra4 is without googling it ? do you know what rc vs fb paper is ? i am going to say probably not. i also notice you compared yourself to one of the founders of magnum photos below which is an absolute stretch. you are not a pro, or even close to it.
Dusty, He is an photographer. He has taken excellent pictures with is Nexus 5 phone. He has other camera equipment too.

All my respect, you are a great artist and photographer!!! ...but I have to say that you´re wrong about saying that you can make PROFESSIONAL photography with a Phone. Professional ANYTHING means more than just looking like pro. It´s like saying FAKE Hugo Boss is the same like REAL Hugo Boss just because both products look the same. I couldn´t help not to coment because youre statemant is what affects most PROFESSIONAL photographers these days. Use the correct terms: Pro look a like. This is what makes photographers have to argue with clients and explain them what PRO means when they saty: " Why should I pay you XXX USD when I can take the same photos with my phone. smile emoticon PRO means years of training and experience and if what you say you are PRO about involves equipment (in any area), PRO means you work with the best equipment and know how to handle it and invested time and money in it. Hmm, interesting thought. What do you think about Henri Cartier Bresson? In todays world there are much more pro equipent than what was used by him...does that not make his photography pro? In 1932 he began to use a Leica 35mm camera and used it for the remainder of his career, almost always with a 50mm lens. It was simple, discreet and easy to carry, giving him everything he wanted. “Photography has not changed since its origin except in its technical aspects, which for me are not important.”- Henri Cartier-Bresson. More than seeing it as a "real" Hugo Boss vs a "fake" Hugo Boss I would compare it more to...only becauase you wear expensive clothing doesn't mean you will look good in it. In the sense that, one can't buy class. People can be classy without expensive clothing. And not all people with expensive clothing are classy. I have been taking photography with "professional equipment" for quite a long time now, but have replaced it with my smartphone.
