Texas Police Hilariously Educate Bad Parkers By Gifting Coloring Page Encouraging Them To ‘Stay In The Lines’

While staying in the lines is definitely a challenging skill to obtain for a kindergartener, it would seem obvious that people would get the hang of it by the time they reach adulthood and are old enough to get a driver’s license. But that’s surely not the case for everyone. It’s certainly annoying to see people parking across two parking spots anywhere, but it’s even worse to spot a terrible parking job next to a handicapped parking spot.

A police department in Southlake, Texas came up with a simple yet genius solution to this problem and are trolling people who park terribly with these witty fliers.

The Southlake Department of Public Safety came up with a really creative idea for how to fight terrible parking. They made a flier with a coloring page for the drivers who can’t park properly to learn staying in the lines.

They leave coloring pages for drivers so they can practice staying in the lines

While some policemen would simply fine the drivers who can’t manage to park properly, Southlake police go the extra mile by teaching them a lesson. “We noticed you had a little trouble staying in the lines when you parked next to a handicapped space… maybe if you practice coloring our patch and staying in the lines here, it could help you avoid citations in the future,” they warn in the flier.

They also urged people to drive and park kindly in a Twitter post

“We try to avoid snark and sass (we REALLY do), but sometimes our fair citizens make it hard,” Southlake DPS said in a Twitter post. “Please stay in the lines when you park ESPECIALLY if it’s next to a handicapped spot or you might be the recipient of one of our new fliers.”

ALL cops are human and they all have a sense of humor. We just don't often get to see it. But if we are lucky to experience it it is really a great mirror of what they deal with every day and how they deal with it. I bless them AND their families for what they do, will do and have done. Thank you so much guys.

Comic Sans has visual advantages. Research has shown it is the best font for people with dislexia. Decrying it based on personal taste discourages educators from using it, to the detriment of students.

I like the font comic sans.... it's easier for people with dyslexia to read (I don't have dyslexia though, I mainly like it for the way it looks)

i am one who too gets very upset when i see a .....PIG....taking up extra space into others spaces in a parking lot but i feel the owners of the lots need to enlarge them so one could exit their car without hitting the car next to them because the spaces are made to small. i feel for the larger cars because they do have a hard time trying to fit into the small spaces......yes you say it is their stuff luck...but i say the owners of the lots cause alot of parking problems....i park as far away from other cars because i don't want my doors or side of my car dinged.....i have even gotten to the point of avoiding certain shopping centers all together...

No. It's people who just don't care about anyone else. My husband and I had a Ford Expedition which is the second largest SUV ford makes. My husband never had a problem getting into a parking space in that truck. I see small cars crossing the lines. I use a wheelchair when we're out. We don't currently have handicap plates and people who cross the lines make it really hard to get in and out of the car. I love this idea. Southlake is a suburb of my city of Fort Worth TX.

Yes! People who block or park in disabled bays without a badge should be forced to spend a week in a wheelchair - perhaps it would help them develop a little bit of understanding and empathy.
