‘Don’t Hold Back’: This Heartwarming Comic Is Making Everyone Cry

You should never be ashamed of your tears. Don’t hold them back—cry, if you want to. That’s the message that artist Tum Natakorn Ulit from Bangkok wanted to spread with his newest bittersweet, poignant, and beautiful comic about a boy who can’t cry and whose tears start filling up his head.

The artist told Bored Panda that his latest ‘cry, if you want to’ comic was inspired by a water balloon. “I see it as a thing that is sometimes fragile but sometimes powerful. Water in balloons can be compared to tears of people who always keep it and never release, and we do not know when it will blow up.” Scroll down for the rest of our insightful chat with Ulit about his art.

Artist Tum Ulit created a new comic about a boy who can’t cry
Ulit revealed to Bored Panda that he spent an entire month thinking about this idea before summing up the concept and creating the comic about crying.
The artist explained that he believes being an artist has always been his main purpose in life ever since he was very young.
“I cannot describe exactly in steps how I developed my style, but I believe that every detail in my comics comes from what I really am, or some come from what I experienced,” he said when we asked him about how he created his unique art style that immediately draws attention.
Ulit believes that other artists should be themselves and try to make sure that their artwork doesn’t hurt anyone.
There are naturally people who look up to him and want to follow in his footsteps, however, Ulit doesn’t believe that his path is the perfect fit for everyone.
“I do not believe that my footsteps will fit or be the best way for everyone to follow. Every person has their own path and uniqueness,” he pointed out.
However, he added that he hopes that other people and artists will get some positive and good things from his artwork. And that’s enough for him.

it's sweet how the cat stops the guy from hurting himself. part of me believes that that part of the comic symbolizes how people think hurting themselves will make them feel better, but all they need to do is let out their feelings. Please, people, don't come tell me how it's not true and stuff, it's just my opinion hhhhdgxhvc-
It's so weird for me. But I physically cannot cry. I don't know why.
Some medications will stop people from crying. Ever since I was on anti-depressants, I can't cry either. I feel very sad, but tears just don't come. Before the medication, I'd have no problem crying, and do so most nights. So yeah, if you do happen to be on meds, that might be why.
