This Kid Surprises His Teacher By Gifting Her An Actual Chicken For Teacher Day
While the hard work teachers do to educate our younger generation often goes unnoticed, one day a year they get special attention — it’s during the teacher’s day. On this special day, students bring small gifts to their teachers as a sign of appreciation. And while most of them gift flowers, sweets, chocolate and prepares little notes, recently one boy surprised her teacher with something seriously unexpected — a chicken.

Well, it’s safe to say that the little boy made the teacher’s day very memorable for Talon Claude who lives and teaches third-graders in General Santos City, Philippines.
The teacher posted pictures of her special gift on her facebook and wrote “It doesn’t matter how expensive or how cheap it is. It’s always the thought that counts.”
Claude, who works at Banwalan Primary School told SunStar that a day before the teacher’s day she encouraged to bring something for the teachers at the school. One student asked Claude if he could bring her a chicken.
“There are only three of us, teachers, so I told the students to bring something and give to any of us. One of the students asked if he can bring a chicken. I said yes as long as it is from the heart and his parents are aware. I told them they can give whatever they want” she told SunStar.
However, the teacher didn’t expect to actually receive a chicken, as she initially thought it was a joke. “I was shocked. I thought it was just a joke. One of the teachers suggested that we cook and eat it. But I wanted to document it first because it was my first time to receive a chicken”.
The teacher gracefully accepted the generous yet unexpected gift and had a good laugh with her colleagues.

Share on FacebookI suppose it depends on where you are in the world. I imagine this is somewhat common in rural areas. I have a relative who was a school teacher in a rural part of Illinois at the turn of the 20th Century, she got home-canned vegetables and jams from her students.
That chicken is a gem for those who are living in rural parts of that country. So that shows how they value their teacher for giving it away. ♥ All the love for you kiddo :*
Makes it all the sadder that they want to cook and eat it. It was probably providing eggs for the kid's family and now that value will be gone in one meal.
Load More Replies...That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard. That chicken was probably worth a lot for that family and the student must value his teacher very much. What a lovely boy. Hope he gets as much love as he gives.
My next door neighbor growing up was a teacher and the day after gift-giving she would immediately put many of the gifts out on the curb! My family got so many good things over the years this way, the best being a set of plaid ice cream bowls and Smuckers toppings. The bowls are still in use.
My poor teachers only got a #1 Teacher coffee mug. I wonder how many of them had a full set ;)
Ulag was very poor and his teeth had been gifted by a friend who was a Dentist-tecnition and there was no way he could replace them.We looked and looked and did not find them. The day after Ulag came in from his Nipa-hut in the rice-field grinning from ear to ear flashing a brilliant smile of 50 even teeth. He was on his way home,in tears, and in frustration gave a kick to a fallen coco-nut and as it rolls away something white is glistening in the sun.His teeth embedded in the coco-nut!! Ulag had gotten gloriously drunk and in the dark tripped over the nut and accidentially bit into it.....A VERY good Fiesta it was, best ever!!
This bring to mind my BEST EVER holiday..Some 20 years ago I was invited to visit my Philippine sister-in-laws family.Lined up was the 3 day Fiesta bringing back to the church the local Saint who had spent the past year in their house. A Fiesta is a huge thing and lots of work goes into the preparation. An oxen named Violetta was killed (philippinos have a little bit of trouble with He/She) as the whole village was expected to attend and it would be shameful if not enough food.3 groups of dancers to lead the procession. The Church was beautifully decorated with flowers and all along the main-road the children had made a canopy of white plastic bags cut out and tied on strings.Booze was plenty-full and as the Fiesta was a 3 day event there were lots of sore heads and some regret, but everybody loved it except my new Best Friend Ulag.He showed up at our house the 3rd day heart-broken because he had lost his teeth (sic)
"One of the teachers suggested that we cook and eat it. But I wanted to document it first because it was my first time to receive a chicken”. -- Ummmm, wanted to document it first? So she's going to eat it instead of keep as a pet or for eggs? Glad the boy didn't give her a puppy.
