This Teacher Had Enough Of The BS Parents And Kids Give Her, So Before Quitting She Posted This Epic Rant Online
One could argue that the U.S. education system has been in crisis for some time now, consistently scoring lower down on world education rankings than you might expect. But this viral post from a teacher from Texas has highlighted just how desperate the situation is for some teachers, and it’s not just down to a lack of funding.
Julie Marburger, a sixth-grade teacher at Cedar Creek Intermediate School, is at her wits end in the profession that she previously had such a passion for. “It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to have a classroom of my own,” she wrote. “And now my heart is broken to have become so disillusioned in these short two years.” She has already made the decision to quit teaching, and eloquently outlines why in a desperate and passionate post about the shortcomings of parents, administrators and government support.
Her post has resonated with many people, being shared almost 400,000 times over social media and prompting an outpouring of support and sympathy from fellow teachers who are also struggling to cope. Julie believes that teachers are leaving the profession “in droves” and there is a major crisis looming in the education system unless something changes soon.
Parents also need to be a part of the solution. Instead of blaming the teachers for their kid’s failings, Julie thinks that they should perhaps look closer to home. “People absolutely HAVE to stop coddling and enabling their children,” she said. “It’s not fair to society, and more importantly, is not fair to the children to teach them this is okay. It will not serve them towards a successful and happy life.”

Julie Marburger thought teaching was her dream job, but after working as a teacher for two years she’s already had enough
At her wits end, she decided to reveal her struggles in a passionate post that has strongly resonated with people
She also added some photos from her classroom showing the damage children have done in just two days
She also stated that all of the items were purchased by her and not by the school because they have no classroom budget
“I have never heard of a profession where people put so much of their heart and soul into their job, taking time and resources from their home and family, and getting paid such an insultingly measly amount”
“It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to have a classroom of my own”
“Now my heart is broken to have become so disillusioned in these short two years”
“Any passion for this work I once had has been wrung completely out of me”
“THIS HAS TO STOP”
The post went crazy viral, with almost 400,000 shares and many teachers started sharing similar stories

I completely agree, I've worked in education for 8 years and its getting worse and worse. Many young people are loosing the affinity for shame, respect and curiosity. I know many people might read the use of the word shame and reel back in horror but shame is your conscience telling you when you've done something wrong, which is necessary in the pursuit of knowledge and the development of your moral compass, which is very important, especially between the age of 8 - 18. Perhaps their should be more information for parents to learn what they can do to enhance their children's education?
Why the hell would they be interested in shame, respect or curiosity when their role models are Logan Paul and the Kardashians
...Don't remind me, Logan Fucking Paul...unbelievable. Remember when young people were inspired by rock bands like the Sex Pistols and Rage Against the Machine?...Good times
Your problem, if you let them watch that stuff. Maybe parents should have some control on that. I remember , my parents had. I did not like it at the teenage time, but was very proud in my 20ties NOT to know much about such folks. And I still do not now nor care.
You hit the nail on the head, the so call "role models" of our society are utter trash.
Apparently Jake Paul is a religion now
WHY are the children watching this crap on tv? Perhaps the parents need a course in shame, respect and curiosity, so they could be their child's role model. The kids of today are bought with whatever is their pleasure, to occupy them, so the parents can have their time to do whatever is their pleasure. NOT ALL PARENTS ARE LIKE THIS! Some parents actually care about their children enough to spend their time doing things WITH their children. Those are the ones that graduate college and go on to eccellent jobs. Quit the blame crap. Do a check up on yourself. Do you really know what your kids are doing?

I’m not sure who Logan Paul is but what do the Kardashians do that’s anti curiosity, disrespectful or shameful? The vast majority of parents are very bad, very unintelligent people. And this anti-Kardashian sentiment is shared among them. Disparaging the Kardashians is a national pastime for some of the most awful and unintelligent people. It’s not intellectual social commentary.

Dear Aaron, there's a bit difference there. Inspired by rock bands like Sex Pistols and RATM mostly just on their music and ideas, and yes, there are always some who follow them entirely, including their drugs addiction and messed up life. But Logan Paul is basically selling 'himself' as a product, even more than his sloppy hair, it's his life, his ideas, his pranks, his behavior, so I can say idolizing Logan Paul would be more than laughing at his videos.
The lack of shame is the most insidious part. So many parents and their kids have no table manners, treat their bodies and minds with utter disrespect, trash their days away with zero intellectualism, and don't seem to care what anyone thinks of them. And yet there is a growing pride in hillbilly culture, redneck culture, Confederate culture—it's so disgusting. So few people strive for rich, creative, intellectual lives anymore.

Hey, Meowton just to let you know Logan and Jake Paul are twin brothers who, I think, worked for Disney but were let go after they released many many disrespectful videos, got in trouble with the law, and made a video literally laughing at a suicide victim they found hanging from a tree. The Kardashians are basically only famous for their sex tapes that were "accidentally" leaked and have made no real contributions.
That's not what affinity means. Hope you don't teach english.
My brain hurts reading that. To *did that on purpose* many gargantuan expressions!
Stopped reading after "loosing"
there are lots of schools like this, but there are also lots more that are the opposite. Don't give up on your dream, maybe just try another school? You seem like a teacher who cares, and the right kids (the ones that want to learn) are out there needing you.
I agree. Find a better place to work, i.e. a fancier school.
She clearly is very passionate about her job!
Agreed!

This stuff is standard and was going on when I was in school. She's just bailed on one set of kids, dont encourage her to do it again. She's not cut out for it clearly.
parents are big part of the problem and the school for being so weak and afraid of parents. that's a shame!
