Revenge is a dish best served cold — that’s what some people who hate seeing jerks cut in line believe. However, revenge can sometimes go too far. A Redditor named Bill1nfamou5 told the story of how you should never cut in line and that you should never piss off your tattoo artist. Ever. Otherwise, you might end up with a tattoo that you don’t want and your wallet will be far lighter than you’d like it to be.
Be sure to scroll down for Bored Panda’s interview with the Redditor, according to whom what happened was “possibly the weirdest and dumbest experience” they have ever had in a tattoo shop. “Had I not been there to see the completely absurd entitlement of these two I never would have believed it,” Bill1nfamou5 said. The Redditor also mentioned that the tattoo shop, found in the “far West Valley in Phoenix, Arizona,” has been closed “for several years now.”
One Reddit user told the story of what happens when you anger a tattoo artist by acting rudely

A couple acted like complete jerks to everybody at a tattoo parlor
The Redditor was getting a tattoo done by his friend Liz when a couple of jerks barged in, ignoring the huge line of people waiting to be served, and demanded that they get tattoos first. Right then and there.
One of the tattoo artists decided that some revenge was due
Naturally, one of the tattoo artists thought it’d be best to teach the jerk duo a lesson. He drew a tiny tattoo on the arrogant girl’s ankle, demanded money for a custom job and then pointed to a “no change” sign. This meant the girl ended up paying 50 dollars for a tattoo she didn’t want. Three guesses whether this situation made her rethink her life afterward?
In an interview with Bored Panda, Bill1nfamou5 shared a few more thoughts about what happened that day.
“We were all laughing at first because we thought she was joking and were all surprised and kinda stunned when we realized she wasn’t,” the Redditor said about the incredibly rude tattoo parlor customer.
Bill1nfamou5, who revealed that he has 13 tattoos on his forearms, added that he personally didn’t think that what the tattoo artist did was right.
The Redditor also mused as to why some people act rudely and without caring about others: “I think people end up with a sense of entitlement through one reason or another and will spend the rest of their lives acting like the world owes them something.”
Some Redditors thought the story seemed odd: they thought it was weird that there was a line at the tattoo parlor, that there was a ‘no change’ policy and that nobody tried to stop the jerk couple. However, as several internet users pointed out, lines at tattoo parlors are nothing new when there’s a special discount for work done on a particular day. What’s more, not all tattoo parlors like to have a lot of cash on premises in case of robberies.
And as to why nobody reacted to the aggressive jerk couple, well, there’s a thing called the bystander effect. Also known as bystander apathy, the effect means that we, as human beings, are far less likely to help victims of a crime or an accident when others are near us. The bigger the crowd, the more likely we are to think that somebody else will help the victim.
Bored Panda asked Bill1nfamou5 what he thought of some people thinking that his story wasn’t true. Here’s what he had to say: “Does it sound too strange to be true? Absolutely. I wish I was creative enough to fabricate something so truly bizarre but oftentimes reality is stranger than any fiction could be. Had I not been there to see the completely absurd entitlement of these two I never would have believed it but, alas, I was there, I saw it happen, and I’m still shocked at how someone can be so demanding, especially so early in the morning.”
What do you think of what happened, Dear Pandas? Do you think that the jerk couple deserved what they got? What would you have done? What do you think of the bystander effect? We can’t wait to hear your thoughts, so drop us a line in the comments below.
People’s opinions about what happened varied
I don’t agree with permanently marking someone because they were a douche. The K’s should have just been kicked off the premises instead. I think the tattooist was extremely unprofessional, If in fact this story is true.
How professional can a tatooist be if they offer $13 tattoos?
Load More Replies...Odd story. Juridical, any tattoo is bodily harm. And without explicit consent this is a crime. A crime sanctionized much stronger than theft of $31! That these people were jerks does not change this.
They didn't just consent, they demanded it. But I agree, shouldn't be marked permanently for being a db.
Load More Replies...Amusing story. Probably completely untrue. Plus, refusing to give change is effectively theft in itself. I'd be taking the shop to court, and I would definitely win a bigger payout than £50 😅
Both tattoo artist and customer are jerks. On professional level it is a misconduct.
Hm. I think this is neither a good story ("hurr hurr, I tattooed someone with a permanent crappy tattoo because they misbehaved in my shop!") nor well researched. I mean, this is literally "I read it on reddit and the reddit person confirmed that the person he got it from is legit!". Had this involved more research (finding the shop and contacting the tattoo artist) it could have been interesting and an opportunity to discuss the limits of paybacks, but this way, it is merely hearsay of people behaving badly on both sides.

Load More Replies...That's not ok, the tattoo artist is the worst party there. Sure, a*****e clients are a reality and they can suck, but permanently marking their skin with something that 1) you knew they wouldnt like and 2) that will age very poorly (as small, overly detailed tattoos do) is a horrible thing to do.
Post author said he contacted the Redditor who confirmed the story was true. I'm not sure where this happened, but I'm quite in agreement with C - in the US, at least, a licensed tattoo parlor has you sign legal documents stating you are of legal age, you consent to having a tattoo done, understand the health risks (infection, ink allergy, etc) and that it's voluntary. I only have one tattoo, but I did a LOT of research on where to go because I also regularly donate blood, and you cannot donate blood after getting a tattoo if it's not at a regulated, licensed facility (at least in Wisconsin).
I don't believe this at all -- also wondering about the price. Here a tattoo, no matter the size costs about double the price, just for the needle and materials, that need to be replaced for the next customer

Load More Replies...The double K couple sound horrible but to intentionally put a bad tattoo on her is weird. She also could have seen that the tattoo was too small and not let the 'artist' finish it. And no change? Why is that, that is just weird. Although the double K couple are rude, the 'artist' does not seem to be a nice person either. I doubt if all of this really happened.
If I wait 2 months for my pre-booked tattoo appointment and turn up at 10 o'clock as agreed, ain't no one pushing in! If I go to a 'queue up and wait' tattoo parlour then I suppose it might happen!!! This story don't smell right!
This is so wrong and I hope not true. First - how do you even go in a tattoo shop without choosing an image beforehand? Second, don't you get an appointment - a 10 people queue? Cmon! Then - ruining someone's tattoo and marking them for life is absolutely unprofessional and you will not get any clients ever. Sounds fake or the worst tattoo artist ever. I imagine a tattoo shop on the beach or something drunk people visit like that movie in Bangkok with the face tattoo
The better way to handle this would be to insist they go to the back of the line and, if they didn't, call the cops and have them trespassed from the shop. It's not like they were in need of witnesses. It avoids nasty things like lawsuits. Plus, you can't tell me that there wasn't at least one person standing in line that wasn't videotaping the entire exchange.
Many tattoo shops discount days. The ones I've seen are either new shops trying to get their name out there.
Surely the customer was concious and could see what was being done? I don't believe they give anesthetic when doing tattoos.
maybe instead of tattooing them they should have politely told them to get in the line, cause i mean then they did nothing wrong
I love how the comments agree with the "assault" comment. That's bull s**t. THEY went IN a tattoo shop and DEMANDED to be next. They were given a choice and CHOSE a tattoo, then they get put in their place and they were assaulted? Give me a break. I'm so sick of the the entitlement of this generation. Look you little shits, no one owes you a damn thing. Not a tattoo, not a first place trophy, not money, not a job, nothing. Why don't you go to the back of the line and earn your place like everyone else???? (steps off soap box)
I know, all the things you pointed out are exactly what I was thinking. They asked for it, picked it out, watched as it was done, should have seen the no change sign and should've signed something agreeing to their services and policies. So tough s**t they didn't like the actual product agreed upon, that's their own damned problem. I also am sick of the rude and gimmee gimmee gimmee fsking attitudes of people too. When I ws a kid and growing up you didn't like something or someone you sucked it up or you stayed away from said situation. Sick of how kids are in today's society. My kids aren't like that thank effing god. One person commented that not one person had a camera phone w/ 10 people queued in line waiting , now I agree that doesn't sound right either and the story is poorly written and not very well investigated at all.
Load More Replies...For those asking about the $13 tattoo being bad? Its a friday 13th kinda tradition for anyone doing body mods. I did all of my piercings for £13 not because they are any lesser quality than normal, its just a "sale" to get people in your studio and get good publicity. You shouldnt be a twat to your tattooist.....simple. Tattooists are humans too, so why cant they be a twat right back!! A consent form would have been signed before hand as this is law. Tough lesson to learn that you cant just treat people like s**t and get away with it!
I have several tattoos that cost £13 and £31 respectively. They are extremly good quality and it's really really not unusual. Lots of tattoo parlours sell tattoos (usually from a predetermined set) for these prices on friday the 13th. It's a thing. Is what he did okay? Absolutely not. But the amount of comments that are people saying "only £13/£31, oh it must be garbage" really should do their research.
Nope…lost me believing this was real when he said the artist pulled out a single flash sheet and asked what she wanted. As if the only tattoos available were on that ONE sheet.
Meh, a story about jerks and thieves. Stealing from jerks is still stealing, should have simply enforced the line or denied service.
I think it's funny that this possibly fake story of people being jerks to each other has comments that are down on it, but mostly of the "yeah I'm not buying the story" type instead the outright rage when a week or so ago a (probably b.s) feel-good story was posted by someone from 4Chan (who may or may not have been a Conservative) and the whole thread was people absolutely losing their s**t even though the story itself was damn near a happy tear jerker. *sigh*
$13 or even $31 is absurdly low for ANY tattoo. Any respectable artist/shop charges WAY more than that for even a basic tattoo!
She chose the tattoo she was given, she wasn't assaulted. If she didn't ask the price beforehand, that's her fault. If she or her boyfriend didn't watch as the tattoo was applied, that is also her fault.
I've seen tat shops have cheap promos. There's a limited range of stock flash art that you have to choose from and the lines out the door are crazy. Also, remember that these folks probably deal with entitled a******s ALL. THE. TIME. Sometimes, people just kinda snap and do things that while not necessarily technically criminal (signed consent, and did get her tat, but oops. I thought you wanted a small piece!) can be pretty messed up. Artist can be just as human as the rest of us and sometimes humans do dumb things out of spite.
Good for this artist! All signs are posted, No Change, price of picked tattoo...etc. I'm sure they also had to sign consent forms as well. So all you ppl saying this is wrong and illegal, you are wrong. There's consequence when you think you're entitled to cut in line before everyone else. Unless you have VIP tickets to a show or have scheduled an appointment with the artist, which is better for both the artist and one getting the tattoo.
