There are many different types of sushi out there, from Chirashizushi and Nigirizushi to Oshizushi and Inarizushi. But there’s never been a donut sushi. Not until now that is!
The idea was pioneered by Sam, a vegan food creatrix who recently posted pictures of her culinary creations for her 142k followers on Instagram (she also made the awesome galaxy donuts we featured recently). She made them by greasing a donut mould with coconut oil and adding cooled sushi rice before decorating the donut with black sesame, ginger, wasabi, cashew mayo and advocado. Still, you can use whatever ingredients you want. The only limit is your imagination! And your appetite. Obviously.
Take a look at the pictures below to see these delicious works of art for yourself. We didn’t know that the world needed sushi donuts, but now we’ve seen them, we’re not quite sure how we’ve lived for so long without them.

It does unless that's avocado, sometimes I can't tell the difference.. That ended me up in Bad places
Load More Replies...This is not only defeating the concept of sushi but also wouldn't taste that great with some bites being only rice and sesame. Pure art project, but it looks interesting for sure.
I'd imagine they chef would expect you to eat it in one giant bite the same you do with a slice of a sushi roll. Hard to be ladylike eating sushi
Load More Replies...its one of those BS the crazy foodie instagram nuts came up with. Insulting to the art form of sushi and my culture. TYVM
I am a European, but doesn't sushi mean rice [or the rice mixture]? It's it a misconception that it means the fish/raw aspect as sushi does not always have to contain fish, or raw filling for that matter.
If you ask me - that's no sushi. Sorry to spoil the fun, but some cultural food concepts cannot be changed. These are probably tasty and surely they look interesting. But these cannot share the name of "sushi" for the simple reason they have no raw (sea) meat, which is the main component.
You are incorrect. Have you never had tomago at a sushi bar? It contains no seafood; it is made with a grilled omelet. Making good tomago is considered by sushi chefs to be a test of the sushi-maker's skills. Before you castigate others about their lack of cultural knowledge, you might want to check your facts. Further, you might note that sushi chefs are a creative bunch. They are always inventing new styles and food combinations.
