I Combine Reality, Memory And Dreams To Create Provoking Portraits

I’m Rob Woodcox, 24, based out of beautiful Portland, Oregon. I’m a vagabond spirit and love creating vivid stories sewn by the threads of reality, memory, and dream-like surrealism. Each photo idea is a declaration of my experience and strives to tell a meaningful story to each person that views it. Beyond telling a story, it is principal that my photography art contains a purpose to further positive change in humanity.

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege to raise awareness for the foster care system, creating augmented reality images of the challenges and triumphs of foster children. My friends and I were able to help fund a new camp for these kids through the creation and promotion of my portrait photography. As I continue to create, I am passionate about furthering awareness of people in need and would love to collaborate with other creators to make a positive difference in the world!

Life is an incredible journey, one filled with endless beauty and magic if we open our eyes to it. I hope my photo manipulations opens your eyes to the freedom and strength within yourself.

All In Our Boxes

Each day, we see a fraction of a glimpse of the beauty present on Earth. Everything is as we see it and yet changing all the time. Surfaces are a portal to what lies beneath, and objects have alternate functions, each character near or far has various roles we may never see.

The revolving character of this planet is conducive to change by nature, it’s the way of the world, and simultaneously the way of the mind. Take for instance a memory; at first, you’ve just experienced your birthday, so the cake and the faces are clear, but fast forward 5, 10, 15 years, and the faces suddenly seem less vivid; the cake may be purple with fireworks now, yet other details have faded away.

That idea of permuting memory seems to be evident when applied to dreams, yet amplified to include segments from various stages of life. Our entire experience, whether recounted through memories, reality, or dreams, is constantly evolving.
