Badass Cat Proves He’s The True Owner Of This Supermarket In London
Cats go where they want and do what they want. In the case of one kitty in London, it means going to a supermarket. This cat was first spotted in November while parading around in Sainsbury’s in Brockley. Later on identified as Olly Oliver, this six-year-old had been removed from the premises by store security. But seeing how cats have no fear of laws of man or God (and they’re highly suspicious of this “physics” thing), he’s at it again.
So Oliver is stalking the shelves again and judging Londoners on their shopping. He’s quite famous among the locals, but Sainsbury’s management isn’t trying to capitalize off this free publicity. A store spokesperson said “He lives in the house next door and he’s in here every day, all the time. He’s not allowed to be here, the staff like him, but he is a health and safety risk.” I, for one, wish that more stores had regular cat visitors.

which is worse? The many rats and mice that Olly Oliver would not slay if banned from the store? or Olly Oliver? I vote OO is preventing disease and destruction!
No, he wouldn't even leave his bed, let alone the house
Load More Replies...health and safety risk? too politically correct. some of the shoppers probably pose more of a health and safety risk. (how many come in with colds?) let the moggie stay!
My orange cat followed me (unbeknownst) down the street and into a cafe. One of the staff says, "Does this cat belong to anyone?" and there he was, wandering beneath the tables checking everyone out. There was a sudden zap in my brain as i realized it was mine! "We can't have him here, he's a health risk." I glanced around at all the friendly gay men, each with their tiny dogs, in on their Sunday morning walk/social, sighed, and took him outside. I just don't get it.
He's a marmalade! He loves company. All marmalades do. You people should feel special as he's picked YOUR store to "protect" from rats, mice, even moths... Further, one can NOT negotiate with a cat. If he loves your store, that's where he will be. Feel blessed. Cats are very discriminatory. Since he's picked your store, that store must very special.
One of the large Tesco stores in the UK and local to my home often has small garden birds flying around inside, I would say that was more unhygienic because they poop anywhere and at anytime. Plus there's often a distinct 'dead mouse' smell in the store so I'd be all for a cat in a store
How can he be a health risk? If he is then his owner is at risk..its all nonsense. He will most certainly keep the rodents at bay with an expression like that...
risk to what?????? to steal our hearts? he's already done that :) ...i'd come to this shop just for Olly
With what we bring in on our shoes, well, the fastidiousness of a cat puts cats above our own levels of cleanliness.
Health and safety risk? Not so....I would rather shop at a grocery store with a feline presence (or canine for that matter) than a grocery store with uptight management. The cat is no more of a risk than many of the people skulking around the shelves.
Cat's cleaner than most of the brats you let into the store...health and safety my butt.
I guess you have a cat now...might as well pay him a salary and make him a team member...with proper training he won't be a health risk. XD
I hate to be Dolly Downer here, but while this is an adorable story about a very determined cat, the fact is, he does have a home. Maybe the owners should consider keeping him IN his home. It is extremely dangerous for pets to wander outside on their own. Along with the risk of cars, fights with other animals, and - in Olly's case anyway - getting locked in somewhere they can't get out of... there's the fleas, parasites, diseases, injuries that get infected, etc. People - if you love your animals, then keep them inside unless they are on a leash!!
Awww - our store needs a cat. We have quite a few birds in it that come in from outside.
My local tesco also has a cat. She's called Sadie and would wander back in after being chased out. She can usually be found by the cat food.
Checking out peoples Puurchases, could give them paws for thought.

Shop Owners can turn the whole cat scene into a crowd attraction rather than blaming the cat... No one can blame the cats for living their lives to the fullest!
A health risk? Everything is wrapped. One of my cats puts a paw in my food, but I don't mind.
