This Man Spent 6 Years Crocheting a Super Mario Bros Map Blanket
Super Mario 3 fan Kjetil Nordin spent 800 hours over six years to make a perfect crocheted copy of the game’s first map. The 31-year-old Norwegian used 100 balls of yarn, and the impressive crochet blanket measures 2.2 by 1.8 meters (7’2”x5’10”). Kjetil even redid a massive section when he realized he had used an imperfect color for a certain portion of the Super Mario world map.
The yarn “was almost purple and very ugly, so I had to undo all of the crochet patterns. That took an extra week,” Kjetil told NRK. As for future crochet projects, “I can’t rush it. I’ll have a break, and think for a while,” he said.
Trolls who say that Kjetil could have better spent his time are unaware of his other accomplishments and cool hobbies. During those six years, he won the Norwegian Sky Diving team championship two times, earned two university degrees, started a career, and even made smaller crochet figures for his family. The Super Mario game map “hasn’t taken all of my time. You get a bit sick of such long-lasting projects.”

I am humbled by this!!! It's perfect and beautiful. What an amazing thing!
Gosh and I thought the year it takes for some of my cross stitches felt like forever. Great work and a cute guy - if not already taken I'll put my hand up ;)
I just finished an infinity scarf for my section chief who is currently recovering from surgery to get back what breast cancer stole. Is that all single crochet?
Seriously looks like all sc. I might actually stop complaining about my yearlong afghan... it's ONE colour.
