40 Funny And Wholesome Posts About Customer Behavior Shared In This Online Group Dedicated To Subway (New Pics)
Not all heroes wear capes, and no one exemplifies this more than the brave souls at your local fast-food joint. The job itself is basically a blessing and a curse where employees try to navigate the complex world of customer service with a cheerful smile. There are the long hours, low pay, and lazy management that make it a tough and thankless experience. But at the same time, wholesome colleagues and side-splitting "special instructions" customers add to their orders work as the perfect mood booster workers didn't know they needed.
There’s not a dull day in the life of a fast-food worker, and people who proudly wear their green and yellow t-shirts know this from personal experience. We’re talking about Subway employees who work hard to provide you with a portion of the good stuff and should get the respect they most definitely deserve.
So today, we’re diving deep into the aspects of a sandwich artist's life, the good and the bad, courtesy of the 'Subway' subreddit. Although the community seems to be still growing, it provides a safe space for people to talk, share, love (and hate!) everything to do with the sandwich palace. We've gathered some of the best posts from the group, so continue scrolling to check them all out! Be sure to upvote your favorites and let us know what you think in the comments.
Psst! For more goodness from the 'Subway' subreddit, look no further than Bored Panda's earlier piece on this feature right here.

Yet for all your loyalty and hard work, your employer still thinks you're expendable.
As the moderators state in the community description, the 'Subway' online group is dedicated to customers and employees of Subway, the sandwich chain. "Looking to talk about subway trains?" they ask, "You probably want r/subways", illustrating just how often Redditors mix the two forums together.
With over 26k members aka sandwich artists following the community, the group seems to be still growing. However, it already has some clear guidelines for fellow Subway enthusiasts to consider before sharing something with others. For example, posts must be strictly Subway-related, and spam is not tolerated. Redditors should also avoid revealing identifiable information, "that includes posting addresses, store numbers, or telephone numbers."
Thankfully, Subway-related memes are allowed — as long as they follow other rules. "Minimal effort, spam, and off-topic memes may be removed," the mods added.

For our earlier piece on strange fast food orders that drive employees mad, we reached out to the team looking after the subreddit. One moderator, who preferred to stay anonymous, was more than happy to share their thoughts about the group.
Unfortunately, the origin of the group seems to remain a mystery. When we asked about the initial inspiration for the sub, the moderator explained that they were not yet around at that time. However, one person from their team has been present since the beginning, but he was not the original creator, who left the subreddit years ago.

The moderator told Bored Panda that the community is decently active, "with customers asking opinions on sandwiches, or employees talking about their experiences." It offers a perfect space for workers to vent their frustrations, seek advice, and find comfort from fellow employees about the difficult situations they face daily.
"When employees talk about their grievances, other employees will chime in with their own, or ways to help! Employees in the sub, past and present, are generally pretty supportive of other employees," they added.

Ask any food service employee, and you’ll know that some customers have a way of annoying the people who serve them to the max. Specific actions and behaviors commonly associated with patrons that sandwich artists absolutely despise range anywhere from not knowing what they want beforehand to texting on their phones while ordering and touching the glass every single day.
And guessing from the abundance of posts in the community, weird orders customers make are also at the top of the list. They are quite a common category in the group, but thankfully, they often serve as a perfect source of entertainment. Or, as the mod told us, "It’s fun to see what people get requested, and others to share theirs in the comments!"

But the group also gives a stage for the clients to voice their opinions as well. "The main thing I see from customers in the sub are complaints about prices (which we all agree are kind of getting ridiculous nowadays), or the never-ending app glitches charging $99+ for cheese or some other item," they said.

Don't disrespect people who handle your food. And walking in at closing time, making tired workers stay back for you, is disrespectful.
The displayed closing time is there for the customers, the tired workers should have allocated time AFTER the closing time to do cleaning or whatever they need to do.
Load More Replies...In Highschool, I worked at a diner, this huge (withholding name of religion) family came in at 7:59pm every Sunday. At least 15 people, they were very aware we closed at 8 pm on Sundays. The entire staff would, take the orders, serve the drinks, and cook the food, as a group. And serve it. Most of us off the clock, but together. And for the work we do, our boss would buy us pizza, or whatever. Because said nasty people, who did this every week? Refused to tip, argued everything on the receipt, and didn't want to pay service tax. We felt they needed more religion.
The should be a standard information for all places where food is served that after a certain time no more food will be served, the people who work there have more then enough to do without the a$$holes that think they are entitled to food at the last minute. The same with shopping on a Sunday, just why? There are so many hours in the rest of the week you can go shopping, just give the people that work retail a day off, they more then deserve it. As soon as being open on a Sunday doesn't pay off anymore, there will be a week deserved day of for those that work so hard to keep the costumers happy... But that's just mho ;)
So many people are like, "I don't care if I'm there at 11:59 and you close at midnight. I should still get the same service." And it's like...you're right but you're a jerk. You're a total jerk and you have clearly never worked in the service industry.
Don’t most places just close doors/new orders at a certain time while the wind down begins? We always did but that was a college cafeteria.
It’s the same at restaurants. People walking in 10 minutes before closing time ordering 4 steaks well done 🤔🤔
I think everyone should watch the movie waiting one in their life to see what servers go through and what the consequences can be.
In my country (Hungary), as cashiers are wired into some online system, you can't do this in stores, because if they let you pay your stuff even a minute after the official closing time, the store will be fined. So in this particular situation if you can't pay your order in one minute, there is nothing the employees could do.
If I’m going to any type of restaurant and it’s within 20 minutes to close I will turn around and leave bc it sucks while you’re trying to do your closing routine and then 6 people walk in.
I always just said we were closed and gave the person next to me a wtf for not locking the door, also used to shut off the open sign 15 min before closing #DontGetPaidEnough
If you come in 1 minute before closing time, good for you for making it. But you also should be polite get what you came for and leave as quickly as possible, because when closing time hits you should be finishing up your transaction and leaving because the store is closed.
Would you like to stay late at your job because some a*s hat came in one minute before you were going to leave?
Not just food. On behalf of literally every shop worker, f#ck you if you come in less then 5 minutes to closing, knowing you will take more then 5 minutes.
Call me crazy, but if a shop says it's open until x, then you should be serving customers until x.
Main reason can't work retail or businesses like this. No ins 30 minutes before closing, I may not want to go home, but do want to go
Maybe it's a matter of different cultures too? Like in Germany it's not uncommon for a restaurant to be open till late for guests to stick around and drink, while the it''s called out as "last kitchen order! " at maybe 10p.m./11pm for any guest present and "kitchen is closed, only drinks" for anyone arriving later...
No... Not perfect timing. Not perfect timing at all, you dingus.
I've been guilty of this depending on my work schedule. Yes I know it's annoying to anyone working the closing shift....BUT, I've always been extra nice, friendly and patient. Leaving a generous tip in this situation is mandatory, in my book.
Welcome to modern day civilian careless society! Was it a woman or a girl? :-)
Hang on a minute. You are paid to do a job between certain hours, as am I. I don't stop work on the dot if a customer calls at the last minute. There may be very good reasons someone comes in at the last minute, such as I had to stay late at work to help someone in need , I missed my lunch as I was so busy, I am so hungry, if I don't eat I'll get sick. Get your boss to implement a 'last orders' proviso to the closing time. Don't blame me for asking you to do your job.
Your employer takes advantage of you and you're bitter about it so you take it out on underpaid food service workers. Great job, Shelley.
Load More Replies...It's the same for every industry I've worked at or patronized - the listed "closing" time is when you stop letting new customers in. Otherwise why have it? When I worked in retail in HS we "closed" at 11pm, and made an announcement around 11:20pm advising customers that anybody not in line ready to check out in ten minutes may have to return tomorrow to complete their purchases. When you check with many restaurants about hours, they'll usually say something like, "we're open until 11, but the kitchen closes at 10/10:30." How crazy and irritating would it be to have an emergency and rush to a pharmacy, mechanic, grocery store, whatever, and arrive five minutes before "closing" and be told to come back tomorrow?!
On the other hand there are many places that close an hour early. So yeah, stick with the schedule.
this is way they should be closing time is 10pm last order is 9:45 or whatever.
The moderator also revealed that customers often criticize the fast-food restaurant chain, and they do not hold back. "Besides complaints about the app glitch posts, it would be customers blaming us for pricing, even though it is not the employees' fault. There have been a few cases of some customers harassing others in comments as well."

How I Feel After My Shifts
But even though patrons complain about the food or the quality of the service, they still return to their favorite joints over and over again. It’s hard to argue with the fact that fast food is delicious, convenient, and comforting. This is probably the reason why 36% of American adults consume a portion on any given day.
So we hope that this post will remind you that working in Subway can be one heck of a ride, and the people who spend their time and effort to fulfill your wishes should get the respect they deserve. Continue scrolling through this list, let us know what you think in the comments, and the next time you step foot into the palace, remember to be kind and greet your hard-working sandwich artist with a smile.

What I Came In To At Work Today... I Open The Store
I came to work and saw this, cleaned out everything as best I could while working. When my co-worker came in and I asked him to finish the dishes while I rang up customers, he went back to the backroom, came out after a few saying they were done. I finished up and went home from the graveyard shift and before the manager came in. She called and asked who did the dishes. I said my coworker finished them. She said "You do them from now on...he just rinsed them and put them away. I found tuna salad all in the scooper still." I said "Make him do it properly then...why am I getting in trouble for his crappy work ethic."

I want regular mayo. They said they didn’t have regular mayo. I then pointed to the sign, where in print, it listed mayo THEN light mayo. Nah, that's too much money and work. They just steal everything from Reddit anymore. It’s such a shame as this site used to write a lot of their own quirky content and feature a lot of artwork. Now I feel like it is trying to mimic Buzzfeed. Don’t even get me started on the needless censorship on this site…

I have much respect for subway workers, even more so after looking at this post.
I must not have read the title carefully enough because it took me until like #20 on the list to realize these were ALL about Subway! 🙈
I love Subway. These sandwiches looks so generous! In my Country, you get two veggies only and if you have lettuce, it's like 3 or 4 shreds. And if you order through the delivery apps, they never add cheese. EVER. If you select it, if you ask for extra, if you leave a comment begging for it, you will 100% get zero cheese. All my local Subways are like this.
Technically you are only supposed to get so much per 6 inch. Like 2 tomatoes. I think 4 olives. It is not supposed to be just handfuls. It has been almost 27 years so I do not remember exactly. All I know is in am having subway for lunch.
Load More Replies...I miss when Subway used to buy their bread from local bakeries, yes, it was only white, Italian then. The bread used to be so delicious and each store's bread would be slightly different. I really don't miss the original "V cut" to cut the bread, the "hinge cut" is a vast improvement.
I worked at Subway in high school and college. These bring back memories, good and bad. The best and worst managers I've ever had. Some bad customers, all better than the worst McDonald's customers I experienced. Some very strange sandwiches, all from very apologetic customers. "I know it sounds gross. I'm so sorry." We really don't care if you want your tuna microwaved or if your kid will only eat mayo and a sh*t ton of parmaseon cheese on their sandwich. It's amusing to us and we just want happy customers, not throwing food at us. If we really like you, we may slip a broken cookie in your bag.
I was just wondering where the good subways are located. We have two in the area I live and the food is c**p. We didn't complain. We just don't go to either anymore.
I have never been to that shop and I don't think that's gonna change. Its way too expensive and I rather support small businesses than big franchises. Maybe I'm spoiled because in Germany every small bakery sells fresh made bread-buns with various toppings and every butcher shop sells fresh cut meat with bread-buns also.
As an American living in Asia, you are definitely lucky. My home town had one family owned place that had "grinders", just ONE type of sandwich. They were good but not many options
