Not everyone is born a driver, but the majority of the population just suck it up and learn to drive whether the hard or the easy way. But in reality, a driver’s license doesn’t protect you from road rage, dangerous situations, or reckless behaviors that happen way too often.
So this list from Bored Panda serves as a crucial reminder to keep our eyes on the road for any bizarre, unexpected, and plain dumb sightings. Like this crazy person who drives cross-legged or this driver who holds a plate with a fork in what seems to be a fancy rendezvous dinner while driving.

The national survey known as the 2021 Travelers Risk Index on distracted driving showed some illuminating findings on safety on the roads in the US. Luckily, one in four drivers thinks that roads are safer today than they were before the pandemic. However, alarmingly, a growing number of respondents reported using their mobile devices in unsafe ways while driving, including:
- Texting or emailing (26%, up from 19% pre-pandemic).
- Checking social media (20%, up from 13% pre-pandemic).
- Taking videos and pictures (19%, up from 10% pre-pandemic).
- Shopping online (17%, up from 8% pre-pandemic).

About 10 years ago I was driving down I-75 in McKinney Tx and saw a guy driving in a truck with a dog in the back. He was speeding in and out of traffic and like the idiot he was, tried to pass into another lane and almost hit a car, so he over corrected back into his lane and flung the dog out of the back of his truck and didn't even realize he had done so. Three of us stopped and blocked a lane of traffic while waiting on animal control and the police. Dog lived but had a broken pelvis, shattered back leg, and major road rash. A local rescue ended up taking him in.
I'm in tears. Poor dog! Hope it got a better owner after.

We have two dogs that go just about everywhere with us. They hardly ever ride in the back of our truck and if they do, they are tied with a rope that only allows them to the edge of the side walls. For that matter, they are also tied when riding in the back seat of our SUV. Years ago, we had a VW van. My dog, Cindy, was riding in the very back luggage compartment when I had to come to a quick stop when the school bus appeared around the bend. Cindy came flyinf over the two seat backs only to land on the floor of the very front. I pulled off the road and checked her over - no apparent injuries. Then I tried to get her to jump into the back seat. She absolutely refused. I had to take her out and put her in via the back seat door. My husband regged a hook and fastener for her leash in the back seat so nothing of that sort would happen. Cindy has crossed the Rainbow Bridge due to old age, and we have 2 smaller pups now. We also have hooks and fasteners in the back of our SUV.

20 years ago, I stopped ALL Traffic when a Dog fell out of a ute. He was not tied to any post, Dog lived. Driver Eventually came back for him, by then the police had arrived.

This topic proves again what I've been saying for years now: include a psychological evaluation and an IQ test in the entire process of getting a drivers license. Just too many fools get a license to endanger the public with a 2 ton killing machine.
I hate it to drive a car. Even if everyone drives careful, sober and prudent and all cars are maintained very well, suddenly out of nowhere 'POOF' there is a wasp in your or the car behind you frightening the driver. Or a deer on the street, or or or.. From one second to the next, your life can change completely or just simply stop. It's naive, but I just hate it!
I was taught to drive 'defensively' and it's saved me from a few crashes I'm sure. It basically means you assume every other car on the road doesn't know it's road rules. So if they are indicating, don't go out in front of them until you see them actually turning. Same for people who are meant to give way to you: be prepared for them to come out in front of you anyway. I even used this on my full licence test, on a roundabout and a car pulled out onto the roundabout as I approached it. I was able to stop in time, but the guy next to me testing me went white and shouted out the window at the woman :D I think he was pleased with my driving after that seeing as I avoided a huge risk

I have epilepsy and don't drive, but there are many people with active seizures who do. Such idiots who aren't drunk, aren't doing dumb things with their cars, just knowingly doing something that could cost people their lives.
