I was brainwashed as a child to fear Russia and China because they were "dirty Commies". That fear doesn't suddenly vanish overnight, I'm sorry to say. However, when they're right, they're right. The US government has brainwashed its youth into thinking we're number one, and that makes us stupidly dangerous. Now that the Educational Dept is being dismantled expect more of this arrogant ignorance.

It’s sad that the ignorant of the USA constantly repeat the ‘number 1’ anthem, when a simple google search will reveal that it lags behind most countries in most of the important metrics, including health care, education and workers rights. It has money (ranks about tenth in the world) and possibly the strongest military- in most other respects it barely scrapes above ‘third world’ status. Perhaps if they spent even a small fraction of the money they use for arms on education and healthcare, they wouldn’t be in such a dire situation.

My sister was homeless for about 6 months. (She was ashamed of it and didn’t tell us or we would have helped). She was lucky enough to be employed and have a car - slept in her car and saved enough money to get back into an apartment, but when she talks about the experience, it sounds miserable. She was judged by a lot of people who were happier to scoff at and ridicule her rather than help her out. She told me she was offered more help the one time she accidentally walked into a road sign and chipped her tooth because she was on her phone and not paying attention than when she was actually, literally freezing cold and starving. Some humans have it so, so backwards.

I can’t believe people think like this.

It would be cheaper and 100% more effective to hous, feed, train, and give them jobs. Homelessness isn't a choice for most people it's something that happens when the system fails to protect and grow the working class. Food and housing need to be affordable and pay needs to be fair.
