9 Strangers Get Turned Into What They’ve Always Wanted To Be But Never Had The Courage
The team of photographer Holly Falconer and stylist Kylie Griffiths is like a wishing well, in a sense that with their photo project, they have realized the dreams of a bunch of strangers and transformed them into someone they always wanted to be.
“For this shoot, we asked a load of people on the internet what they’ve always wanted to be. Then we told them to come to our office so we could turn them into that – be it a goth, a trekkie or a human doll,” the creators told Vice. “Finally, we had a walk around and asked strangers whether our makeover recipients looked better before or after.”

“Hi, I’m Helen, and today I’m being made into a goth. I’m doing this because I’ve always wanted to rebel and see what it’s like to look different in public. Goths are normal people, too. Also, I want to be able to wear outrageous makeup for a day.”
What did random passers-by think of the transformation?
John, 24: She looks cool, like the hippie mother who’d make peppermint tea and let you and your mates smoke weed. I like the makeover too, though – she’s expressing her inner anger.
Ellie, 26: She can pull off goth really well.
Sarah, 31: That is terrifying.

“My name is Elouise, I’m 22 and I’m being tattooed all over. I’m doing this because I’ve always wanted loads of tattoos and once, when I was younger, I got a tattoo of Buddha on the back of my neck and it looks like a steaming poo, so I decided not to get another tattoo after that.”
What did random passers-by think of the transformation?
John, 34: Tattoos – yeah, I love that. She’s expressing herself. I offer spiritual consultancy – I work with energy – and I think that’s important.
Julienne, 26: I love this one – she looks like an East London lesbian.

Fabien, 26: I live in East London and I think people with a special look are better than normal people, so I’ll go for Star Trek.
Julia, 23: The post-makeover is too old school to be true. I like him as he normally is.

“I’m Iris, I’m 27 and I’m being turned into a human doll. I always wanted to be a doll when I was younger. I wanted to live in a big pink doll house and dress like a doll, so I’m here to have my dreams made true!”

Alex, 22: I don’t know what that is but I’m not liking the color scheme. She looks like a rainbow.

“My name is Melanie and I’m 32. I’m being turned from a woman into a man. I’m doing this because I feel like men represent power and strength, and I’d really like women to feel powerful and strong, which is why I’m becoming a man for a day.”

Stuart, 22: No way. What! You’re joking! That’s a chick? She could be a sick actor playing both a guy and a girl.
Paula, 25: Oh my god, I love both. In real life is she a woman or a man?

Am I the only one, who thinks, that Helen looks little bit like Penguin from Burtons Batman? She is really nice woman and Goth make-up can be great, but her make-up artist messed it up... :-(
These people need to get into cosplay. I used to think it was just a thing that socially awkward people do at comic con, but then my friend got into it and I was kind of jealous. So then I got into it. Turns out it's for socially awkward AND totally cool AND all the in between people! The thing is, just because we grow up, doesn't mean dressing up stops being kind of fun. Comic Con is just an excuse for adults to dress up outside of Halloween. I joined a charity group so I could have even more excuses to dress up, and my family doesn't think I'm because it's for charity lol
I think its unfortunate that people felt the need to put down the men for their choices. I think that they all look great because they are choosing to do something different than "normal." Each of them chose something they would not be typically associated with. Why would people put them down?
Because some people are uptight and judgemental like that. They don't see beyond their white picket fence. They are scared of something new, something different. They probably don't even dream beyond conventional things. Which would be okay should they not bully others for their choices.

I would love to see more of these! I am absolutely convinced that one should feel well in his/her own skin and follow and pursue her/his dreams no matter what. Express yourself and feel happy! Melanie : She definitely pulls off the male look, in that she could probably pass me on the street like that and I wouldn't notice anything out of place. Although, if her aim is to be strong/powerful, I think she looks more of both in the pre-change photograph, since she exudes confidence there that she lacks in the post-change photo. As far as Elouise goes, realistically she looks good in both photos, but I think I prefer the pre-change photo - there's just a warmer, more natural feel to it.

I'd love a boho chic ("luxury hippie") makeover - long, flowing, beautifully patterned garments; lots of dangling "ethnic" (yes, I know it's a stupid word for it) jewelry; sandals; wide-brimmed, floppy hat... That, or "lady at the court of Louis XVI". Or "Indian bride" - rich colours, facial jewelry, henna-painted hands/feet... Anything lavish and/or exotic, really... But the sharp business woman style would be fun, too. Argh, there are so many awesome looks!

I find it kind of sad that lots of people don't dare to be or do whatever the hell they want because of the way people will look at them. As far as what we are/do is not dangerous for us or the others, as far as it's no against the law or mean, why should we bother the other's opinion? The fact that we need to look professionnel where we work (if Louise want to be teacher, tatooing her face could be tricky, but there are jobs where t's not a problem) is important, but outside that, people should feel free to express themselves.
