Have you ever heard someone say that their life is “like a movie” because of all the unbelievable things happening to them? Movies are indeed as good as their ability to leave a viewer shocked, touched or in consideration. And of course, I guess most of us have that friend or we are that friend that loves to be a “movie critic”, pointing out every little detail that is wrong in the movie. Characters going straight into a deadly trap, stopping their car in the woods in the middle of the night, then running like Usain Bolt himself from death, and of course, managing to escape it. Sometimes the movie plot is so involving that we might not notice some little details that make the movie scenario less relatable to real life.

Having this in mind, Reddit users shared their Shower Thoughts on some strange movie plot choices that actually make sense in real life. From Bruce Almighty changing the way we spell B-E-A-UTIFUL to kids sent to die in a fight in The Hunger Games, showing that this was actually a pretty common practice throughout our history.

The success of the series of books and movies about the magical world is seen to this day. This is not mentioned in movies, but is explained in the books. JK Rowling addresses the creating food issue in the Deathly Hallows book. I would need to look it up for accuracy, but when Harry and Hermione are alone in the woods starving after Ron left, Rowling made it very clear that wizards and witches cannot create food using magic. They can use magic to manipulate food such as cooking and cleaning, but she makes it very clear that there is no spell or magical device that can create food from nothing. She also explains why the food appears so quickly in such large quantities and is cleaned immediately in Goblet of Fire book. It is the elves making, delivering, and clearing the food. It's explained the work makes them happy. Hermione is of course horrified by this and starts the Society for Promotion of Elfish Welfare (SPEW). It is a shame they could not fit that into the movie. So it is not that they can end world hunger choose not to, they just can't create food with magic.

It is true that they cannot create food from nothing, but... "Gamps Law is a thing in the books, meaning food is able to be transported (as in, food that appears on the plates in the great hall) however... " Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, good food cannot be "made from thin air", but can be multiplied if one already has some food to multiply, it can be enlarged or the food " so they could technically give more food into the world by multiplying what food already exists.

In the kitchens, which are directly below the great hall, there are tables that are the same as the house/staff tables above. So I imagine the elves simply load the lower tables, and swap them with the ones above, and again for desserts, clearing tables etc (they can apparate and do other magic that wizards cannot do within Hogwarts walls, so it is likely how they do it, because I can't imagine why else they would have a second identical set of tables in the kitchen? I could still be wrong tho)

According to the laws of magic that Rowling wrote about, it's not that simple. You cannot magic food out of thin air, as that is impossible. It already has to exist from someplace else. So for example, all the food you see in the Great Hall scenes for meals got there because the House Elves down in the school kitchen had cooked food and then they just magically transferred them to the Great Hall for all the students and staff to eat.

They really didn't multiply food. When you see the food appear on the tables, it's because it was prepared in underground kitchens by elves. This was actually explained in the Goblet of Fire book when Hermoine created SPEW, the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare. She was attempting to free the elves and get them the rights and pay they deserved.
