Encountering a celebrity in a coffee shop, in an airport or at the beach is kind of a strange interaction because you recognize the famous person and actually know quite a bit about their lives and careers but they have no idea who you are.

But the fact that they don’t know you and still agree to talk to you, to take photos or sign an autograph makes the meet even more special. Of course, not all celebrity encounters are that wholesome and Bored Panda has a couple of articles about famous people being rude or disappointing in real life that you can find here and here.

This time we are looking at people’s experiences of encountering celebs that were really random and quite strange, leaving the fans either confused or fascinated by the weird behavior.

More info: Twitter

The thread was started by Twitter user chase. who has over 80k people following his account wanting to hear what he has to say. He shares random thoughts, opinions on pop culture and his photos. His bio says “idk what I’m doing,” which probably resonates with a lot of people who thought they would have everything figured out when they grew up.

He decided to ask his followers what were their strangest interactions with celebrities either in real life or online and received quite a few interesting stories.

The Twitter user also had his own story and remembering it was actually what made him want to know other people’s experiences. Apparently, his friend’s classmate met Lorde once after she released her first album.

The friend met the singer at a coffee shop and he noticed that the girl’s purse was full of ring pops. Also, she was not willing to take pictures at that time because she was on a “private friendly vacation.”

But don’t you find it weird how we as humans tend to fixate on someone we don’t know and spend time and even money on this one-sided relationship? Well, you don’t need to find it weird, because it is actually quite natural that humans will always pay more attention to people at the top.

Psychologist James Houran goes as far as to say that celebrities act as a drug: “They're around us everywhere. They're an easy fix." Celebrities know that, so they give interviews, go to fan meets and create social media accounts to make themselves look more approachable.

You guys. This isn't a sad story. Robin Wright is Jewish. Not everyone celebrates Christmas. 🤦‍♀️

While most people have a healthy admiration towards celebrities, some people might develop what's known as the "borderline pathological" stage. That is when they start to think that they have a personal relationship with the celebrity when they actually don’t.

The phenomenon of being highly involved in celebrities’ lives has been named celebrity worship syndrome in popular culture, wrongly interpreting the acronym CWS, which referred to the Celebrity Worship Scale. However, some behaviors do fall under the category of a syndrome, like being willing to commit crimes on behalf of a person or spending crazy amounts of money for common things a celebrity touched.

The right way. If someone happens to be famous, doesn't mean you should treat them any different. Give them an opportunity to just be without someone going for selfies and fawning over them when they're not working

Did you speed up gradually until everybody realized it had turned into a race?

Before she was famous she was a bit of a groupie for a South London band called The Ludes - I think she dated one or more of them at various points and was at every single gig they played. She was so annoying and took over the whole dance floor flailing about drunkenly and falling over. At one point I 'accidentally' stomped on her foot with my DMs - and she finally took the hint and stopped hogging the dance floor. I found her so annoying - and I was even more annoyed when she became successful and famous. Yes. I know I'm a petty b***h but I have some really nice qualities too, even if they're deeply hidden.

Got lost in Palos Verdes, (CA) stopped for an ice cream in the middle of a little hidden cul de sac. Got to chatting with a tiny woman (Big hat/sun glasses - no biggy. it was hot) We talked about boots, and ice cream. People waiting were just staring. As I left the shop I realized I'd been chatting with Michelle Pfeiffer. LOL

I'm very confused what this means. Could someone shorten it explain it better for me?

I went to High school with Lindsay Lohan. Iv never seen mean girls, but I can tell you that movie must be based on her, because she was the meanest girl in High school. She stole, slapped people, and even got a restraining order against my friend because he tattled on her.
