Storage Company Charges Client For Something That Never Existed, So She Pretends Like It Does And Now They Have To Find It
Proving to a big company that they’ve made a mistake often feels like a Sisyphean task. Which is why so many of us don’t even bother and take the L. But not Reddit user pappagall0.
When a storage company attributed an extra item to her upon her return and demanded payment for it, she decided to embrace the absurd, play along, and make them look for the non-existent box.
It took a while before the whole ordeal ended, but now pappagall0 thinks the effort was worth it. So much so that she even told the subreddit ‘Malicious Compliance‘ about what happened. Here’s what she wrote.

We managed to get in touch with pappagall0 and she was kind enough to give us a bit more context.
“I chose the company because it provided cheap storage,” the Redditor told Bored Panda. “But that was balanced out with higher delivery costs.”
She explained that the company only lets you store items in boxes of their brand.
“I made an order for 4 cardboard boxes, but only received 3. That was the first time the company messed up because instead of paying for storing 4 boxes, I now paid for 7.”
“I was pretty exhausted dealing with them … Realistically, I just thought I would never see the money again because they were not responding to any of my emails, so I’m happy that they’re finally getting around to clearing the backlog since the Queen’s passing,” she said.
However, even though things kinda fell into place in the end, if pappagall0 could do it all again, she would take a different course of action.
“I am not proud at all of the way I handled [the situation], but not really ashamed, it’s just petty behavior that I hope I will never have to do again.”
This reminds me of the time (famous portable storage solution) told me I had never paid and sent my account to collections despite them cashing an e-check for the exact amount 2 months before collection calls started. They called me a liar over the phone. Like didn't even try to pretend. I said look at your transaction records around this day because that's when it cleared my bank. I have the records showing you got payment from my bank and the email receipt from you guys. The lady on the phone "none of that ever happened, quit lying and pay your bill"
I don't know why you got downvoted, but I upvoted you so now you're at 0 again. Have a good day!
There are some people here downvoting just for the hell of it. I often see threads where every single new comment is at -1
smh. They need to get a life.
I got down votes recently for being happy about a possible spoiler in a game and was told to leave the group if it was such a problem. I had to reread my post several times to make sure I didn't deserve the backlash. Some people just want to be mean! I'm glad you are nice and upvoted the comment :)
Some people just suck and are bullies. I don't get it why anybody would want to be so miserable they take it out on other people. Be a grown up and keep scrolling, right?
I also dealt with a semi-incompetent moving company, but solely to my advantage… They loaded and moved me from TX to WA. The move itself went OK. There was the typical broken dish and occasionally scratched piece of furniture, but nothing too outrageous. The cost back then was $4800. I wrote them a check. They didn’t cash it. I waited. Finally, I called them and asked them to please cash it. They insisted they did. My bank insisted they didn’t. I called a few more times. I even asked if they needed me to write another check. They insisted my account was marked as “paid in full.” The check was never cashed. 8 months later, I closed out that bank account (not trying to get by with anything… just switching to a local credit union). I figured… the moving company knows where I live if they ever want their money. So, I got moved from TX to WA for free.
That's awesome
Except for the fact they moved you to OK! Lol thats a little Oklahoma joke...
Love it! :)
When the company says you're paid in full don't argue with them. If you're not they'll let you know. But if they say you're good and never bother you again you're golden.
The best part is that you moved to WA!
We moved from TX to WA and mysteriously lost the set of professional grade kitchen knives. It’s a good thing I kept one knife out to take with us because I knew we’d need it in the temporary apartment. The worst part is we had so many boxes that I have no idea how it got lost. It might be in a box we haven’t seen the bottom of yet.
