Doctors Are Uniting In Begging People To Stay At Home (15 Pics)

As the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases globally is now a staggering 218,824, doctors are left short-handed. Hospitals now face a battle with time, where equipment, supplies, and trained staff members are depleting daily.
Without the medical practitioners, the battle would be lost right away. So it’s heartbreaking to see them crying over ignorant people who find the task of staying home too big to handle. Thus, frontline workers unite in a global plea begging you to stay home so they can keep doing their job.
Think about it—while you’re all rolled up in a shaggy blanket, eating chocolate chip cookies, binge-watching your fave series, you’re saving the lives of others. To understand the vital importance of staying home, Bored Panda talked to Dr. Leana Wen, a professor at George Washington University from the “Stay Home: Save Lives” campaign.

Emergency physician Leana Wen told Bored Panda that “we are currently facing the biggest public health crisis of our lifetimes. But we are not powerless against the virus: there are things we can do.” The most vital one is pretty simple: “If you can, stay home!”
Leana Wen is a member of the campaign Stay Home: Save Lives, which unites concerned healthcare professionals raising awareness on the necessity to stay home and let frontline workers do their jobs. “#StayHome means you’re helping save lives.”

Social distancing is the only way to slow the spread of this disease, and that means we’re all made responsible. “If we don’t change our behavior now, the disease will spread faster and our healthcare system will be overwhelmed.” Leana Wen warns that, as a result, “that would cause a lot more harm and a lot more deaths.”

It’s totally normal if it’s hard to cope with cabin fever. Baltimore’s former Health Commissioner suggests using creative ways to enjoy each other. “There are lots of activities, like reading a book you’ve been putting off, to FaceTiming and catching up with friends online.”
Most importantly, find your own routine and stick to it. “Don’t just stay in your sweats! Try exercising at home—pushups, jumping jacks, and yoga, for example.”

Please please listen! Please stay home if you can or at least take this serious! To many of us get sick over the smallest of issues but lots of us can't risk getting this
My elderly mom is at very high risk. She's self-quarantining. My husband has lymphoma. We're doing our best. So, yes, take it seriously ---- but also don't panic. That's causing a lot of problems, too (hoarding, price gouging, extreme isolation/depression, etc.) Peace.
Just been reading about a healthy gym-going 39 year old who is seriously ill in hospital with the virus - if it can be that severe for someone young and healthy than people REALLY need to take it more seriously for anyone who is elderly or immuno-compromised. In another story I read about a healthy young person who got the virus and then found out that they had Leukemia - people can have diseases and not know. Finally, today I watched a 5 year old girl on a video with her mother pleading for people to isolate as this little girl is just recovering from a serious cancer and has no immune system. This virus is dangerous to a LOT of people.
The life you save - by doing the right things NOW - may not be your own. You may save the life of a friend ( who did not tell you about their diabetes, or high blood pressure ).

I'd risk getting sick if it meant I could meet that nurse Ashley. Va va voom!
FFS.
This made me cry. I have emotional breakdown today. First since the breakdown. I cry on and off the whole day. I am so overwhelmed with it all. Everybody talks only about that. There are no other topics anymore. I live in Poland. We don't have many cases. Around 325. Confirmed. How many not tested? Who knows that. People are so terrifingly irresponsible. Every day I see large groups of people in the park I live next to. Today I read that people gather and make barbecues. Mostly teenagers since schools are closed. They take their life for granted. They say "it's just a flu". The don't understand... It's not about them. We don't want to have the same situation as in Italy. I have so much respect for the medical care workers all over the world. You are all real heroes! Thank you so much!!!
I totally hear you. It's ok to feel overwhelmed and scared and sad sometimes. You are not alone. A virtual hug from🇯🇵
It's OK to not be OK. In New Zealand we say Kia Kaha- stay strong. Kia Kaha Ola x
It was emotionaly intense day for me too.
I would call us heroes exclusively. I think we are all heroes in our own stories since we are all fighting this. But thank you! -Regards from a medical professional
The same here in Romania. 308 confirmed cases at the moment and 4044 people in quarantine. A lot of people are very irresponsible and not following government indications.
Evwryone has now mountain high and low emotions. It is natural. Be angry, cry, yell, be hopefull and feisty. Just have mercy on yourself. All will be fine if you just stop reading the news for few days. Have a beer. Calm down. Watch Seinfeld. Big love from NorthEurope
Thank you so much everyone! Stay strong, we're in this together! <3
Just please don't yell at the workers

I WORK AT A VA MEDICAL CENTER IN THE DENTAL CLINIC IN THE HOSPITAL AND I AM ALSO CURRENTLY IN CANCER TREATMENT FOR BREAST CANCER AND THEY WON'T GRANT ME ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE SO I CAN GO HOME AND BE PAID. VERY UNFAIR SITUATION FOR EMPLOYEES WHO ARE COMPROMISED WITH HEALTH ISSUES.
That's disgusting - I'm genuinely appalled for you. Wish you all the very best in your cancer battle.
I am horrified on your behalf. And sadly not at all surprised. I hope you will be able to stay home soon.
Wait - are you actively receiving chemo? If so, they can't make you come to work. You didn't say you were receiving chemo so I'm guessing you're not. Also, if you work in a dental clinic, why are they even open? No one else is.
Currently doing non traditional cancer treatment with a combo of monthly shot, pills and immunotherapy. There was a bill that passed and was signed off by the president but according to our HR department they were unaware of the Emergency FMLA bill that would pay us 2/3rds of our pay while out due to illness or to care for underage children due to the schools and daycares being closed. I hate to sound like a disgruntled government employee but it is a shame that I work for a government agency and they don't work on our behalf.
