I Upcycle Old Louis Vuitton Bags Into Star Wars Sculptures
My name is Gabriel Dishaw, my passion for working with metal and mechanical objects has been essential in the evolution of my art. It provides me an avenue to express myself in a way that brings new life to materials such as typewriters, adding machines and old computers – technology that would normally end up in a landfill. My mission is to create dialogue and help find creative, environmentally sound ways of re-purposing e-waste.
This project was all about upcycling old Louis Vuitton bags into Star Wars sculptures. I used different pieces for some of them – mainly Louis Vuitton luggage and other upcycled materials, such as cables, computer chips, wire, gears, wire, and adding machine parts.

Share on FacebookI want to focus solely on, "upcycling old Louis Vuitton bags". Considering the price of Louis Vuitton - this is not a cheap hobby- even "old" Louis Vuitton is out of most folks price reach...
I thought the same thing. "Old" Louis Vuitton is still pricey, and potentially even.more us good condition antiques.
Load More Replies...Definitely works of art! I clicked on his name, above (in red); and it goes to his website. He has more amazing pieces along with some interesting pieces commissioned for corporations. Either way, some are for sale, some are just exhibited, but they are all thought provoking!
These are definitely masterfully done. It's amazing what people will think of doing.
Amazing skills! This is way cooler than just having a LV bag. Personally I like the 4th and 13th the best! But they are all awesome!
It doesn't fit with my definition of upcycling if you take a practical, usable object like a handbag and turn it into a (somewhat pretty but) essentially useless item... Of course it is totally fine to create art out of found objects, many others have. But don't try to sell it as being sustainable to get klicks. Art has other qualities and capabilities. If you wanted to do something for the environemt, repair the handbags for further use. You certainly are a talented craftsperson.
I don't care for Louis Vuitton handbags for a variety of reasons. I think they're an ostentatious display of wealth and the company is noted for cruelty to animals so I think using their handbags as art is a far better use of them than parading them around. These pieces are actually cool and I personally feel the word "upcycle" fits perfectly as a piece of art is just as useful to many as a purse. It all depends upon the person so to each his own with regard to the need of the person but if indeed LV and LVMH do skin crocodiles alive then p**s on them. They're bastards for caring more about money than a living being.
