‘Star Wars Disney’ Releases A Luxury Furniture Collection For The Most Stylish Nerds
The force has been awoken in Star Wars fans everywhere this year. As these Jedi wait for the premiere of the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, set to be released in theaters December 20, 2019, there is plenty else to keep them occupied.
On June 24, 2019, Disney opened up the Star Wars-themed section of Disneyland in Anaheim, California and fans went nuts. Within days of the opening, there were reports of people stealing from the park and selling the paraphernalia online for ridiculous prices – and yes, there were people willing to pay.
Well, for Star Wars enthusiasts looking for a more legal way to invest their money in fandom, Disney has partnered Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue to introduce a high-end Star Wars furniture line that is as stylish as it is nerdy. Cobonpue first launched the collection last fall in the Philippines, but it will now be available at select retailers and showrooms across the U.S. From fuzzy Chewbacca hair footstools to mini lightsaber-wielding Jedi lamps, this furniture is the ultimate fans dream.

Cobonpue initially had some reservations about the project. “At first, I said, you don’t need me fo this because I don’t make replicas of machines, and Star Wars fans will only buy something if there’s the face of Darth Vader on it—I don’t do that,” he told the Philippine Star last October. “They said, ‘No, no, no. We want you to interpret through the lens of a Filipino designer.’”
These upscale designs are dreamy additions to any fans living room but cost a pretty penny with prices that range from $655 to $4,000

“I wasn’t sure how to marry my design philosophy and language with that of the Star Wars franchise, but I decided to view it simply as a design challenge…I knew I needed to incorporate the various shapes and motifs from the world of Star Wars sufficiently enough to make them recognizable but to also stop short of being too literal. Finding that balance proved to be the project’s biggest challenge for me,” said the designer.

Share on Facebook$4,300 for a CHAIR? Was this furniture actually imported from a galaxy far, far away?
patience, soon on alixpress for a lot much more less
Load More Replies...It is not dedicated to nerds, it is dedicated to people with too much money.
It’s for when nerds make a lot of money. Lol.
Load More Replies...Well, I do love allof these, but honestly, I'm affraid I would need few millions on my account to consider spending 2700$ for a chair, even a TIE one.
I'm a huge nerd but these are Terrible design & the prices are idiotic
That first image... how would you reach your Tie Fighter side table from your Tie Fighter chair?
Love the idea , sounds like a great DIY project . As for buying it ... yeah for that kinda money the chair better floats around the house
It's all fun until you are prying your cat's head out of the spokes of a TIE Fighter.
That material the wookie stool is made from will feel something like a greasy dirty wookie who has battled across the universe for decades, not long after you pay $1300 for it.....
Kinda overpriced, no? Personally, when I hear "Star Wars themed furniture" I expect to see something that wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb if it were placed in a SW scene. These are more vaguely reminiscent of SW to me.
Shockingly stylish? More like shockingly impractical and shockingly overpriced.
Of course they are ridiculous. Some will be sold, for sure, just because it says STAR WARS. There was a very talented Blacksmith who made a spectacular grill that looks like the Deathstar. They are selling for over $1000 and there are now several sources. Kinda cool!
Classic problem with fashion - it often compromises function. Sorry but a pello chair is still more comfortable. Cool ideas but poor execution. And those prices...
How in earth wants a TIE fighter chair that propably explodes into small fragments after a single scratch :D
This is just (overpriced) bad design. Not sure if Disney should be happy with this...........
As if Disney and Star Wars merch wasn't already priced like they're trying to fund the construction of their own death star! Chairs better come equipped with actual cutting lasers for that price. Or taser projectiles built into arm rests for that price.
You pay here not for the furniture itself, but the brand... Same as with all fan ferchandise and wedding stuff. Get a skirt, then get the same skirt with Harry Potter tag on it and it's twice the price. Go to a flower shop and order a bouquet of 30 roses. Come again and say you need a wedding bouquet of 30 roses and the price will triple. No kidding, was there.
Stupid waste of money, even if you have it- because honestly- they are mostly hideous.
