Very cute, indeed - but why create a *new* commercial breed while we already have so many super cute kitties just waiting to be adopted...? Many of them also have "squirrel-like tails". =^.^=
Totally agree! We have enough cute cat breeds and cats that require homes. Why create another, with short legs, which probably cause issues!!
money? like always
Intentionally breeding genetically defective animals because they are "cute" should be illegal. It is animal abuse, pure and simple.
Seriously! So shocked this is still going on. Along with the physical deformities that u can see there can could be a whole mess of genetic and other health problems that can't be so easily seen causing these animals to lead miserable painful lives.
They are not genetically defective! I have several cats from when they were known as Napoleons that have had NO health issues and are currently 14-17 years in age. Most house cats do not live this long. The only difference is they can't jump on my counters...otherwise like any other cats.
Actually... "The Minuet cat has very few health issues, except for general feline issues like allergies, etc. " http://www.catbreedselector.com/napoleon-minuet-cat.asp
Why breed for small legs? That seems unhealthy for the cat.
There exists already a breed with short legs: the Munchkin. When I adopted an abandoned kitty they told me she is a MunchkinX, so her legs are not extremely short and she can do everything my other longlegged cat does. 6-2-15-tos...8f207f.jpg
Elly E. Your short legged munchkin is way too heavy for any cat to be! If you love your cat, put it on a diet....please!
All these strange looking cats make me so sad. How dare humains mess about with cats! They are perfect as God ment them to be. I despise Breeders, they don't love animals or they would not do this.
ohhhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Godddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd loooooook at that little fellaaaaaaaaa <3 <3 <3 <3
While I agree with you, short leg cats are actually healthier than short leg dogs because they have more flexible spines.
That's interesting info, Hayley. But I feel like breeders have had, over the centuries, reasons for breeding dogs with short legs, reasons having to do with work. I have mixed feelings about purebreds, anyway, but I can't think of any reason other than aesthetics for breeding short-legged cats, and it seems to me that this would inhibit a lot of typical cat behavior, like jumping.
Jessica, I actually have a short leg cat, he's not a munchkin he just looks like that. It doesn't really affect his jumping but he is a dick
I never said I condone the practice of breeding. I'm saying that we already dun diddly fucked up so let's take proper care of the animals.
That doesn't make it right and it doesn't excuse the abuse of cats.
