I love the butterfly one particularly. I'm designing a memorial tattoo for my daughter with ladybugs, but I want to incorporate beetles and tree frogs for my two boys, and that gave me some new ideas. Well done!

It seems that flower, moon cycles and botched solar systems on the spine have become a cliché, just like tribal motives in the 90's. Avoid them at all cost.

the spine is absolutely the best place for a tattoo - so you can avoid looking at in years to come when you go "what was I thinking"?

I always see those Peter Pan silhouette/shadow tattoos and they are going to look awful as they age. They'll turn into weird black blobs.

I have a cross on my back that was done for my grandmothers. I had it done because I know that no matter where I go, they'll always have my back and even though I can't ALWAYS see it, I know it's there. To you it's bizarre, to me it's comforting and meaningful.

A few of these I recognize the shadows of the scars from back surgery. In those cases you can't have epidurals anyway why not hide the scars?
