Same here in Northern Ireland. Heard a story about a little girl who got badly raped & got pregnant (she was no older than 11), but the family was forced to take her to England for an abortion, as having the baby would’ve put her life at risk, but whoever is running the laws here decided it wasn’t a good enough excuse for an abortion. I think if that were my niece, I would’ve held someone at knifepoint to get it done. Either that or they’re paying for the plane tickets to England, because that’s seriously fūcked up! 🤨🤷♀️

It's really simple. If you are against abortion, don't get one. If gay relationships are abhorrent to you, don't have sex with people of your own gender. If you don't like a politician, don't vote for them. If you hate disco music, don't buy Bee Gees albums. What other people listen to, vote for, love, or decide about their bodies is their business, not yours.

I am pro choice and horrified by the recent abortion law in Texas, but I’d be wary of this argument because if carried to its logical conclusion it can be used to justify forced abortion. The standards of who can biologically reproduce and who can adopt are very different, as one is a matter of bodily autonomy and the other is a government facilitated process.
What happened to birth control or even control re what we do with our bodies?
Lots of teens can’t get birth control. Plus it’s bad for you, and an abortion is a safe method of birth control technically.

I'm 100% against this new Texan legislation, but these situation do not contradict each other. In both cases they are protecting the child, because yes, in most cases 16 year olds are not ready yet to be a good parent. So we do not let them adopt. In case of pregnancy, it is/should be high on the CPS list to follow up and intervene as soon as it becomes apparent that the 16 year old that just gave birth is an unfit parent or does not have enough family support.
In that case, do you also support extended welfare/support for children or do they only matter, until they are born?
