Space From My Backyard: 40 Pictures I Took With A Telescope
4Kviews
My name is David and I am obsessed with all things space and astronomy-related. In 2021, I decided to get my first decent telescope to be able to study space up close. Soon enough, I realized that the light pollution in my area is bad enough to limit what was visible through the telescope severely. This time I had to invest even more in a dedicated astronomy camera to be able to see more.
Now, I am able to capture multiple galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, and planets. These are some of the best photos I have been able to take using it for about a year. I am very proud of the result I was able to get. I think it is amazing what we can see from our own backyards even in highly polluted areas! Whenever the sky is clear and conditions are right, I take my gear outside to create new stills and then share them with others on my Instagram profile.

These are beautiful. What equipment do you use?
Thank you! I use a Celestron 8” Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with a Celestron CGEM II mount. I sometimes use an Astro-Tech AT72ED II telescope for a wide field view. And then I use a ZWO asi1600mm pro camera with a 4/3 sensor and Antlia 3nm narrowband filters for Hydrogen Alpha, Oxygen III and Sulfur II data and Antlia LRGB Pro V series filters for broadband data.
Wow. I have no idea what any of that is, but you sure do have me interested. These are stellar! I honestly think you could make some money off of some of your shots.
Thank you so much!
Indeed a good question, your photos are incredible!
Thank you very much! See above reply for a list of some of the gear I use for acquiring data
You were able to capture these on your own? Wow 😮
Indeed! From my backyard in Kentucky with amateur equipment.
The pictures are so clear and beautiful. I’m going to start using one of these as a wall paper
These are amazing!! Thanks for sharing them!
Thank you so much!
Of course!
