While most former Soviet Republics destroy Soviet-era monuments, someone in Voronezh came up with an even better idea. They turned the star of one tower building into Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants!
Unfortunately, Voronezh police were not so happy about that. It is estimated that the restoration works may cost the city up to $ 1,500. Whoever did that could face up to 15 days in detention (if they find them).
What do you think? Should they punish these ‘vandals’ or give them a star for creativity?

Patrick what are you doing up there?! Spongebob must be worried sick about you ^_^
OOooooohhhh, Who lives past the Berlin Wall in the USSR? SOVIET PATRICK. Who mangled this song to make it commie and wrong? THAT ONE WAS ME.
This is vandalism. This is not a home draw something and spoil public place. Monument. Ironically the one hand, but on the other it is stupid.
I can understand how this could be seen as funny, and make people smile. But if we took a step back we can tell that the building looks old, and is probably historic. Its nice to see Patrick, but if we keep painting over humanity's history we won’t have anything left but vandalized buildings and streets. Just saying.. 0.o
It's fake old. This style is called the palace of communism or something along those lines. Mostly built in the 50s in USSR. similar or even identical houses many, many times over, in every city. . I think the humor is really clever in this, as also the social satire. Good work :)
Load More Replies...Punish them :) History is history, and USSR history wasn't so bad for a lot of people- no drunkards, homeless, or uneducated. My parents and elderly relatives have only good memories of the Soviet era. Whoever thinks differently has just been brain-washed by the West and makes assumptions without truly knowing or experiencing it.
Now if only a bird would make a nest on top of that, Russia would have its first statue of Trump.
Callers: “Hello this Russia?” Patrick: “ NO! This is Patrick !” Hangs up phone
I study in Voronezh! I saw the building before this "art"... NO, I DON`T LIKE IT!
15 days in a cushy cell (to discourage copycats) with homemade food, vodka, and good music (to laud the creativity and show a sense of humor). Maybe boredpanda readers could start a GoFundMe to pay for the restoration, so the fine doesn't fall on the artist - given the artist probably won't profit half as much as this website from it.
Whom ever had the balls to climb up there and do that coodos to you
I really loved this~! I grew up in the early 60s when we had to crawl under our desk to practice being hit with bombs by the Soviets! So to me, it just says, that ugly part of history is over. Thank God.
I say leave it! Soviet regime is dead, so why waste money restoring it? Class it as modern urban art.😉
