Dad Turns His Sons’ Doodles Into Anime Characters, And The Result Is Amazing

Thomas Romain is a French anime artist who lives in Tokyo. He's worked on various series including Space Dandy, Basquash!, and Aria, but his best ideas actually come from his kids' drawings. Working together in what he calls the Father And Sons Design Workshop, Thomas and his sons come up with all sorts of weird and wonderful anime drawings. Well, his kids actually come up with them, and then Thomas adds his professional touch to his kids' drawing ideas turning them into everything from steampunk doctors and snake fighters to cloud dwellers and sand golems. His doodles-turned-anime-characters are so good actually that we couldn't help ourselves but get a tiny bit jealous of nobody re-drawing our scribbles when we were little.

This child is unbelievably talented. Dad is too. But the kid is awesome. Rare to see this much imagination and out-of-the-box thinking in children nowadays.

This kid is born game designer
but the manga style now days don't feature these kinda designs imo...

Weird that in all these comments no one seems to realize that it is not ONE son. The father works with his sons (plural) which is also depicted in the level of work by the boys. Anyway, really terrific work by all!
I'd love to see a whole cartoon series based on these characters.

Firstly, that dad is one good drawer my god, I love those sketches!! They look incredibly realistic, I hope being some kind of artist is his career because he'll ace it. Secondly, the son must feel so proud of himself after seeing what his little sketches could be turned into xD
Both versions are awesome. I really hate the title of this article though; obviously the author has no idea what doodle means, or has a patronising attitude and no respect for the child's art. According to Merriam-Webster doodle means "a scribble, design, or sketch done often while thinking about something else." You doodle - "scrawl aimlessly," - when you bored or worried, aimlessly. Do you think that that's the case? I don't think so! I can almost see that little boy totally focused on this drawing, can't you?
Where did he learn to draw like that? I'm jealous asf. ;-; I have no creativity these days...(accidentally makes little sister into a slave to draw)
Call me weird, but I always loved to draw the desires / requests that other people had. It was priceless to see them happy with what they got from me. I think that gave me motivation to draw further and eventually making drawing my best hobby, although I already loved it when I first tried to draw at the age of 2 :)

Curious to know if dad is a manga/anime artist if not he should start his own out of his son's drawings. I see awesome animes out of these drawings. Job well done to both! :)

Kid's imagination is amazing!
I love how the child inspires the father's style of art. It seems to me that the father's replica is evolving with the kid's desire for the piece. To me it was harder to change my style /mood/light etc but this guy is grand. The symbiotic art artist relationship definitely helps the mastery of the dad imo. Hopefully I conveyed what I see/experience well enough. But then again I am stoned
