On Monday, August 21, 2017, millions of people were staring at the same thing through doofy glasses, as they tried to catch a glimpse of the solar eclipse. Not only that, they also immortalized the awe-inspiring moment in photos, and Bored Panda has collected the best of them in case you missed the phenomenon or can't get enough of it.

A total solar eclipse covered a narrow portion of the United States from Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. And a partial one was visible across the entire continent of North America, as well as in parts of South America, Africa, and Europe. This was the first time since 1918 when North America experienced the path of totality from coast to coast.

Giorgio Prodoti the borders are there for we can more easily find where we are... Nothing to do with "no real border" shit

Patti Anderson

If people need those borders to find where they are, they need to study their geography a bit more.

This is really sick how badly people are duped by NASA. The path of totality is 70 miles wide. This is pathetic.

That is because NY was not in the path of totality.

I captured the same thing but slower here. It's from the GOES-16 weather sat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yynJaczZg9o. It's my least favorite of the three captured though. Here's the other two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exUYXd7qHm8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCNqxJDGDhs

so sad that also from a satellite view somebody had to insert borders where in reality there are not

M O'Connell

There are all sorts of borders. Not all of them have lines painted on the ground. A State is a political entity (ie. Wisconsin), a Nation is a cultural entity (ie. Potawatomi), a Country is a geographical entity (ie. Driftless). All of them have borders, but rarely are they marked with paint.
