This Girl Was Ridiculed For Asking A Lot Of “Dumb” Questions In Class, Turns Out She Was Just Helping Her Socially Anxious Friend
Good friends are really hard to find, especially when you’re an adult. And even more so, if you suffer from social anxiety. Every interaction can appear like a daunting task when you believe that everyone around you is judging you and don’t want you to be around. Some of us have experienced it first hand, some – know it because they’re friends with socially anxious people. This person on Tumblr shared a heartwarming and wholesome story about one socially anxious girl who had trouble speaking up in the classroom. Luckily, she had a wonderful friend that always had her back.

Share on FacebookKudos to the girl asking the questions, thumbs down to the rest of the class judging them, especially the teacher.
Her anxious friend had a reason to be anxious.
Load More Replies...This girl is so awesome. I think it is terrible that a teacher of all people would be upset that a student is asking questions. Whether or not the questions were for her the teacher should have just answered the questions. This is why people have so much social anxiety: because they are afraid of being judged.
Maybe if so many questions were being asked, the TEACHER should have asked THEMSELVES where they were going wrong that a student *needed* to ask so many questions, instead of ridiculing a student and assuming that they were stupid. A teacher's job is to *teach*, and help their students understand what is being taught, right? I feel like some teachers forget that fact.

not all of them were like that, but some of them is some questionable teachers. like one of my university lecturer that gave me E grade for refusing her invitation to her "University religion organization"

I think it is cruel though that students and teachers judged the girl based on her questions. school classrooms should be a judgement-free zone, but unfortunately, they are not always. She is such a true friend to have the courage to risk getting bullied for her friend. I wish we could all have friends like that. But, we can all be the bigger person, and be that friend. True kindness lies deep down within.
wait but why didn't the smart one answer any of her friends questions I mean if the questions were so dumb why didn't she just tell her. idk maybe they couldn't talk in class or something if so this is such a beautiful story and I hope that they stay close friends forever. WE NEED MORE OF THIS IN SOCIETY!!!
Couldn't the socially awkward girl ask the doubts from the Studious girl. Would have saved her from taunting remarks. And the other girl would've learned too
There is no such thing as a dumb question. The pursuit of knowledge is the act of questioning the status quo, and get an accurate u derstand ing so you can learn! Nike ing in and out of the box, and an active discussion makes for better learning environment. Good for that girl, helping her friend learn better!
I'm a teacher, and I am disappointed that, based on this story, the teacher doesn't seem to have tried to figure out what was going. Our job is more than just imparting information on our students. We are supposed to help them become who they are meant to be. I'll reserve judgement because perhaps the teacher did try. But it does seem that the teacher failed not only the student asking the questions and the student who was too afraid to ask for herself.
As a retired college professor, I would ask...WHERE ARE THE PARENTS IN THIS SITUATION? AND...her friend...how successful is she now? Is she in a career where she helps others? We need more people like her. Really. -Dr M
If are so socially anxious as to not being able to ask a question in class, perhaps you should seek for professional help, instead of having someone asking for you.
Anxiety is not so easy to overcome. Especially when you're a kid. While therapy and medication can help, they're not a magical cure. You often have to play a 'game' I like to call 'medication roulette', where you often have to go through a huge bevy of medications before you find one that both works, and doesn't make you feel worse. Besides that, maybe the one who needed her friend to ask for her had another issue like: agoraphobia, catagelophobia, atychiphobia, etc. Plus, how do you know they weren't already seeking help? You're just the same as those horrible kids in the class- too quick to judge.

You can be smart and still not know the answers to everything, and also maybe she was trying to not make her friend feel dumb by answering all the questions?
