Last year, Duchess the Miracle Cat was brought in to a Texas animal hospital. She had a broken jaw and other complications after being hit by a car, but the the kind doctors at the Texas based Adobe Animal Hospital had faith, and decided to perform surgery.
“Most places would’ve just euthanised her, but by some miracle Duchess got lucky and Dr. Meyer took a chance and repaired her jaw,” said Crystal Tate, Duchess’ owner. “She was in recovery for about a month, she was on a feeding tube and lots of medicine. Her chances of survival were slim, but she was a fighter and pulled through. I met her the day I arrived at the clinic for my first day and ended up bringing her home with me less than a week later.”
Now that Duchess has found a forever home with a forever family, the difference is palpable, but she still needs help! Check out her GoFundMe page below, where Crystal is collecting money for future treatments.

Most places would’ve just euthanised her as she had a broken jaw and other complications
But two vets decided that they were going to take a chance on the unlucky feline
Her chances of survival were slim, and Duchess had to have all her teeth removed
Luckily, everything went purrfect and Duchess got a beautiful smile!
The best part? After seeing this smile, Crystal Tate decided to adopt her straight from the clinic!

If I had just one wish it would be that all animal shelters were empty because no strays were available needing homes. I find it deeply heartwarming that Adobe Animal Clinic "threw aside" the money factor and the Vets helped this kitty back to health in spite of a questionable outcome.
I would adopt her no doubt about that. I do believe that cats smile. I know mine do.
The GoFundMe page is no longer active, at least using the link above. As this story is from a year ago, how can we find out if financial assistance is still needed? Iveta Pete, could you please do this? And, since it WAS a year ago, how about some current photos of Duchess?? Thank you.
The thing about this is... Cats don't smile or act like humans at all. They show their happiness in more feline like ways.
We adopted a sweet chihuahua mix that was injured in hurricane Andrew in Florida many years ago. A vet in Arkansas had to remove her lower jaw that had been crushed. We adopted her from a foster home in St. Louis, MO., about 6 months after the hurricane. We fed her soft food broken into tiny bites for the rest of her life. Maggie was a real sweetheart and we still miss her. Our vet said she was about 8 or more years old when we got her. We have 3 rescues now.
Awesome! Thank you to Crystal Tate for homing her and loving her and caring for her...
