There’s nothing quite like a good design that sticks with people. Just think of it… Imagine Apple without its half-bitten apple, or McDonalds with no golden arches, or the never-changing look of Leica camera, which shows that when you keep being different from everything, changing makes no sense.
These are some of the best design examples of our times, but that doesn’t mean it stops here. There’s a whole Reddit community dedicated entirely to design goodness of all kinds, whether it’s graphic design, advertising, architecture, furniture, or product design.
From a really cool design made for the Tokyo Olympics to animal pics made from as many pixels as that of the endangered species' population, these are some of the most creative ideas that prove just what an art a good design can be. In order to find out the secret to timeless, captivating, and game-changing design, Bored Panda reached out to Emanuele Abrate, an Italian graphic designer who specializes in creating visual identities and brand logos. We previously wrote on two of Emanuele’s projects, where he recreated blank logos in a sleeker way and revealed the fonts behind the world’s most iconic brand logos.
Emanuele told us that the key aspect in timeless design is simplicity. “A simple logo is easily memorable, it enters people's minds and sticks to them.” However, it may be easier said than done. “Obviously, creating something simple is not easy at all, because it must be simultaneously engaging, non-trivial, and suitable for the context it has to represent,” the designer explained.
In order to do so, one has to study good concepts. “Think of the Nike logo. It’s such an extremely simple sign that virtually anyone could reproduce it. At the same time, it conveys the concept of dynamism and speed.”

Highlight The Remarkable
In order for a project to go viral, it has to have features that will make people share it. There are some techniques to follow.
“First, the sense of humor is key. Secondly, any project that aims to become viral should have something that’s well-known to people. And thirdly, it should feature a collection of images.” In other words, a low-volume project with a single image which has nothing recognizable or universal in it for people to relate to is unlikely to go viral.
However, Emanuele believes that every designer has their own method of coming up with unique designs, and it’s up to the creator to decide which way works the best for them. “The beautiful thing about this creative field is that everyone always has something to learn from other creators.”

Great idea. Makes product cheaper. Packaging only goes in the trash anyway.
Unless you prefer certain brands. For instance, Great Value boxed Mac&cheese tastes a lot different than Kraft, or the Target brand, or the WinCo brand, or Annie’s. For stuff like flour or sugar, sure. Other stuff? I need the brand because different brands just taste different.

"Generic" brands were a thing in the US back in the early 80's Unlike this "branding" approach above, the no-frills approach meant it was the cheapest, since nearly no money was spent on packaging or advertising. It was used to good effect in the 1984 "Repo Man", the movie that brings punk rock and space aliens together.
We still have 'generic' or 'home brand' in Australia. Some have started having a bit more design on the package, but a common one, Black & Gold, is similar to this.

"No Name". I'm pretty sure I can see names on those products. It would be a bit of a "Lucky Dip" if they didn't have any. lol (Yes, yes, I know the "name" refers to the manufacturers you humorless pedant, lol)
I remember back in the early '80s shopping at Lucky Store - all the generic products were in those ugly yellow boxes, cans, and jars! I hated those (and they were usually pretty nasty-tasting, too! 'American cheese' that didn't melt!! Yuck!
a strong NO ... some you can get away with, but most of the no-name stuff can be pretty vile - I'm all for saving a few coin now and then, but JFC, you really can't cheap-out on even a few of life's staples when it comes to taste and flavor, say nothing of texture!

I’ll go generic for most brands .... but never for Hellman’s Mayonnaise! No sub for that one!
generic brands in the US use to have white packaging with black letters like this saying the name of the product. That was the late 70's early 80's before they became store brands.
My favorite one: White can with the word BEER in black on it. Can't get much plainer than that.
So easy to see what you are looking for. Hate trying to find things for my mum when I don't know what the packaging looks like and where it will be (dairy free "yogurt" that doesn't have yogurt on the label)
In the 1980s-90s, "generics" adorned U.S. grocery shelves. Plain white paper labels with bold black type.
Shop at No Frills and Loblaws all the time. Have never seen "cola" tine. The other three do exist but with a lot more print on total containers.

Ha, sounds like what Germans do. We call things what they do, like "refrigerator" = Kuehlschrank (cooling cubbard), or gloves = Handschuh (hand shoe).
Not such a good thing for people who struggle to read... pictures are on products for a reason (though I am a fan of minimalist design).
This is how products should look. No glamour. And it should be organic. Not a multitude of the same products, so we can avoid waste.
They used to have this in the US. I believe it was called Always Save but I haven't seen it in years, I'm not sure if it still exists.

This is based on an old '70's arcade game called 'Breakout': the cigarette is the paddle which is bouncing the 'ball' from bottom to top and back again, this is gradually destroying the 'bricks', in this instance, lungs.

The Magazine one....this made me cry....at the age of 5 my biggest brother started to rape me....in continued until i was 12....i finally had the voice to tell on him...but he still touched me until he went back to his home state.....im now 14 and have Bipolar Disorder, Split Personality Disorder, Depression and PTSD....he caused me so much pain....but this magazine is the truth of everything....my heart is now beating......i love who ever made this...thank you
You are not alone. I hope you have a good support system, the repercussions from abuse can be horrendous. Something that has helped me adjust and normalize is forgiveness, not for him but for you. The original language words for Forgive in the Bible have a literal definition of "let go" or "never bring back into mind" so it's more for the victim than the the wrongdoer. It was very difficult, but letting go the anger, the hurt, the betrayal, brought me to a better place where I could be confident and secure. I did this by refusing to allow him space in my mind, by forcing myself to think of other, positive things. Now I rarely think of him except when I am sharing with others what worked for me. I still have emotional scars, my ability to make and sustain close relationships is still affected, but I am also happy and content with my life. I hope this is of some help, everyone has their own journey to healing. Best wishes and prayers

This is on one of the expressways in SA and the things circled in red are in fact rigid mesh specifically put in place as koala ladders. It prevents the koalas from getting stuck on the expressway and being killed. The mesh lines up from one side of the road to the other. Sorry it isn't the best image, it's just there isn't much online so that is the best I can do. 5f500b51f0...902bac.gif 
I was surprised and slightly disappointed that the logo for the London Symphony Orchestra was not included here. In the Logo The L S O of the orchestra's initials are drawn in such a way that the letters come to form a conductor's arms and head as he raises his arms to commence the concert. lso-5f6adf...37c306.png
