The coronavirus outbreak has rearranged plans for the majority of us. Naturally, theaters are no exception as they’re closing their doors all around the world, with productions being canceled or postponed. But for those in need of a Shakespearean fix, Sir Patrick Stewart has come to the rescue. A former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company for over 15 years, the legendary actor (both stage and screen) has brought some joy into our lives by reciting one of Shakespeare’s classic sonnets. For many, Sir Patrick Stewart’s voice is soothing and comforting, so what more could we ask for during these shaky times?

More info: Twitter

On Saturday, the legendary actor Sir Patrick Stewart shared a video of him reciting Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116

No need to go to the theater when you’ve got one of the world’s most famous and respected actors performing Shakespeare while you’re laying on the couch and stuffing your face!

The star of both the stage and screen was pleasantly surprised by the amount of attention his video received

Sir Patrick said that he was “delighted” by the response from the Twitter community as the video of him reading Shakespeare was liked by over 50k people.

So he shared another one

After witnessing the success of his first reading, the actor did a follow-up on his first video. This time, he read Sonnet 1. Does this mean we’ll get new sonnets every day? We can only hope.

But that hope is alive and well as Patrick shared Shakespeare’s Sonnet 2 just yesterday!

Gotta say, why do the religious insist "everyone HAS to listen to (whatever verse/passage gives them a boner). Really? Stop trying to shove YOUR beliefs down my throat. I'm tired of it. Stop it.

Nobody needs a Shakespearean fix, not even from a very good actor. Nobody needs Madonna screeching from her bathroom either. Nor any of the other 'celebrities' taking to various platforms trying to keep their name alive. People need practical help.

Non-whites doing Shakespeare, isn't that cultural appropriation?
