The leap in technological advancement from us to a race that could *actually* traverse the galaxy/universe is astronomically ludicrous. We are absolutely nothing in comparison to any race that has created ways to reach us.
Meaning any race capable of finding us would be so advanced and so much more knowledgeable than us that they could observe us without us ever knowing. They would have technologies, weapons, etc outside our realm of understanding and would be able to annihilate us with ease, just given the fact that their ability to generate/harness power would be unparalleled.

I remember a article back in the 70s. about group of well to do people who'd set up a restricted community in some valley in oregon(?). The article interviewed a few of them and they were very smug about the fact that they were preppers and safe from 'the bomb'. Next issue had a letter that said if there hadn't been a bomb with their name on it there most certainly was now :)

I found out years ago that literally every person in America thinks they live at "ground zero" - I've had people all over the country claim that, for some specious reason or other, they will be "the first ones hit by the Russian nukes". It's a funny conceit.
Back in the 70's, I had a nuclear attack map. I've made it a point to live close to the Zone 1 ranges ever since. Including suburbs near military bases. It's an event I don't want to hang around in for very long.
I nevered worried about that because I lived in Sunnycvale, CA for about 30 years. At one far corner of Moffet Field NAS was a blue building known as "The Blue Cube." It was an Air Force installation where most of the US Spy satellites were controlled. We would have been hit about 100 times.
I lived in Kentucky near Fort Knox. That was a scary thought. Now I live in New Jersey, not near anything but NYC. That wasn't scary until 9/11. Now Fort Knox doesn't seem so bad.
Not even a major City. A lovely chap in a newspaper article in Christchurch New Zealand mentioned he had moved to that city from Moscow after he saw Chch targeted in a nuclear silo he was doing his national service in.

Had a Civics teacher in junior high tell us that we would be bombed early in a war since we lived about 55 miles from an Air Force base and between 2 large cities and near 2 major national highways. Talk about feeling doomed when your are a kid.

I grew up in the suburbs of Washington DC during the Cold War. We all knew there were nukes pointed at us. It was extra scary for us.
I live in a BIG military town (including NSA-type stuff), so I'm pretty sure there are multiple nukes pointed at me as I type this. On the flip side, this means the town is also probably more well-defended than most, too.

Time for a random conspiracy theory. During joint Atlantic exercises with the US, a British nuclear submarine accidentally launched a missile on a pre-planned vector towards Florida. Extrapolating from their normal place of operation, in the north sea, it implied the nuke was intended to hit somewhere in Britain. So why nuke your own country? The theory goes that the UK brass are banking on the US turning Russia into nuclear slag and they don't need British help. I was washing up and had plates in both hands when a sneeze came at me. I didn't want to drop the plates so I braced myself for an uncontrolled sneeze. It put my back out. I thought I had slipped a disc and was bedridden for two weeks! The pain was tremendous and I couldn't walk. I had to crawl to my bed. Beware of sneezes, yes they spread diseases but nobody ever talks about the injuries they cause. Beware.

Here's one: There are these tiny little creatures called pinworms that infect about 20% of children. Here's the process: 1) A child swallows a pinworm egg. 2) The pinworm hatches and chills out in the child's intestines. 3) The female pinworm exits the child's a*s while they sleep, and lays eggs around it. 4) This itches, so a child will likely scratch their a*s 5) Eventually after that, a child is likely to touch their mouth, getting the eggs back into their digestive tract. This cycle continues forever :D
