Here Are 11 Indications Of A Healthy Relationship According To This Viral Tweet

Humans are social beings and they can’t live without other people. That means we have all types of relationships: with family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, significant others. Some of them are inevitable even if you don’t particularly like the person. Some of them make you feel great and like you belong.

But it’s true that people can be unsure about how they feel being in relationships, especially romantic ones. You could possibly not even know what a good relationship means. Twitter user We’re Not Really Strangers shared 11 signs that, in their opinion, mean that a person is in a healthy relationship, so take a look and see if you agree with them.

More info: Twitter

Twitter user We’re Not Really Strangers made a thread listing the signs that show you are in a healthy relationship

This particular thread is a series of statements to ask yourself and check if they apply to your relationship. And if they do, according to We’re Not Really Strangers, you are in a healthy relationship. The statements are pretty universal and the bottom line is that you just have to feel good with the other person, so don’t stress if you couldn’t answer ‘yes’ to all of them. Everyone is different and everyone’s relationships are different.

The account We’re Not Really Strangers has over 256k followers on Twitter, 3.5 million followers on Instagram, and 2.5 million followers on TikTok. The person behind the accounts is Koreen, a model and artist based in L.A. She also has a personal Instagram account with 120k followers.

The thread about healthy relationships got more than 118k likes on Twitter and more than 500k likes on Instagram. So people are really agreeing with what Koreen has to say.

The statements include simple things, like having constructive conflicts and feeling good for being yourself

We’re Not Really Strangers is a card game created by Koreen that should empower meaningful connections with other people. By playing the game and asking questions, you can deepen the connections you already have or you can make new ones.

The account on social media also focuses on relationships and feelings, giving advice about life, like “the big picture is more important than that isolated moment you’re obsessing over” and giving encouraging messages like this one: “you’re questioning yourself again. stop that.”

A healthy relationship doesn’t mean expecting your other half to love you blindly, no matter your actions

This Twitter user wants you to know that you should feel like you’re the best version of yourself when you’re with the other person

Most of these statements could be applied to any kind of relationship. Also, you could look at them from the other perspective and think about how your actions make other people feel. Relationships should be reciprocal and if someone is making you feel loved, gives you constructive criticism and lets you be yourself, you should try to let the other person experience the same.

If someone in your life ticks all the boxes, let them know how you appreciate them!

People added to the thread by listing their signs of healthy relationships. Feel free to leave even more of them in the comments if you think there is something missing or if you disagree with any of the statements.

People in the comments shared even more healthy relationship signs and here are some of them

I also wonder where they are to maybe ask if they could run by the supermarket because I forgot something. Or whether or not they are in a meeting so I can harass them about stupid stuff. Hehe. This whole pandemic working from home thing makes that a lot harder. I mean. We're both equally far from the supermarket....

Yeah, it does. My husband and I don't share the same humor and it makes me sad sometimes. His is mainly Star Wars, Star Trek, computer stuff. If I see something he would like I show him. But often I am alone laughing, then I stop because I can't share it with him. Doesn't mean it is a bad marriage or anything.

Even if you can't talk to them, you don't just storm out angry and not tell them anything, you feel like you can let them know " Hey I feel angry at you right now, I am going to go to the other room to cool down, I will let you know when I'm ready to talk so I don't blow up at you" or something like that

I confessed to my husband last night that I am feeling really lost right now. I'll spare you my life story but, because of the pandemic, I'm no longer a med student, a rabbit breeder, or a teacher. He hugged my pathetically sobbing mess and said, "The most important thing you are, to me, is a Kate." You guys, it was the most loving, validating thing anyone has ever said to me. 16 years married, this summer.

That’s great, Kate! I had a mini pandemic panic last night too! And my fiancé really walked me through it and got me back to my logical side while being super empathetic. I was so happy to have someone who really understands me. I’m happy for you that you have such a loving partner, and hopefully things will improve for your career. A lot of people are starting new paths and new businesses. Maybe it’s time for you to try something new. Or maybe not, I don’t know you, but surely you will find your way.

I agree with this. Of course the stranger online was making good points but nobody should hold themselves to the fake standards people set on social media. A person could feel most of those needs being met and still not be in the right relationship. Or they could be missing one component and just put in some effort to make things work better. I agree with the Twitter thread but I think you have a point.

Imo "respect" is the most important one, that and being "willing to improve, but also genuinely putting in said effort." We can all always improve. Oh, or also "not needing to be in a relationship"- relationships are way healthier when you are both able to not see them as a novelty.
