Contrary to the name, shower thoughts aren't exclusive to showers. From long walks to mowing the lawn, many everyday activities seem to have the right circumstances to allow the brain to have these little aha moments.
But they also happen to be situations where it's difficult to take notes — turns out that mechanical engagement is perfect for free association, but getting a pen and paper can take you out of the experience.
One TikTok user, however, seems to have beaten the system. He goes by the nickname Shower Thoughts Guy and constantly produces videos that allow him to keep this title. Continue scrolling and check out his best one-liners.

Also they get free healthcare aka Medicaid while in prison.
Load More Replies...This needs to be higher. And why do prisoners get free healthcare (usa)?
It's sad to think that murderers get better treatment from the government than impoverished people.
Load More Replies...There's lots of places for the homeless to go to get food, shelter, clothes. I'm not saying it's perfect, but this is such an oversimplification and ignores all the good programs that are out there.
From what I know, most shelters aren't places homeless people can permanently stay and it can be unsafe sometimes. The solution is some kind of permanent housing where each individual or family can be safe.
Load More Replies...Prisoners are in custody. If you hold someone and they are not free to leave, you gotta feed them. Otherwise, you become the prisoner.
Why are prisoners on death row kept around for so long in decent living conditions...
Because people in this country supposedly have free will to eat or not eat and come and go as they please but if the government chooses to incarcerate you they have to provide you with food and shelter
Homeless in major cities receive food, water, coffee, tea, clean used clothing, and even free health care from countless volunteer groups, churches, and other outreach organizations. Shelter is also usually an option.
They actually are given food and water in most major cities. There are many, many outreach groups providing food, water, coffee, tea, clean used clothing, and toiletries at "soup kitchens" or direct to known sites around the city.
I suppose it's because it's easier to feed people stuck in a single place, than it is to feed people spread out throughout a whole city. Since homeless people have no home, they have no fixed address, and are therefore difficult to locate.
Because corporations benefit from the slave labor of prisoners and they don't from houseless people.
They are given it at times. The things is prisoners get better care than working people. They get basically any dental and medical care.
because prison labor is a multi-billion dollar industry and they dont have to be paid bc prisoners aren't employed to do this work they have to do this work so they arent paid for it. cant make a multibillion dollar industry die out bc workers arent being given their bare-minimum
Rumors has it that somebody rubbed a bank on $1 just so he could get free med-care in prison.
I don't think that would work, so try rubbing a nurse or doctor, for your free health care needs

Morally, they should, technically, prisoners are in the care of the government which means they are responsible for their well-being. But yeah, it's f****d up.
prisoners are not "given" food in most prisons , the prisoners make their own food and wash their own clothes, clean toilets, and clean the hallways and everything ...they dont get food for free
You'd be more productive researching the reason instead of having Deep Thoughts on the Toilet sessions.
If homeless were given access to basic life necessities, crime would decrease.
You can ask why isnt EVERYONE given food, water, shelter, without taking it from others. They are basic human rights and everyone should have these met. Everyone loves to dunk on convicted people, but remember noone outside of prison is innocent either.
Prisoners are slave labor and so contribute (unwillingly) to capitalism - they make a profit for SOMEONE. Homeless people are thought of as jobless (not always true) and so are 'leeches' (not true) and don't give anyone a profit so they are made to suffer. Capitalism is a death cult.
That's because they use prisoners for slave labor. They can't legally do that with houseless people until after they imprison them for being houseless.
That's because the prison system in the US is worth billions of dollars to co-operations. Slave labor folks.
Because prisoners are basically used as slave labor for the industrial prison complex, making under a dollar an hour in most states to wrap goods, sew clothes, etc. In fact 70% of goods we buy took advantage of cheap prison labor somewhere down the line. Because homeless people serve no use for capitalism, they don't need to be kept alive
They become person in the care of the government. The government is required to provide food and shelter. Homeless people can be in the care of the government if they apply at various institutions and they can get shelter and food and even job opportunities. As i understand, many don't either because they don't have IDs and cannot have them released again, or because conditions are unsuitable for their needs. Homeless people or quite literally nobody's people.
They are. there are many missions and charities that feed the lazy homeless.
They are. They have free food all the time from charities that service them.
Because society took away the ability of prisoners to feed themselves. But many think that homeless people are just unwilling to work for food and ignore the social-economic (and mental!) issues around homelessness. No matter how skilled he is, a homeless guy can't walk in off the street unshowered and in dirty tattered clothes and expect to get a job
That's why homeless people commit crimes. To get food and shelter.
Not completely true. Homeless people have a choice to get free food and a place to sleep. We can't force them to do anything. Prisoners are forced to stay in conditions they don't like and are forced to stay alive so they can be punished for their crimes.
I think that varies widely by place. Many cities in the US do not have enough space in shelters for all the unhoused people to have somewhere to sleep. Food is pretty available, though.
Load More Replies...Not completely true. Homeless have a choice to get free food and a place to sleep but some choose not to. We can't force them to do anything.
I agree that homeless people should be sheltered, fed and watered. 100%. The reason prisoners are fed is because they are locked up and they would die if we didn't. Still though. It's a good point.
Or….there are already a zillion programs and soup kitchens and food stamps and food banks and on and on and on. If anyone goes hungry, it’s because they are too lazy to get up off their ass and go get all the free food that is already being offered
Load More Replies...Booo. Now you're just giving the US prison industry more ideas. "Why not turn it into pay-per-view fight clubs, winner gets fed?"
How do they justify imprisoning a person for $94 a day while feeding him PB&J and one slice of bologna and a sandwich.
Paying all the guards, electric, water, heat. $94 isn’t just for the food
Load More Replies...What a dumb question. Prisoners have no choice. A homeless person can travel or spange and get a cup of coffee or a donut somewhere. Prisoners are limited to staying in the building they are houses in, with no access to ANY resources, idiot.
Prisoners did something to be in prison. Homeless people likely didn’t choose to be homeless.
Load More Replies...There haven't been a lot of experiments on why we get random insights, but psychology does have one theory that describes a mental state that seems to foment these kinds of thoughts. It's called the default mode network.
"You become less aware of your environment and more aware of your internal thoughts," John Kounios, a psychologist who studies creativity and distraction at Drexel University in Philadelphia, told WIRED.
At the same time, you might make a decision that will take your life... and one day you will.
The common thing in these activities is they are physically or mentally active, but only mildly — they're also familiar or comfortable enough that we stay engaged but not bored, and last long enough to have an uninterrupted stream of thought.
Kounios explained that our brains typically catalog things by their context: Windows are parts of buildings, and the stars belong in the night sky. Ideas will always mingle to some degree, but when we’re focused on a specific task our thinking tends to be linear.
That Satan punishes sinners is an idea conflating Satan and Hades, as is Satan living in hell. If you're coming from a Christian perspective then...no he doesn't on either count, that isn't in the Bible. Satan is evil because he tempts people into doing wicked acts with loaded promises and lies, thus sending their soul to the eternal fire of hell. He doesn't live in hell, he doesn't sit on a throne and punish the wicked. Satan lies and manipulates to send the souls of others there in place of him.
Kounios likes to explain it with a stack of bricks in your backyard. You walk by them every day with hardly a second thought, and if asked you'd describe them as a building material (maybe for that pizza oven you keep meaning to put together). But one day in the shower, you start thinking about your neighbor's walnut tree.
"Those nuts sure look tasty, and they’ve been falling in your yard."
You suddenly realize that you can smash those nuts open using the bricks in your backyard!
As far as Eureka moments go, using a brick as a nutcracker is pretty lame, but as an illustration of how the default mode network frees the things in your brain from external associations, it works wonderfully. As ideas become untethered, they are free to bump up against other ideas they've never had the chance to encounter, increasing the likelihood of a useful connection. And this guy seems to be aware of that!
Oh, thanks for ruining my day. Before now I never had to think about that. :'(
By now my brain is questioning my existence and currently im only on the 15th one
Oh yeah. If i never searched up im bored during school, I never would have come across bored panda :)
that would beat the pants off of any fireworks show you could imagine, though
Yep. That's the issue I have with Gremlins. "Never feed them after midnight", but there's no feeding window of time given....since, technically ever minute from 12:01 AM until it turns 12:00 AM again is after midnight.

If you’re a parent to a young child, you won’t know when the day will happen, but there will be one day which is the last day you will ever pick your child up and hold them in your arms.
As a non-parent, this one freaks me out. When was the last time I was picked up? Why was I picked up? Why wasn't I picked up after that?

I don't get the one abt Mr & Mrs incredible naming their son Dash before they knew his power
In the Pixar movie "The Incredibles", their son's superpower is speed (dash/dashing). Superpowers manifest when the child is a little older, not when they are born. So they named their kid "Dash" before they knew he could dash (move really fast).
