This artist by the name of milkdongcomics on Instagram creates illustrations. However, those illustrations are not simply art. They have a heavy message behind them—animal abuse. Many of us don't even think about all the ways animals are being mistreated by humanity. So this artist created a project called "Murder Scene" to shock us back to reality.

The art may be uncomfortable for many people, but it's the sad reality of many critters in this world. Perhaps this art will make us rethink our actions and create a world safe for animals. Many organizations are already working towards that. Consider donating to shelters and institutions working to save animals and give them a better life.

More info: Instagram | Facebook

Animal abuse is common all over the world. Research shows that animal abuse strongly connects with abuse against people. The most common animals abused are pets, like cats, dogs, and farm animals.

We asked the artist what inspired him to create these illustrations: "I love nature. All of the creatures on the earth are beautiful! Unfortunately, many of them are endangered, therefore, I created a collection of drawings with messages about animal cruelty. The name of the series is "HEY HUMAN, SEE WHAT YOU DO!?" I wanna convey the message to more people through my art, attract more people to raise awareness about the endangered creatures. This is a serious issue!"

There are many forms animal abuse takes: from hoarding too many animals, breeding them incorrectly, to slaughtering them for fur, horns, and teeth, to even organizing fights and pitting animals against one another. Many would argue that there aren't enough laws to help prevent animal abuse; usually, people responsible for mistreating animals are not persecuted.

The artist shared what inspired him to touch upon such heavy topics: "The natural ecosystem is closely linked with humans, so I wanna try my best to do something for animals, the next-generation, and the earth!"

De-clawing is illegal in the UK, with good reason. It’s like cutting off a cat’s fingertips.

"Every time that animals are killed for human benefits, make me very angry!"

There are many discussions about testing drugs, makeup, and other products on animals. Many companies are going the cruelty-free route—however, many believe it's necessary to ensure the safety of the product.

Humans and animals have been inseparable from one another from the very beginning. Animals are a very important part of our lives, not to mention our planet. So please be considerate and report any animal abuse you see, donate, and help this world become a safer place for them.

"The most important message is when the buying stops the killing can too. Humans must wonder what is their needs, they should able to distinguishing between wants and needs. Desire is not essential. Just think about it before you buy, eat and use!"

Sad thing is, once a race horse's leg is compromised in any way, the horse is most likely looking for retirement (sometimes abandonment).

Again, racing in a competitive sphere like this should be limited to willing human beings. Horses, working or leisure, should not be pushed beyond their physical limits under duress for profit and be treated in the most appalling ways.

The sad reality of racing is, when the horse is injured, their career ends and is either a breeding horse, sent to a shelter(not that bad) and/or sent to dog food companies, where the horse is slaughtered for their meat

Stats are not hugely accurate. They differ from country to country and vary between 700-1000 deaths per year (not necessarily incurred while racing), or 2 out of every 1000 starts. It also doesn't take into account if it is US only, or worldwide, and what type of racing is included (flat, jump or harness). Remember that it is the winners and the well bred stud prospects that are wrapped up in cotton wool because they are a huge investment- losing them is losing money, and reflects badly on the connections- publicity they don't want. It's the middle order run of the mill horses that are not missed and are 'replaceable', that are run when unfit just in the hope of winning a bet. There are exceptions- excellent trainers and owners who ensure retiring horses are looked after in their latter years. Racing will not stop, so it needs to be made safer. Greed plays a huge part in this sport.

When I was younger, my mom worked at a Thoroughbred Farm. The horses were owned by people that lived all over the country. The mares were bred every year. The stallions came from high end racing bloodlines so their stud fee's were $$$ I used to spend my summers here when school was out. My favorite horse was one of the Stallions. His name was Leave Seattle and he was a really beautiful horse. I grew up and ultimately left my hometown. One day, I started thinking about the farm and Leave Seattle. I got curious and searched him up to see if he was still there. He was not. I guess he was getting too old to breed with the mares. The owner didn't want him anymore and sent him to auction. Luckily a Rescue Group that saves race horses saved him. But from the time he left that farm to the time he made it to the Rescue, his life was just, ugh. I felt so bad. But that's how these horses are treated. Once they can no longer "make money" for the owner, they throw them out like trash :(

I also want to add that when these horses are sent to "auction", it's usually for slaughter. The owner still tries to make some profit off of them, even if it means they are being sent to their death. It's sick and disgusting and I will always be against anything and everything to do with Horse Racing!

Not necessarily true. Broken leg, yes, because of the vast complications involved and that a horse cannot be confined to recover and is always standing. Unfit- can be trained to become fit. Injured- can be rested before racing again, or retired. It is very much dependent on the trainer and owner and how ethical they are. Horses are not disposable for eveyone in the racing industry.

This is a complex issue over simplified here. But the intentions are good. A lot of horses actually really seem to enjoy racing ("seem to" since we can't ask), and they are generally treated extremely well (even getting messages). That said, the racing industry---especially in N.A. does have it's share of problems, and some individual tacks definitely need to be investigated. But the unavoidable problem is that it's an activity that by it's nature can cause injury ---in spite of all the effort put into keeping the horses safe. Horses can seriously injure themselves running in their pasture, but on a racetrack it's a very public place to have injuries. And sadly, for horses, leg injury often means death. They are a large animal and difficult to keep still long enough to heal.

Good trainers will not do that. There is huge money in a good horse. Putting pressure on them to win small races isn't worth the risk to most owners. Most race horses have better health care then a human. I know my insurance doesnt cover swim therapy for hip discomfort.

And please don't be naive and say "that's illegal." Horses running that fast caused their heart to explode So you may win, but your faithful friend you treated like garbage during training will pay the price. Not to mention that they will have a broken leg for tripping, get a rock stuck in its hoof, and be whipped and their needs dismissed.I did not know this. But I thought about it, and I regret seeing the triple crown race thing.

It is shocking how many horses have died on the race track in the past few years. Despite what track owners say about improving track conditions, what about owners not pumping drugs into the horses so their bones aren't so brittle or their blood vessels don't burst? The entire horse racing industry is corrupt.

They are the exceptions. You probably have zero comprehension of how the industry works today. Read up on how horses (very good ones) are flipped to Korea where if they don't win, they are literally horse meat. Read up on the bone of today's horses how fine it is. Read up on how the tracks are not safe. Read up on how it's a shrinking sport more for paramutual betting rather than the thrill of seeing a live race. Read up about how horses are run to hard, too fast, and too young. Ending up with chronic lameness later in life. I used to work in the Hunter jumper industry. No longer are people buying as many thoroughbreds, but buying $$$$$$ warmbloods. Markets are shrinking for the thoroughbred industry that breeds irresponsibly and casts horses off like you cast of old shoes. It's an ethically bankrupt one.

You all have never been on the back side of a race track! Horses are herd animals who love to run in packs. Those who love to win are the only ones who are selected to race- just like human athletes. Do injuries occur sometimes? Of course. Don't they occur in Football and Basketball and other sports? There are fewer injuries in horse racing (compared to the number of horses racing) than there are injuries to Football players. ...but its easy to criticize when you only look at the surface and don't understand the sport you're talking about.

rl_2 avatar

The difference is that a horse doesn't have a say in the decision to race, footballers say if they want to play (and get paid for it) and know that injury is par for the course. You can't tell a horse that, especially since a broken leg means a bullet to the head. There are some horrific, unscrupulous trainers and jockeys, and there are wonderful ex-racehorse welfares who try and rehome those horses that can be. Some horses do run for the love of it, others because they are whipped into it. Horses are flight animals- if they run in the wild it is normally to escape danger. Also, it's not only those who love to win that are selected to race- plenty or racehorses show no inclination to get into the starting stalls, let alone leave them, and are happy to hang back. They are still raced.

Milk Dong Comics shared what he does in life: "I enjoy swimming in the ocean, walking in nature with my lovely doggies. Creating art is my job, Hong Kong is a society under commercial pressure and it is hard to survive in it. I had been employed in different industries for livelihood. For example designer, visual merchandiser, art teacher, sales, customer service, ware-houseman, restaurant waiter, fishmonger, coolie, and many more. However, even after all of it I never give up on art!"
