Shelter Dog Hugs Her Friend Hours Before Euthanasia And Saves Their Lives

Kala and Keira, two shelter dogs who were hours from certain death by euthanization, proved that hugs can save lives. Two hours and six minutes after a photo of Kala, the brown dog, hugging her friend was posted on Facebook, they found a foster home willing to take them in and save them from certain death.
Their photo was shared by Angels Among Us, a pet rescue in Georgia that saves dogs and cats from other high-kill shelters in the rest of the state. Along with their heartfelt plea, their photo sent a powerful message: these dogs, and many others just like them, need your help!

It is so heart breaking when healthy animals put to sleep. This is not right.
Exactly. People need to be more responsible & less pets die.
People should stop declawing their cats. Its cruel and inhumane.
That is why people need to FIX their animals!!!!!!! They just don't GET IT!!!! One male dog and one female dog mate...they have for example 6 puppies...in SEVEN years if NO DOG has been fixed they will have produced 65 000 DOGS!!!!!!!!!! If people could do the math they would realize..instead of producing puppies for their own selfish needs and then trying to sell them for profit...disgusting...
Totally agree and we, animal lovers, are so devastated when we have to do this for our too old/too ill pets...
Wish they could all be saved. If only the human race did their part there wouldn't be such senseless killings each day.

I agree.. And a lot of cities now have free or low cost spay and neuter clinics so there really should be no excuse.. Except for laziness..

Agree, Shara. I belong to a site called nextdoor.com, and my neighborhood uses it to report loose or lost pets, unsavory characters knocking on doors, etc. Has done a lot of good in our neighborhood. This was a terrific story!
The lives of these animals are important. We domesticated these animals. We have proven how intelligent they are and we (as humans) are responsible for their care. Killing them is not a method of care.
I can't believe that in 2015 this is the only solution we find, killing them. How's that? we haven't evolved yet. Thanks to the man that adopted them, but what about the rest? they are going to be killed just because!
One of my little lads had been in a pererra in Spain for 4 years when we rescued him. He is so loving and gentle it makes me shudder to think what he went through before we brought him to his forever home. We love him to bits and he now lives happily with his big sister and little brother.

I was once told about how they are put "to sleep" and its very misleading to think they just fall asleep....its a long process and they use the cheapest method possible....one man told me who works in a shelter that it takes 15 mins or more and that they throw them in a pile....while Im aware this comment is hard to read, Im tired of ppls feelings possibly getting hurt- this is the TRUTH. THIS is what is happening every SINGLE DAY. And all it takes is ppl spaying, and neutering their pets...

That is wonderful news!! I love hearing beautiful stories such as this - not to mention, the two dog's names are very similar to my daughter ’s name (Kayla) and her cousin's name (Kiera). I just thought that to be interesting.
This is the most beautiful innocent kind of love. Love conquers all! I am so ad these babies have a rescue and I pray hey get a loving forever home together very soon. I pray all animals and living things have a loving home always and we must be the change we want to see in the world!
Humans and their selfish needs...ADOPT an older dog who will forever be grateful..I know I have a rescue dog and she is incredible...this dog was a mess when I first saw her but with months of repetition and love she has become an amazing dog...(she is the flat coated mix on the left). She is so agile and incredible I will put her into an agility course in a few weeks. Do what is right and adopt never buy an animal AND get an older dog...they will thank you every day...
No more kill shelters!! These precious pets have a right to life just like we do!
Noone concerned about the staggering rate of animals with commicable diseases? Ok...well remember that when you are covered in parasites how cudley and cute they are. But protect yourself when handling animals without prior knowledge of where they've been. Lots of bad stuff out there.
I always push Adopt, Don't Shop! Pet shops take away homes from shelter pets! I would love to see pet shops banned from selling cats and dogs from breeders!
Adopt a rescue. This helpless furry creatures depend on us more than we realize. They will certainly show you the definition of TRUE LOVE
I think people are the most selfish creatures on this planet. Pet overpopulation is as bad as it was years ago, especially when so many low-cost spaying/neutering programs available to anyone who needs them. Millions of healthy dogs and cats are still killed every single day because of irresponsible people .

Everyone deserves a good home! We dont ask to be born into this life, some times we just need a helping hand to take care of us and love us! Animals love unconditionally they deserve the same in return!
I pray that there will be more and more of these adoptions. It is so sad to kill them because no one wants them. AND spay and neuter so we can get this problem under control.
Beautiful story. All dogs deserve to be happy. Their job in life is to bring us happiness and each and every one of them is a master at this job. I we could say the same about people.
At least these two are safe.
One thing we can help is "adopt don't shop". Stop buying pets from breeders.
