Abused Dog Petted For The First Time (Don’t Watch With Sound If You’re Sensitive)

The dog in the video below was abused so much that when a kind-hearted woman Monica Mitreanu tried to calm the poor soul by petting him, he was so petrified, that a gentle, loving touch seemed like a threat to him.

This happened on November 11th in Breasta animal shelter in Craiova, Romania. Craiova is known as “The European Capital of Canine Cruelty” for the brutal handling of shelter animals. Luckily, the pooch learned to trust humans again, and has recently found himself a home in the UK.

There is not enough punishment available for people that abuse animals. They are evil beings. Thank God for the loving touch and soft hearts of all the volunteers and foster families that take these wounded abused animals into their homes and turn their lives around.

Have a 12-yr old rescue from a US 'no kill' shelter. She'd been founding the street. She's friendly, runs up to people and other dogs...but whenever anyone tries to pet her she cowers and tries to 'escape'...god knows who did what to her, but after 15 months with us, she's ok to tell me what she wants and to bark when she doesn't get it--but i s still afraid when we extend a hand toward her.

I have a small private shelter, and several of the dogs and cats I have fostered over the years have been abused. It sometimes takes a while, but, unless they were ferals to start with, even the most cruelly treated can learn to trust again. It takes patience and a willingness to let them go at their own pace. Sometimes it takes a long time of gentle, soothing words before they are ready for touch. And boredpanda is much too nice a website for me to talk about what the abusers deserve.

It boggles the mind that there are human beings who enjoy causing others whether they be human or animal pain for no reason. I am not some fruit who thinks animals should be given the right to vote or anything and I eat meat but why would someone take pleasure out of another creatures suffering? It isn't too surprising that violent criminals often start by abusing small animals and then move onto to doing the same thing to humans later in life

The dog doesn't seem to trust this person and seems petrified of humans. When this an animal is this upset and scared you have to build trust and I believe the handler is not behaving in a responsible of compassionate way by forcing the dog to be petted.

All well and good but they don't have the resources to take that time. There is only a small window of time to get these dogs ready to be rehomed or you know what happens. Make sure you keep donating so dogs can keep on being cared for.

Terrible :| The dog is terribly frightened, isn't he in pain or something? Being this thin he can have really sensitive skin. I won't pet animal which is that terrified of touch that it even tries to bite. Definitely not while trapping it in the corner like there. It's hard to watch it.

it is hard to watch, but I think itțs necessary. We should be more sensitive and aware of each other. The dog was not in physical pain, he was screaming with fear, due to former abuse. It is ok to break defensive barriers with love. Beings are not always ready to receive it, but it must be given, with care, as it is vital.

Brings me to tears. If you know you're not a great person and you bring a pet into your life and you're going to treat them badly, you're a stupid stupid person and should be burned to death.

Old saying: You can tell the nature of people as to how they treat animals.

poor baby. I'm glad they found a home with loving owners. i wish people would stop hoping for death to those who torture & abuse their pets. doesn't that feed right into said "evil" acts? these people are ignorant & need to learn more about love not to be threatened. all I'm saying.

I really don't get the most liked comment. Whoever abused a dog deserves to be tortured to death? How are you any better than the abuser?

Some people don't realize dogs are smarter than you think. They have feelings too just like humans. Sad. I would of adopted the dog if he didn't have any place to go.

I wish this dog will going to find a good, safe home and loving owner for good. I can't help but cry seeing his reaction.

I know the women meant well, but perhaps she had to get it use to a gentle human touch in order to help the dog get better. Backing into a corner was not a good idea. I would like to know what happened to the dog. I hope it had a happy ending.

Brutal a******s working in those shelters need to have their skin flayed from their bodies with HOT salt water poured over them, just for fun...talk about hearing some screaming...and I would enjoy every single second. SO happy that this sweet soul has a good home now.

If you guys don't like the sound of this animal in pain then think of all the animals that die for your dinner. Go vegan.
