When Ryen Blaschke and I were introduced we immediately decided to collaborate on a project to bring awareness to cat rescue. I am a commercial photographer specializing in animals and Ryen is a fashion and wardrobe stylist. Both of us are actively involved in animal rescue and advocacy.
We wanted to create a light-hearted series featuring rescue cats and kittens that are up for adoption. With so much exposure on dog rescue we wanted to bring attention to the much-overlooked topic of cat rescue. Approximately 3.4 million cats enter animal shelters every year in the United States.
Customized hats were handmade by Ryen and then shot by me on rescued cats from Brooklyn Animal Action, in the homes of volunteer’s fostering the cats. All cats deserve a loving home and a ridiculous Halloween costume, don’t you think? The ongoing project encompasses popular hats such as the one worn by Pharrell at the Grammys and timeless pieces such as Robin hood’s woodsman hat.

Wait till you're older, then secretly get a cute kitten. The moment they see it, their hearts will melt and they wont be able to throw it out. That's what I did, and my mum HATED cats. 4 years later, I moved out with my cat, and they got themselves another cat! :))

I have two rescues myself and always say I have room for more. Once my place is bigger I'm sure I'll have more furbabies. It's sad seeing how many need homes and how misunderstood black cats are. In all honesty my very first kitty was a black cat. And lucky was the most loving and caring furbaby ever. From that day as a four year old I decided I wanted to save furbabies and I have been ever since. Please lets help give these babies and many more a loving forever home
It's not kittens that have a lot of trouble getting adopted - it's older cats.
I dont like the ones that are covering their eyes. cats get very distressed by that
why would they have to do this for kittens?? Kittens get scooped so fast in shelters. These pictures are absolutely adorable but they need to be helping the cats that are less likely to be adopted. :-(
