Women Are Creating She-Sheds, A Female Alternative To Man Caves (66 Pics)
Men need their space. But so, too, do women. But while some men prefer to dwell in their Man Caves, some woman prefers an alternative housing to relax. Such as the She-Shed.
Whereas Man Caves are usually a part of the house somehow, say hidden in the basement or the garage perhaps, She-Sheds are typically situated in the garden. There are no set rules for how this kind of garden shed should be constructed. Some make their shed plans considering reading areas while others use their She-Sheds as craft rooms or even miniature yoga studios.
Want a She-Shed but don't know where to begin with this DIY project? Then take a look at the shed design pictures below where you might just find some inspiration. That applies to you too, guys. Go on. Don't worry. We won't tell anyone.

I don't understand the roof, would love to see more of how this was built. Very beautiful and warm.
I adore the Victorian exterior but would like to see some soft prints of a "shabby-chic" on the furniture and pillows.
I would put the bed under the sky light for optimum star gazing! I love it!
ALL these people must have plenty of money, you could not afford to build these in the UK unless you are a politician or have won the lottery, but if you had won the lottery why would you still live in the UK instead of living somewhere you are not getting ripped off every time you step outdoors.
Love the mosquito netting for that graceful texture of folds that pick up the dust ruffle flow.
This does it all for me from the fiesta colours, the fireplace, the bricks, the planter candelabra. When might I move in?
Love the printed pages and of course the bookshelves, carpet, trunk-table, the delicate netting the whole thing including the hammock!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! With me, it's all about the garden. it's so happy!
Grew up in a snowy place. Lovely she-pad, but I will just enjoy this as a photo!
So obviously this is a garden house you can buy somewhere. #10 is the exact same thing with different interior. Loving it though
This rock garden once surrounded an old maple until Super Storm Sandy knocked in down so I built a gazebo with a she cave fully completed with electric, sheetrock, paint, trim and flooring. It's her own personal space. 1-570bcbb1e39c2.jpg
It's a fancy greenhouse nit a she shed. I get that it's a thing a woman calls het slice of serenity... But c'mon. A greenhouse? My opinion
Kinda sucks these only look like its made for chic ladies. How about a tree house set with a small fridge, xbox/playstation, some books and comics, a bug furry rug with a pic of bob ross to bring in the good vibes.
Well, it's an open list, find one you like and submit it :)
Load More Replies...@Helen ... yep ! 1600 square feet of she shed and husband has his room also :>).
Load More Replies...They are really nice and look comfy but I can't stop thinking about spiders whom might also want to have these a their home. This is my ONLY reason for not to build one..... :)
My she-shed is the one with the tall mirror and fireplace, and it's COMPLETELY bug proofed. I caulked every crack and hole. (#54 interior, #60 exterior). So worth it! :)
Load More Replies...What makes me laugh is if this was a man cave post, no one would be making any fuss about gender equality!
I never understood the concept of man cave...must be something American thing. Not that inequality doesn't exist in Europe, I never heard of this here... Moreover, most of them are just garden houses or so in which I (as a men) would love to spend time...
Load More Replies...This is the most stereotypic post on Bored Panda ever! Of course every man lives in a cave and drink beer and every woman lives in cute pink little gazebo with flowers everywhere.... Most of them are just garden/tree/beach houses and have nothing to do with gender, come back to earth bored panda!!
I would seriously love and adore a she-shed! Having a she-shed would be such a relaxing, dreamy place for me to introvert and relax! ~AM
Lots of these seem to be more like guest houses or conservatories, not really hang out places for peace and isolation...
Excellent post, with some brilliant ideas! Love the decking area! I recently had my garden Man Cave built, and I would love to add some of these quirky ideas! I'm so pleased with my Man Cave though, if anyone is looking for one themselves, check out these guys: https://www.bakerstimber.co.uk/garden-rooms-your-way/garden-man-caves
Women have plenty of spaced dedicated to their interests. Master bathroom, master bedroom, laundry room, kitchen, dining room, living room, kids rooms, sewing room etc. Men have been relegated (with the wifes permission) to claim a bit of the garage with a workbench and a part of the deck with a BBQ on it.......I decorated my carriage house with antique golf clubs, well worn fishing gear, interesting found art objects as well as vintage film objects as well as a decent record player and stereo......It even has an emergency stash of bourbon for the unexpected "drop in" by friends. Cigars are often lit, as well as the occupants. Wouldn't trade it for all the tea in my wife's tea cup collection and cabinet.
Women get the entire house......Kitchen, master bath, dining room, kids room, sewing room. Men have been relegated to the garage area and perhaps a small BBQ area outside. (With the wife's permission.) My shed is a masterpiece of antique golf clubs, boating fishing, art posters and other interesting (manly) found objects. It also is a casual work shop when I need to work on house projects...... wouldn't trade it for the world.
Not gonna lie, if She-sheds are the female alternative to Man-caves, I'll take a Man-cave any day. Whilst these are quite pretty to look at, none of them struck me as something I would want....they all seem designed around the idea that women want to lay around the garden in pastel splendor, with absolutely no electricity, entertainment, or food. Yes, I know you can decorate your She-shed any way you choose, I was just a little disappointed that the majority of these seem more decorative than functional.
Mh, I guess they are nice but I thought the purpose of a personal space was to be personal, and by that I mean not in the view of everyone who may want to know what the hell you are doing? There is a reason why man caves are in the basement or the garage: a little window not easily accessible to prying eyes.
I would love and adore having a she-shed of my own. This would be the perfect place to introvert and relax! ~AM
It's somewhere to go when after you've had a row, don't want him to listen to that conversation you need with your mum where she says he's no good, or somewhere to go when it's the wrong time of the month and you can't face him.
I always thought the idea of man cave sprung up as a tongue in cheek joke that guys retreated to their space because the woman had effectively taken over the rest of the house. In other words, the She-Shed wouldn't be needed, they had already won the battle.
What about an old mobile home/van fitted out to a lady's taste? That way you could just take off and drive to whichever scenic you liked and park and relax?
say She shed 10x fast, and see if you don't wind up sounding like "She s**t" I did ... idc if these people are looking at me!
Prefect except why are we in a shed and men get a cave? I call mine a Girl Cave.
How come none of these looks actually used? These staged pictures are nice but how about some realistic - in use - pictures?
Who wants to see a picture of a pile of tissues and mugs everywhere, when you could clear up and have a nice, clean photo?
